Team Never Quit Podcast

Жыл бұрын

A man’s man. A Patriot’s Patriot. A distinguished veteran as a U.S. Navy SEAL. And now a newly elected U.S. congressman. What a resume this week’s Team Never Quit Guest brings to the table as he brings an eye-opening discussion related to the role of a Congressman.
Once a co-host of this very podcast, Morgan’s conversation with his twin brother Marcus Luttrell makes for an episode you don’t want to miss.
Morgan’s life has perennially been one of service to others. A 5th generation Texan raised on a horse ranch. At an early age Morgan learned the importance of hard work, discipline, and personal responsibility. He turned his strong values, deep love for his country, and his passion for helping others into a career of distinguished service.
Morgan Luttrell brings bold leadership, and a “Put America First” mentality to his role as a U.S. Congressman.
In this episode you will hear:
• There’s an energy that lives [in a mob situation] and if you become a part of it, you may find yourself in a situation like “I didn’t intend to be here.” (3:59)
• The DC Police did an amazing job of showing restraint [at the January 6th situation]. There were situations where they were getting close to death. (4:41)
• The criminal justice system [in DC] is, you could say, “broken.” (5:38)
• DC is a dumpster fire. They wanted everybody that lives in DC to have the right to vote, even if you’re a Chinese citizen working for the Chinese government; if you’re a Russian citizen working for the Russian embassy. (6:27)
• Another role and responsibility of the lower chamber of congress is we control the purse strings. (9:19)
• Passing legislation and controlling government money is what congress men and women do. (11:18)
• We’re not at the cliff edge; we’re over it. We spend more than we take in. (13:14)
• I don’t care about red or blue anymore. We’re here - 31 Trillion dollars in debt. I don’t care which administration did it. (13:49)
• We, in the past decades, have been increasing our debt limit, all the way up to 31 Trillion. (14:32)
• It needs to be said that if we don’t increase the debt ceiling and we default - that’s a problem. (21:52)
• There’s a point in time we’ll be paying more on the interest of our debt, than we pay on our defense budget. (23:19)
• When the cameras are on, people will turn the switch on and they become actors. (24:59)
• Abraham Lincoln coined the word “lobbyist” because people would hang out in the lobby of his hotel and when he’d come down, they would just bum rush him and say we this, this, and this, and this is what we’ll do for you. (30:14)
• I would never complain about this job, because I fought so hard to get it. (39:03)
• The border’s a dumpster fire. (42:23)
• It’s very humbling to walk through the hall of the Capitol. There’s so much history. (43:33)
• The best part of my job is I get to meet so many people. (63:51)
• The hardest part about campaigning is that it’s 24/7. (64:37)

This is how politicians should be able to speak to the public, like you're talking to your brother. Thank you Marcus for asking the questions we're all wanting to ask. Thank you Morgan for answering those questions. You two fight as one and that's why I love you guys. The people need more of that in DC, this was nice to see. Thank you gentlemen!!

What I love is he’s able to use critical thinking skills, think for himself, just like Marcus going against the NRA about civilians having AR’s, he really supports the first responders, not just lip service, and had to withstand the radicals who just are running on lies and blind hate. Hell if he would defend woman’s rights I would cross the isle and vote for him for president.

Thank you Morgan and Marcus for your service. I'm and old Vietnam vet and have a hard time figuring out how this country got so fucked up. I think one problem is senial old career politicians who care more about their careers than the American people. I saw how you handled Mayorkas and was pretty dam impressed. We need more people like you in Congress. I was a big fan of Krensha "until" I saw a podcast on how he fucked over Eddy Gallagher by not signing a decree to allow him to get out of jail to prepare his case. In fact he wouldn't even meet with him. WTF ! Thank God for President Trump a " true patriot " for giving him a pardon. Any thoughts on that? Keep up the great work sir. I have all confidence that you will not be corrupted as many of the Washington Swamp Creatures have. Hang tuff. 💪 🇺🇸

Rep. Latrell, as a 100% disabled P&T Iraq army veteran I would gladly, (not easily) give up $1,000 per month on my compensation for a year if it helped balance our debt. I may be a republican but it was a democrat that spoke the words I remember most. “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country” ~ President John F. Kennedy

I am from Iceland , and mostly like everyone else I didn't knew the Luttrell Family until the story about the Operation Red Wings came to public, that is the moment you know them ,their mind set , their attitude and skills , I felt this Family has something Special, and started following their Videos and news about what they do in post USNS Service and duty, I am a Soldier , been in Special forces for almost 15 years of my life so knowing this Two brothers and listening to their life stories and achievements was inspiring and at the same time helped me to understand the transition from Soldiers life to Civilian that is form me and still is one of the hardest achievements I faced in my life ... Resuming this all text , I get inspired and helped by listening to this two guys , mostly cause they are natural and hide nothing about their feelings and beliefs, and I think Morgan will do an amazing Job as a Congressman cause it's engraved in fire on this Family Genes ... I wish them all the best in their endeavours , and happiness . Salutes from a old soldier in Iceland !

JC thank you for serving your countrymen. I know how difficult the transition is for you guys from military to civilian life. But your being a warrior never ends. You will always be a warrior. It is part of who you are. It was even part of who you were before your military service began. The military only brought it out in you, something you already had, even as a kid. It is only the war, the battlefield, and the mission that changes. The world of the civilian life needs good warriors to continue to serve, to fight for what is right, fair and just. You will be, you in fact already are, to your people what Morgan and Marcus are to theirs. Just keep at it.
@Bullfy890

@@fog8969 Thank you for you words bud, yes it hard to get the Civilian mindset to just start , I couldn't so far in part cause the moral code I got in my military service and what i learned there , nevertheless some manage to fit and even blend in this civilian life and others maintain their military codes and honor and mix into that civilian life , i believe i have done the second option , never lost my military mind set and most of all what i think its true , false , and honor in every moment of my life , respect others even when sometimes they do not respect you is by far my most challenging yet to overcome task in civilian life..I do not lie ever , and that is the one thing that makes me not fit into this civilian life , no matter how much it hurts I tell the truth and that is the one thing that in a practical way commits you to be apart in real life... But I am trying hard , work hard , and have my goals , when I finish one goal i fix another ..if I fall i get up , if i fail i try again ... Those things are what differentiates an ex soldier in civilian life from the rest of the people that will never understand our mid set ...Thanks again for those words bud ...salutes from iceland ..

Constituent here. I appreciate the honesty and open questions and answers. I don't know is sometimes the best answer. My biggest question right now though is this: This was a lesson in the minutia of the daily life of a Congressman. That said it's my impression that people can (and do) get lost in the details. I would like to hear more about fundamental change, and what that would look like. For example the social media companies way back when got a sweetheart deal, which now they are abusing in a huge way. I could cite 10 examples of other issues as well. In general, how does one go about altering the status quo in a sea of 'daily grind'?

To Whom It May Concern: Aruthur Schlesinger Jr. wrote, “ One state cannot do a great deal to reform another. Most states are hard enough put to reform themselves. When states agitate about human rights in other states , their motives are always suspect. The “moral duties” thus assumed by governments seem “invariably,” in Carter’s unfortunate but accurate phrase, to be in their own “best interests.” Politicization is not necessarily the best destiny for human rights.” Thank you.
