Wisdom only comes with age. I know this because I am 91 years old. My life motto is "Don't trust anyone". I also try not to depend on anyone. I live alone and an introvert. Other than some aches and pain, I am physically fine and my brain is still sharp. I am still married to someone 15 years my junior for 53 years. We have two kids, but she lives in her own country and an extrovert. We visit each other and very faithful to each other. We are both financially sound. What not to like.

I'm 79...I have no regrets ..had my life gone differently I wouldn't have become who I am..the trials in life shape your outlook and perspective....no one promised life would be perfect.... If everything went your way you'd have nothing to strive for.. I believe having your priorities in order makes for a good life..God ..Family ..good health... Friends.. as long as you have all those life is good...

I absolutely love listening and learning from older people. Their stories always inspire me and bring tears to my eyes. Though their stories, I am reminded to appreciate the simple things in life, the importance of developing and maintaining healthy relationships and taking time to actually enjoy life, as it's meant to be, and not remain stuck in the past. Besides, we never know for certain when our last day on earth will be. So living in the moment and being grateful for all of my blessings is, in my opinion, a solid goal to stay focused on. Thank you for this video!

So true. I also married a wonderful man who loves me like this doctor loves his wife. I could hardly speak English when we met, but he knew the first day we met, that he was going to marry me and three months later we were married. This year - 2023 we will celebrate 30 years together. I’m surprised that no one of these wonderful people ever mentioned having good health, this is just as important as having love 💕

Great to see how happy marriage made a few of them, and was the highlight of their lives. It’s important that this generation sees and hears that. They’ve been brainwashed out of marriage, to hate men, and to use the biased court systems to enslave men and robbed them blind. We really need to get back to love and fidelity. It is soo important for life and the health of society. It’s what makes good overcome evil.

I adore listening to older folks.. I feel we really need to learn from them. The gentleman who'd been married 74.5 years touched my heart. How devastating to lose someone who is with you for many years, but 74 years would be like losing a whole part of yourself, bless him... how broken he must have been when his wife passed.. .. and the guy who adored his wife, and can't speak of anything else, and whose face completely lights up when talking about her.. just is a joy... in fact they all are.

As someone with chronic health issues; keeping such things in perspective and doing as much as you are able makes all the difference. Also having a sibling who had ALS, family who declined after strokes, etc, I value having my mental faculties, not to mention being able to walk across a room without struggle and or pain. The social connection of those of faith received via attending church can also be done via non-religious groups and organizations that are secular by those who don't have religious faith, and by those with faith. Studies show such social activity helps keep yourself mentally sharp.

When you plan things right, you have more time in retirement for things that work and simply trying to survive got in the way of. Even in your young years; many individuals fail to understand how local museums, recreational areas, etc, can greatly increase one's quality of life. Simply hanging out with family and friends, having a quality conversation over a meal, even going to the movies, etc, can build the strong connections that last a lifetime.

Humans are social animals; this need can be met not just through family but through pets, friends, and even interacting with acquaintances we meet while out and about. Taking classes, joining a group regardless if it's a social group or one for a more specific purpose such as being part of a church, a group that helps maintain parks and other public areas, etc. Many families are against putting a loved one in long term care or even assisted living; however the social I reaction, support for health needs, not to mention support for physical help and safety needs can help seniors who struggle on their own or even with family, to live longer healthier lives. We had to make this choice when my mom's dementia made her no longer safe on her own. Many seniors even make this choice on their own, as they know their safety is at risk. I would also advise not being bull headed when it comes to using mobility aids like Cain's, walkers, etc, these things exist to help prevent falls, as 50% of seniors who break a hip never regain the ability to walk. Also, some activities like walking, seated leg lifts, etc, can maintain our mobility as; a documentary on aging I watched years ago had a group of seniors who lost the ability to walk unaided had them do sited leg lits and enabled 30 out of the 100 participants who were in their 80's 90's and 100's, to walk again unaided by a Cain or other mobility device. Also, as we age we tend to look down rather than rely on our center of balance, there are special harnesses that a physical therapist or other specialist can use to safely trip someone so they can relearn to use their center of balance. Physical activity before this occurs is a way to prevent this from occurring.

Back then you didn't date for years before marriage. Dating wasn't even really a thing. You found someone you liked and you married them. These days women aren't raised to be wives and men aren't raised to be husbands. And yet we wonder why marriage rates are so low and divorce rates are so high.
