TCA Peel at home (20%) with really surprising Results! This is the most comprehensive TCA video I've done - with before & after photos, videos & closeups of the TCA peel and results. MORE⤵
For anyone reading this, thank you for watching. This video took a lot of time to make and I hope you enjoy it! Also, after making the video, I ended up looking more in-depth at the before and after photos and I was honestly really Shocked to see such an improvement and erasing of fine lines around the eyes especially. I think I didn't see the real change until after recording this video and to others maybe it will seem subtle but the changes are quite pronounced to me! My biggest question is regarding whether or not the changes will remain or kind of go back to how it was before, unless I do more peels soon. I will let you guys know. Also, it's been several weeks since I did the peel, as of the time I'm writing this, and so far the results have remained! Happy about that! Also, as soon as I have time I will be putting side-by-side photo comparisons of my TCA results on my website: www.LifeandDiy.com. Please check back there later.
MY TCA PEEL AFTER CARE VIDEO⤵

COUPON & WHERE I BOUGHT IT⤵
I purchased this 20% TCA peel from Platinum Skincare. They also sell lower strength TCA Peels as well as a 30% TCA for use on the body, in addition to other skincare products & peels that I hope to try in the future.
Platinum Skincare: www.platinumskincare.com?afmc=holly10
Full disclaimer is below. Here I just want to give a personal note: Please be extremely careful if you are considering doing a TCA peel at home. Do extensive research. It is also never recommended to start out with anything but the lowest peel available. Whatever you do is at your own risk. Most people do not do TCA peels unless they have worked their way up from lower strength peels - like Glycolic peels. But, Platinum Skincare does sell a lower strength TCA peel starting at 7%.

I am a nurse in plastic surgery; I just wanted to say that you did a very good job on your video. Please explain what "frosting" means maybe in future videos. I enjoyed watching this, and you were open and honest, and your daily results really helps! We do most of our TCA peels in the winter, so there isn't any temptations to be outside in the sun. This is a great, honest video for people to watch if they are interested in these types of peels. Thank you, great job.

Hi Kelli! Thank you so much for the kind comment. I really appreciate the feedback. I definitely should have explained frosting or put a description of it on the screen. I will do that next time. That makes sense about doing the TCA peels in the winter. It was trickier doing it in the summer - but I think a lot of people are doing them now since they are stuck at home - though during winter would be better. Thank you again for your comment and for watching the process. :)

I don’t want to take time off work. Any advice is appreciated! I’ve done a series of 70% glycolic peels as well as lactic acid peels. I did notice okayish results with those.

*❤️JESUS CHRIST of Nazareth, the only true Lord and Savior of the whole world & the true Messiah, died on the cross of Calvary to pay for the sins of the world in order to set us free and give us true salvation & redemption. He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. Anyone who believes in Him shall have eternal life. Anyone who rejects Him shall perish in hell fire forever.* *By dieing for us, He took up our pain, and bore our suffering. He was pierced for our tressgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him. And by His wounds we are healed (Isaiah 53).* *He had no servants, yet they call Him Master. He had no degree, yet they call Him Teacher. He had no medicines, yet they call Him Healer. He had no army, yet kings fear Him. He won no military battles, yet He conquered the world. He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him. He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today.* *Jesus Christ is the exact image of the invisible God, Creator of the universe. By Him, all things were created, in heaven and on earth (Colossians 1:15-17). Jesus is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature. He is the author & finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2) and will judge each one of us on the Day of Judgment (Acts 17:31). We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Any other way other than the Gospel of Christ will lead to hell. Jesus Christ is the only true everlasting God who reigns forever.*

I used to do 30% glycolic peels from a company off ETSY and ooof that was rough. I have been going to get 20% TCA peels once a month now for 2 months at my spa. The first time (3 layers with 5 minutes between each) itched bad in a couple spots but the esthetician held a small fan to my face to help. Next day I had zero redness and no noticeable peeling. (I’m very fair-fine lines around eyes & forehead.) Second time going in for chemical peel -same as before 3 layers with 5 minutes between and neutralizer at end. Not painful and no itching. I could feel a tightness though. Next day no redness but could see a little bit of peeling around my nose and cheeks. Definitely, definitely worth it! My esthetician said do one once a month and you will have amazing skin.

Amazing results! It should do permanent change to fine lines, but the change is more visible when the skin is freshly exfoliated with a peel, once the dead skin builds back up the little lines might look slightly more pronounced. But all of those sorts of procedures I think are proven to reverse lines! So it's definitely not in vain, you look 25! ☺️ x

MsKaterina, thank you! That makes a lot of sense about how things look most visible when exfoliated. I think regularly using a retinoid or doing glycolic peels regularly could help maintain it too. Thank you so much for watching! :))) So nice hearing from you!

I highly recommend TCA Peels as they give proper results. I have done and l don't bother with other so called peels as l find them boring and a waste of money. Just be prepared as the downtime takes a few weeks as your skin slowly sheds like snake sheds skin though this is the normally process. It burns full on when doing the peel so be ready for this. Good video with showing the whole process.

I really enjoyed your video and started following you. Seems like your on the same journey I'm on. Two weeks ago i purchase 100% tca, first peel was at 10% not much happen, I have thick skin and was not happy with results, two weeks later 2nd peel at 35%, immediately notice the frosting and felt the burn. Face is very tight and cracking. Doing exactly like your video so i am extremely happy. My question is how soon can I proceed with the next peel, now that i know it works i may be a little anxious and push the process as fast as possible, take into account i heal fast and have thick skin.Thanks and good luck with your journey.

You have such an impressive pain tolerance! I would be much more afraid!! I'm so glad you keep such thorough track of your progress, both times were significantly noticeable. I remember watching older videos of yours taking about glycolic acid peels but I can't remember what brand you recommended. Was it "The Ordinary?"
@LifeDIY
@LifeDIY 3 жыл бұрын
*Hey Shannon!* Thanks for watching! Too funny about the pain tolerance situation. It is so insanely painful beyond words. But, I get over it quickly! I had to cut out some of the clips of me but wanted to leave the rest so at least people know what to expect. I have a high pain tolerance but it is still really bad. Thank you for the compliment about the skin. I'm still trying to figure out if changes are ongoing or if more treatments need to be done for that to happen, but we will see. I think glycolic peels are incredible and not really painful compared to these - and you can get great results with them over time. For someone who hasn't done them before, Amazon sells 10% and 20% glycolic peeling pads - that's kind of how I started. Then I worked my way up to a 30% peel and then higher. The peels can sometimes feel uncomfortable but nothing like TCA. :) My fav. from the ordinary is their AHA/BHA peel that is mainly glycolic.

Thank you for this video! I’ve had profesional chemical peels regularly of various kinds (salicylic, glycolic, both together, TCA) and home peels (salicylic abs mandelic) for almost 10 years and they are fantastic. I used to have a fav esthetician that did deep micro penning on me and immediately after she’d do a TCA peel right on top of my freshly penned skin and my peeling was very similar to yours and it produced the most dramatic results! Didn’t get penning or deep peels for 2 years because of ms rona and other factors and my skin aged a ton. I recently had my first session of penning with a new esthetician and the results are no where near as good at all. I’m not sure if it’s just that I’m older or if it was actually the TCA peel doing the heavy work. After this video I’m thinking it was the peel and I’m going to give it a go! Thank you
@JamieYAYme
@JamieYAYme Жыл бұрын
Please be careful if you're doing a TCA peel at home. It's a very strong acid and there's lots of little things you need to know, like applying Vaseline in the corners of your eyes so it doesn't seep in your eye, and personally I think Vaseline should cover the entire eye because the eye is so sensitive, I wouldn't do that area unless you've done TCA peels several times and you know exactly how you'll react in a sensitive area by then. Like I said, lots of things to learn, one video just won't do it! Lots of articles, videos, forums, Facebook groups and googling can be great ways to learn! You should use gauze, a q tip, or something that does not absorb much product because a cotton round can apply way too much acid when you only need a hair thin layer.

Did a 15% a few months ago… I’m a nurse and the mask was nice for hiding behind but even lathered in Vaseline it irritated my peeling area. So today I did a second peel But- I diluted the TCA to 12.5% , except with a q tip I hit the small areas and fine lines with 25%. Left on for 10 min. I made sure under my eyes I stayed at 12.5% because this skin is thin and fine. I can honestly say the whole process was less painful and I wasn’t left with the WHAT have I just done!! feeling. I’d rather go low and slow than have days of misery. I plan to do another in a month and no longer dreading it.

Andrea, that is so sweet of you. I think the lighting was just good. There are other times when I have tried doing a video with no makeup and I look pretty rough! haha. I actually just remembered I was wearing eyeshadow while doing this peel! But, no foundation or anything like that. :) Now, I am so sorry for my really late reply! I was doing research yesterday and read that another pigment inhibitor is resveratrol. I know the Ordinary sells a resveratrol+ferulic serum. I just read from some medical studies that it is more effective than arbutin! But, I would hope the product is potent enough. "Compared to other hypopigmenting agents, including hydroquinone, ascorbic acid, or arbutin, resveratrol is a much more potent tyrosinase inhibitor" (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6412432/) Also, if you are mostly doing the Ordinary's AHA BHA peel, I wouldn't worry too much about pigmentation issues - if you are careful to wear sunscreen and a hat, etc.But, it is always good to be careful! what you can do to prevent it is apply ozonated coconut oil nightly, with a little bit of DMSO to make it penetrate deeply. Cancer cannot survive in the presence of oxygen. No need for painful peels, at least not for that purpose anyway.

I've done about 3:30 % chemical peels TCA pills and the downtime for me was 10 days so yeah it kind of have to stock up on a lot of food because you really don't want to go out looking like that but I never did put the pill under the eye area that's very sensitive skin there and you really don't need to apply it way up by the lower lid under eye. like I said my down time was basically two weeks and i loved the results. one major thing is you don't want to do it if it's hot you do not want to sweat under that chemical peel you do not want to perspire underneath it.

Great video! I bought the 13% TCA peel and the 7% TCA eye peel kit from Platinum Skincare after seeing your last video on them, (I was late seeing it by a couple months) and I still haven't done them because it seems so intimidating! Thanks for making another video on it, I'm going to crack out my bravery hat and go for it! Would you say the peels can make your skin thinner at all in your experience? I paused on microneedling because I was worried I may have gone too deep around my eye area once at the end of 2019 and was paranoid, but I actually don't think it was that big of a deal. A higher strength Retinol helped thicken the skin again very quickly so it might have just been very slight. Hope your summer is going super well, beautiful
@LifeDIY
@LifeDIY 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Kayleigh! So happy to see your comment! I totally understand the apprehensions, especially if it's new to you. I think the 7% would be the best place to start and maybe checkout the Platinum skincare video on it. Let me know how it goes when you do it! Just be so careful with it around the eye area! So, I am really glad you asked the question about thinning skin. You gave me a whole video idea on Top TCA related questions. I like using RealSelf.com to find expert answers. I looked on there to find an answer to your question. And, a dermatologist/surgeon answered it this way: "It temporarily thins the stratum corneum (upper most dead skin layer) but more importantly, it thickens the dermis (mid-level of the skin). A series of 3-4 peels, followed by a 1-2/year peeling is a great maintenance regimen for most people." - www.realself.com/question/visakhapatnam-02-chemical-peel. I could be wrong, but I think microneedling would do the opposite of thinning things. :) But, I understand the fears! I totally agree with you about the use of a high strength retin A product to thicken and repair the skin. I am about to go through Curology to order some, though I still have some of my own left. I really hope you are having a nice summer too! :)

Hi Holly, needed to watch this again as something i may consider for the future, naturally i’ll be trying something less more like 15% although i was curious to know after applying the TCA did you wash it off after a certain period, or just cleanse the following day and apply your oils etc. Many thanks again 🙂

@LifeDIY 2 жыл бұрын
So sorry for not replying sooner! After applying the TCA, and it frosted, I then went in and washed it off with some kirk's castile soap (very mild and soothing soap), though at times I have used baking soda and water (people used to think it was necessary to neutralize it this way, but I don't think it's the case anymore). When doing a TCA peel, you can feel when it neutralizes because the pain stops. So, you can then do another layer (if it has not frosted or made that white appearance on the skin) or just go rinse it off at that point. I hope that makes sense. If you buy the peels from Platinum Skincare, they have some great instructions - or a little booklet that explains things better! :)

I recently bought one recommended by a channel called ThinkMedia - the mic was really cheap and it's the BOYA by M1 Lavalier Microphone. Not sure if you can get it where you live. Otherwise there are other external mics that are usually decent. Do you think the echo is from the mic or the way your room is setup? I had to do a lot of things to fix my echoing room too. :)

But, it is worth it, I think! So sweet you tagged me! I was just starting your new video too! Also, with my echo problem in my room...I had to do a few things. I made these sound absorbers to go on the wall - these rectangular things with foam in them. I don't think those helped that much, but a little. I ended up buying sound absorbing blankets to hang up and that separate the room I record in. The room I record in is so huge. If in a normal house and recording and dealing with echos - it can help to have a rug or two and other furniture...unless the cause is that the internal mic just doesn't sound great. Having a lapel microphone can make a big difference, even if the room is echoey. :) If that's a word. :) If you want to know more about the sound absorbing blankets, I can look it up and email it to you as I can't recall where I bought them. Life & DIY thanks! Been using retin-A for like 13 years. And I started doing 1-2 fraxels a year. And then the normal sunscreen, vitamin c, hydration thing lol. YESSSS Jessner peels are amazing. In fact I think I like them better than TCA. Used the platinum Jessner but again I think Dermalure are more effective. I’m about the buy the GIGANTIC BOTTLE of Jessner they offer. Try a Jessner! 14% salicylic, 14% lactic and 14% rescorcinal. And 7% of the rescorcinol is Hydroquinone so it really helps with tone and pigment! And the downtime is not bad at all. I layer my Jessner in like 5 layers, don’t have to rinse it off since it self neutralizes and I even apply my retin a the night I do the peel but not again till I’m recovered. Also Dermalure has the red carpet peel which is a copy of the V.I. peel. So thats a combo of TCA, Salicylic and retinaldehyde all in one. That’s an amazing peel as well.

Hey! Been reading your website and I think I'll try the peel. I've watched one video saying that the safest peel to do at home is the TCA because it doesn't need the neutralizing part, also saw you recommending to start with glycolic peels, and also saw in the platinum website that there's a 13% tca for beginners, but much more interestingly, there's a 7% tca peel for eye area. With your personal experience, would you say I could start with the 7% TCA all over my face or it would still be too strong for beginners? Another question, do you have an opinion about how long to wait between microneedling and peeling?? Anyway, thanks dor the content 😊
@LifeDIY
@LifeDIY 7 ай бұрын
Great questions! If it were me, I would wait at least 2 weeks after microneedling to do a TCA peel. I personally would prefer to wait at least a month after doing a TCA peel (a stronger TCA peel then the one you mentioned) to do microneedling. If the TCA peel isn't too strong (like a 7%-13%) and my skin feels well-healed, then I would feel ok doing microneedling 2 weeks later. But, I try to not go overboard with this stuff and I often wait much, much longer. I think a 7% peel is the safest option to do at home as a trial, if you are nervous and you've never done these peels before. It is possible that it might be too weak though and for some people 13%-15% is a great starter option. Either way, even if the peel does turn out to be a bit weaker than expected, you could always do more than one layer to strengthen it. Regarding the video stating TCA peels are the safest to do at home - I definitely don't agree with that! :) I think for sure, glycolic and other peels are much safer. But, if you're careful and you do some tests and you know your skin, then it's possible to do TCA peels safely at home. But, it just needs to be done at your own risk, because things could go wrong if it's too strong or if you get it in your eyes. Thankfully I have never had any issues. I really want to do a TCA peel again soon and do another video on it. If you have any questions about them, let me know and I can include it in the video!
@lorenaqrz

@LifeDIY I will definitely wait at least 2 weeks between tca peel and microneedling. I'm not sure if I have sensitive skin. First thing I've done to my face was microneedling few days ago, I had a 0.25mm length and I don't intent to go above that this year. My skin got so red, I thought I did something wrong 😅 but next day it was ok. I'll definitely also not go higher than 7% this year with the tca peel. I didn't watch all your videos yet about tca peel but I'll definitely write some questions that may arise after watching them!! Thanks for the replies 🙂

Yes, when I first started microneedling my face would get insanely red. After doing it probably 6 times, it no longer got so red after a treatment. Or, the redness would go away pretty quickly. It sounds similar to what you described. The 7% TCA sounds like a great option, that will be safe to start with!

Yes. Depending on how much solution you have on the gauze you have a lighter or deeper peel. The depth is highly determined by the volume of solution. We encourage you to saturate the gauze, then fold it in half and then give it a squeeze. If its wet - but not dripping - you are good. I am glad that you stopped at that first layer. You did a SUPER job! **Also.. remember that BIG changes to collagen/elastin will take months before they show on the skin's surface. In a few months it will get even better. YES! A series is important. Peels are never "one and done". We like to suggest at least 6 peels in a row. One day in the future think about doing the TCA + Dream Peel for even more flaking.
@LifeDIY
@LifeDIY 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the helpful comment, Jen. That is good to know about the saturation. I may have had it a bit more saturated than normal - where I could have squeezed it out even more. I think the use of Retin A recently also helped. I actually did go over a few areas a bit more to even out the level of frosting. I feel like I could tell when I had done enough. I have learned a lot from your videos about prepping the skin and I think that is why I am having such good results, without any PIH issues yet anyway. :) And, that is awesome to hear that the process continues to take place over the next few months. I really enjoy doing these home experiments. And, I think I was a bit too casual in my excitement about the results when I filmed the video. After recording the end of the video I realized the results were quite significant to me - though to others they might look subtle. I am amazed at the changes so far. I can't even imagine how much of a change 6 peels in a row would create. I am now curious about the TCA plus Dream Peel. Thank you!

Do you use any numbing cream or anything like that? If you have any numbing stuff you recommend, lmk! I've been watching this tutorial here and there for over a year... nervous to finally do the peel that's been sitting in my cabinet! I can do this...
@LifeDIY
@LifeDIY 7 ай бұрын
I don't use any numbing cream with TCA peels and I don't think it's recommended for this, even though it is weirdly painful. I would be scared if numb because I think it helps to feel what is happening, so you know when the peel is neutralized. You'll be ok! You could do a test peel on your hands. I want to do another peel soon too. You can get such great results from TCA peels! I have used a numbing cream for other things in the past and it was this one: amzn.to/452tq5e. If you get one from Amazon, I would just AVOID using a liposomal one. It might work better but you don't want this stuff in your blood stream. There are studies showing severe adverse reactions to over-use of numbing creams. So you might want to look that up (in fact, I will do a video on that someday). Good luck!!! And, please let me know how your peel goes. :)

@joshcoe8760 Жыл бұрын
@@mozziiie For some reason my initial reply to you did not send. The acid will greatly diminish your acne marks, there's no doubt about that. However, if you want to try for complete obsoletion of them, then it would be best to get a few chemical peels done professionally, for a couple reasons. The two main reasons being that they have access to stronger acid rather than what you and I are able to buy from online retailers for cautionary reasons. Meaning that the 70% glycolic acid that I use is not truly 70% because the true strength of 70% glycolic acid is deemed too harmful in the hands of non-professionals. The other reason is that they know which acid peel would be best for you to completely rid of your marks. Which means they might just do a TCA peel, which is stronger than glycolic acid. It's obviously more costly but safer and better results. Anyways, the glycolic acid that I use is from a great site called www.makeupartistschoice.com

The temporary elevation in blood pressure (usually a great thing!), as well as the sweating, & heat, contribute to further inflammation of delicate facial skin, and prolong the healing process. Remember, you are healing burned tissue which is already inflamed. Prolonged inflammation can make your skin vulnerable to all kinds of intruders (bacteria, fungal infection). Everyone is different, and healing times can vary. As a rule of thumb, I'd give it 5 days & then see how well your skin has recovered. Not an expert here, but an experienced peeler.

Can you say what you used days in advance to prepare your skin and what you used while it was peeling?

What percent peel did you use? Also after washing it off did you put anything on your face afterwards? Moisturizer or oils, anything? Sorry to ask but I really want to do a peel but Im also nervous about it. So the peel can actually go under the eyes too?

Personally I think glycolic peels are less user friendly for first time at home use since you have to neutralize glycolic while you don’t with TCA.
