Turn Your WIFI camera into a Floodlight Cam - Wasserstein Floodlight Review

Today, I'm going to show you how you can turn your Wyze Cam V2 and Ring Stick Up Cam into a Floodlight Cam. Actually, this Wasserstein Floodlight which was designed with your WiFi cameras in mind will also work with the Arlo Cameras, Eufy Cams, Reolink and even Blink. If your camera has a 1/4 20 thread on the back, or can be modified to have a 1/4 20 thread and is powered via USB, then it should work with the Wasserstein Floodlight.
I'll be doing a part 2 video on this and I will test these cameras with this floodlight and see how their video quality is when they record in full color at night and with a 2000 lumen bright floodlight. For, now we will be testing this floodlight with my Ring Stick Up Cam 3 or 3rd gen and my Wyze Cam V2.

Thank you for keeping all of us up to date with new products. Sometimes thinking "Out of the Box" means making a new box. If possible, could you talk more about better camera placement or even hiding cameras to capture better angles. Looking forward to more videos!

Game changer! Thanks for the review. Couple things though - 1) a junction box outside isn’t always available, the reason why most people prefer wi-fi cameras outdoor. 2) cool white vs warm lights if you already have an existing lighting set up.

Thank you! Was considering buying this to install under eaves in the corner so I can light up in two directions. Seems a bad idea now. Do you think you can tear it apart and adjust the sensor?

I got the one with the Wyze housing to try it out after my Ring floodlight died (likely just firmware update failure but you can't even use the floodlight if cam isn't working). If you are ok with the Wyze cam detection this works pretty well. It isn't nearly as good as the Ring floodlight cam because of the camera's motion sensor limitation and the fact that you have no control over whether the floodlight cam is on or off. But it is about 1/3rd of the price (less if you are already using a wyze cam for this purpose. Note the biggest problem for me is the bottom part of this. It sticks down and past my light mount on the siding. Even if I didn't have a mount it longer than typical siding overlap so it would stick out past that. Overall this is no different than having your wyze (or any) camera up next to a no-features floodlight. The only reason to consider it is that it has usb port for power.

Your video is super. My concern is facial recognition. Crooks like sunglasses and hoodies. Ceiling mounts may not identify much. Solutions might look into floodlights at ceiling but hidden cams at ground level. Your concept?

Great video but if I was a consumer looking for a ring flood cam I would pay the extra for the real deal. With that said I done have my ring flood for 3 years now. And remember seeing your review on it which lead me to go on and make the purchase. But out of the 3 years and all update during this time. I just wondering do you have problems with the light schedule. Cause when I save a schedule time for the light to come on sometimes before the schedule time. Have you ever had that problem before. Thank You

I don't like those cool white LED lights, if it were a warm light then I'd buy it. Plus not dusk to dawn feature definitely makes it a pass.

It’s a standard hardwired floodlight, with a USB port, and camera mount. So yes, it’ll work like a standard flood light if you don’t put a camera on it. However, I’d go to my local hardware store and pick up a standard one in that case. They’re cheaper that way. Unless your planning to add a camera later in life, I would save your money. 😊

Will the floodlight be so bright and annoying when it turns on and off multiple time a night. I'm reluctant to put a floodlight since I live in a town house.

It's only annoying because it uses a cool white light instead of a warm light.

It is a bright floodlight. So yes it is bright when it comes on. If you want a motion detector light, floodlight isn't what you want.

@@curtisbme I'm not questioning that it's a bright light, I'm questioning the color temperature. I don't like cool white lights, I prefer warm or soft white lights. And floodlights used to be warm in color and also be very bright, before fluorescent and LED's became common. The light was more like incandescent bulbs. One of my neighbors has a couple warm LED's on their garage but cool white LED's at their front door. The cool whites are so annoying and come off as being too bright. Like hospital fluorescent light bright. I currently have warm fluorescent flood lights on my back patio that I can turn on and set for dusk to dawn. If those were the cool white LED's I'm sure it would annoy my neighbors. I didn't start changing out my homes inside lights until LED's had warm light choices, because it's that temperature of light that is more pleasing to my eyes.

I would just get a floodlight camera rather than adding this to a wifi camera, they are not that expensive and work better with more features, not worth it to do this just to save $50 bucks. If you already have a wifi camera, just use that in the backyard.

It’s really a shame that when it’s eves mounted, it looses its range. Would have been perfect otherwise. They should make one specific for that mounting type, or make the PIR adjustable to compensate. Great video though!

You're saving $125, plus it powers your camera, and gives you a flood light, it's a no brainer if you have wyze cams. Ring cams are way overpriced!!
