I like this going to get one..just a note on wire nuts i usually put couple wraps of electrical tape around them...over time from heat then cold i have seen wire nuts unscreew themselves.. Just recently i started using wagos instead of wire nuts.

I have a two story house with a motion flood light near the top of the eve. Doesn’t look like the motion sensor is moveable to point it downward. Also looks like camera might be in the way of the motion sensor for a two story mounting location. Is there a max height suggested mounting location?

Just got one of these lights Pros Very bright light USB port Easy install Cons Over prices for what it is Not designed to stay on all the time . Will only come on when motion is detected . For the price they could have put in 2 USB ports

No, the camera and the light use the same power source. The light only comes on when it's dark out and senses motion .

Cool! Question - I have two floodlights under my eave. Do you think it would be possible to mount this on the eve (vertical instead of horizontal) and still have enough movement on the camera / floodlights to use?

Yes, but the camera mount doesn't really offer a lot of range of motion, so if you wanted the camera pointed horizontally you would have to rig up an extension to it.

They just started pre-sale of the V3 this week, it's weatherproof and you can add an optional spotlight. They say it will be shipping in January.

Can you turn this light on during the day? I've installed and it wont turn on. Do you have to ground it to the green screw? Edit: it only turns on when it's dark. It's so bright, it will blind you if you look into it.

Nice video. Does the floodlight have a manual dusk to dawn mode when you power it off and back on? A lot of lights have that as a default. Would be nice to know if this one does so the light could be used to stay on our back during a BBQ or something like that.

Unfortunately this one doesn’t, I suppose you could pop it open and put a photocell in there instead of a motion sensor if you wanted to.

Limits it a lot. most of us like a dusk to dawn it gives better security having a light constantly on than dark area

It mounts to a standard size junction box, but then extends an additional 3 inches below.

Rather than mounting the lights and camera off of the side wall, can this thing be mounted to the overhang? Is there enough adjustment for it to be able to do that? I have fae stone on my garage face and need to mount to the overhang. Thanks.

I would like this much more if the lights and usb were separate. Basically want a flood light like this that will come on and stay on at night and turn off during the day but still has power to the usb. That's definitely alot to ask though lol especially at this price point.

Doesn't the clear plastic covering the camera lens and IR cause IR flair at night with the IR turned on the Wyze Cam? How about a screen shot of the camera picture with and without the light on at night?

Nope, the lexan is pressed up to the camera, so there isn’t enough room for reflection inside the housing.

I haven't noticed a difference with the night vision, the audio is definitely muffled a bit. I'm hoping the new V3's will be better.

Does that camera have a infrared night vision? If not that makes more sense. But if it does have infrared lights I'm surprised it doesn't reflect back off of the plastic. I would like to know how they do that then.

Where is night detection sensor in this light? I have street lights outside my drive way and this does not turn on at all at night time. Not sure how much dark it requires to turn in? Though camera connects fine arlo pro 4

This floodlight does not have a photo cell so it only turns on when it senses motion.

Yes, the camera will operate 24/7. If you install an SD card in the camera you can also set it up to loop record.

How is the Wyze camera? A while back I heard that it wasn't a good security camera because it shuts down every few minutes or something like that...

The original Wyze Cams are great, their new one, the Wyze Cam Outdoor (their new wireless/rechargeable one) is no good as a security camera.

Unless you buy CamPlus your cameras have a 5 minute “cooling period” which means it will record an event for 12 seconds, stop, and do nothing for 5 minutes, and be ready for another event to be recorded for another 12 seconds, and so on.

@@102179mark No issues, since the plastic sits flush against the camera's lense there isn't a distance between the plastic and the IR LED's to cause glare or bounce.

Yes and no.... check out my video on the v3s. The V3 has a thread mount, but it’s on the bottom, you would have to extend the thread mount on the light to be able to mount the V3 and level it out.

You put the gasket on incorrectly. the adhesive side affixes to the floodlight. not the concrete wall I believe.

The problem with the camera/lighting is over exposure. It's so overexposed (see 9:05) you can't see the face.

It uses cool white LED lights, I hate those they're like hospital lighting. I want a warmer temperature of lights. So this is a pass for me.

@@DoItYourselfDad I'm referring to the Wasserstein mounts. Does it have USB-C? Based on what I saw, I could only find MicroUSB on the new ones. That is definitely a downgrade from standard USB-A. They stopped selling the Wyze v2 mounts with USB-A. I couldn't find USB-C, unless I'm mistaken.

Uhh…. The light is on a motion sensor and a light sensor now, no need to ever switch it off. The power to the camera is never shut off.

Where my switch is it really isn’t an issue, but if it removing the switch and covering it with a plate would be a 5 minute job.

@@21boxhead Not really... you're still going to need USB power to the V3, and even though they do better in low light, they aren't perfect. Not to mention, having a motion-activated light is a deterrent.

The usb cable is unsafe! It’s located so low that can easily be unplugged by the bad guy.
