That is a well built airplane, definitely on my Christmas shopping list

Very well designed/built a/c! The sales guy, very relaxed as he should be. Nice electronics. I am an aerobatic guy; my plane had push-pull tubes too, with lots of expensive rod-end bearings; differential/frieze ailerons (4). CAVU skies. Nice to see organised professional people!

Between the retractable gear and and rugged military styling, I'd have to choose this over the Cirrus SR22.

I got to see this bird on its trip through RYY, and wow! It's stunning, and surprising. I didn't expect the scale, or for it to carry it so well. Every aircraft that went by saw the pilots cranking their heads. What a great video to do this plane justice. The Diamond crew were also super cool too. Some will throw shade before even seeing the plane; don't.

Flying the Diamonds after coming from a long history of Cessna/Beechcrafts from the early 70's I simply love the FADEC and just how much less workload I have to do. They really are the aircraft as we move forward. I'm going to get a lot of flak for saying this but Diamond are actually a level above the old school "standards" of GA we all knew back then. Congratulations!@@LifeStyleAviation

The cruising speed specs I find say TAS 172K at 14K feet. That's actually slower than Cessna Turbo 210s all the way back to 1967.

Now compare the fuel burns and avionics.
@MalcolmRuthven11 ай бұрын
@@brandonadams7837 The Diamond website makes it impossible to compare fuel burns, because it lists its 172K cruise at 82% power but lists fuel burn only for 45% and 60% power. Avionics are replaceable on older planes and have nothing to do with the point I was making.
@PistonAvatarGuy8 ай бұрын
@@brandonadams7837 Same GPH at 170 knots as a Bonanza, with one less seat and less range. The Bonanza is basically 70 year old technology, yet a much newer, diesel powered aircraft can't match its performance. I'd say that proves that diesels really don't belong in aircraft.

Why do I always see Diamonds flying with CAS messages on the G1000? I see “Stall Ht Off” and “Pitot Ht Off” messages.
@luisdiaz214811 ай бұрын
I’m not sure about the Stall HT off message, but the “Pitot Heat OFF” message is common on al G1000’s. It won’t go away until it’s turned on.
@MikeKobb11 ай бұрын
@@luisdiaz2148 Hmm. I fly a Cirrus, which uses a customized version of G1000. It turns on a "PITOT HT REQD" CAS message if the OAT is at or below 5°C (and the same switch heats the AOA/stall sensor on the FIKI planes as well). Basically, the idea on the Cirrus setup is that you should not have any CAS messages visible. If there is a CAS message visible, it's something you need to do something about. I don't think it's a good human factors design to have people get used to flying with visible CAS messages, because then it is easy to overlook one. Imagine, for example, that you did have the pitot heat on, so that message is gone. But some actually important CAS message appears. So now there are two, just like you're used to flying with all the time. 😕
@luisdiaz214811 ай бұрын
@@MikeKobb I share the same opinion as you. I’m not a big fan of having that CAS message always illuminated. I think having an OAT sensor go off and alert you if your Pitot Heat is not on, would be a better idea. However I have gotten used to it, I fly the ARCHER III with G1000’s.

not only it has limited range that makes this plane unpractical for full loaded cross country, but its doesn't have parachute, why you need parachute if you have second engine, well now you dont have it..

@MrSir25527 ай бұрын
Someone’s a Cirrus fanboy lol. Fun fact, the only reason why they put the parachute on those aircraft was so it could pass checks because it can’t get out of a flat spin. Don’t get me wrong, I like Cirrus too, but man is it an exorbitant amount of money for a single prop that doesn’t even have the option of Jet-A1, retractable gear or FADEC yet.

Diamond really needs to stop using the word diesel in their marketing. Either say compression ignition engine or jet fuel powered piston engine. Diesel in the US is not viewed favorable by the public in the automotive sector, don't use it in the GA market.
@timblack3310 ай бұрын
You’re making a generalization there that I do not agree with. Maybe in certain parts of the country diesel is an unfavorable means of propulsion but I seriously doubt it’s the majority consensus. . Anyone that doesn’t appreciate a diesel engine must associate diesel with Kids driving poorly tuned trucks that smoke out every intersection. I currently lease an SR22 and am going to buy something in the next six months. If diamond did not use diesel in their marketing material I would have never even given them a look but when I hear diesel, I think of a heavy duty efficient long lasting engine. . As long as the EPA doesn’t force them to put a DPF and SCR system on these.
