I must have hit the DIY jackpot. I see a lot of complaints about things not fitting but i had zero issues. Everything fit extremely well. Halfway through the process i was expecting some frustration but found it to be pretty satisfying. 2024 Costco purchase.

We just finished this today, (we bought it last fall but we were too confused with the 'manual' to be able to complete it). When we saw it assembled at Costco last weekend we took pictures of a few different things and were finally able to get it to hold together assembled. $600 for the shed and $2000 for the couples therapy. Seriously. What a nightmare.

hahaha on couples therapy. I get it! I had some issues with the left door. The 6 screws would not go into anything. Once I watched the video and made a phone call, I made several attempts until some of it worked. Instructions don't tell you to drill at an angle. Watch the video. On to door #2 lol

Some advice for those building this. Do the doors in opposite order so that you don’t accidentally use the wrong hardware. With the wall support brackets, the “l” brackets need to be offset from the end as far as you can so you can slide them into the floor slots.

Just to add on. That part where they have you drill self tapping screws into those metal rods I ended up skipping. I’m not sure how necessary that is since the roof keeps it all in there anyway. Has been a few months and no issues from that so far. Also I noticed a lot of issues where things don’t seem to fit had a lot to do with not being level. You have to make sure to assemble on 100% level surface. I also had some trouble getting the screws to go into the roof exactly like it should but it is still fine. Had this for a few months now and it is really nice. Just challenging to assemble

I got the Costco Model 2024 60441U. It was not a difficult install. I think it's a great value for the money. I did 90% of it myself with my wife helping for a couple of things. It took about 3.5 - 4 hours. We had to make 2 adjustments both during the roof install. #1 Step 3.6 when putting the roof on the hinge tubes, the hole in the roof would not fit the tubes. We had to use a drill to widen the two holes on the roof slightly to get the door hinge tubes to sink into the roof. I do not recommend cutting the poles like some here have suggested. #2 I had to remove the wall/shelf support channel poles I installed in 2.22 because they were to tall and got in the way of the roof. I removed the wall/shelf support channel poles and installed the roof then put them back on after without a problem. Have fun.

i just bought one from costco with almost the same design. i had no problem assembling it by myself today per the instructions before I have watched this video. the doors are the same color as the roof which is nice. lifetime made the plastic hinges longer than the one on this video which i think is the weakest part of the shed. lifetime should make all metal for the hinges. I also bought another one today because i like the design, size, material, and costco price for $399.99 before tax. Although i like this shed, i think there are still many improvements to be made to make this shed easy to assemble, better alignment of holes, minimize different sizes of screws and use torx head screws, stronger design/material like hinges, better instructions, and suggest buyers to watch assembly video for the specific model. let's us support usa made product.

It's not that bad. If you watch the video beforehand, have the right tools and partner it should be okay. My wife and I did it in 3 hours. You can do the first step, the door hardware by yourself so you just need a partner for putting the walls and roof up. Make sure you have an impact driver with a few extra screwdriver bits in case you break any. I broke 3 bits just trying to get some of those first screws in for the door hardware. A rubber mallet is really good to have as well so you dont damage the walls when you are trying to slide them into place. Make sure you use the right screws in the right places. There are 2 self-tapping metal screws that you will absolutely need later on when screwing into the metal polls. Make sure you put the header on in the roof the correct way as there are holes that need to be facing down for the door latches to go into. Just study the instructions beforehand and have the video reference available on your phone to watch things before you attempt them when you are outside installing. Good luck.

I concur with a lot of other commenters who said that setting this up was tough. It sucked. Here's where it was tough for me. My model was 60441U, not 60331, but the steps were basically the same 3:14 Step 1.4 Right off the bat, putting on the door channel sucked. It's not clear what is the notch where you're supposed to drill those screws in. On the door there's two little channels next to each other, where does the screw go into? The video and the instructions make it sound like the screws will happily drill into the plastic. They don't. You have to drill a smaller guide hole with a drill bit for every hole. Eventually I did that and just make guide holes to put the door channel into. Definitely recommend doing that for the whole setup. 3:51 Step 1.5 One of the screws that is supposed to magically drill into the metal wasn't doing it. I eventually stripped one of my screws, and it sits in the hole not all the way in, and stripped 18:11 Step 3.6 In the final big roof placement, the roof didn't fit into the hinge poles for the front doors. Nothing aligned at all as a result. Had to do some sleuthing to find out it was because the holes in the roof didn't align with the hinge poles. I had to use a drill bit to shave the edges of the holes in the roof that fit the hinge poles to make the holes bigger. Once I did that, the poles finally fit snugly and I was able to finish the remaining steps to attach the roof to the walls.

Completed the build for the most part, by myself, in roughly six hours. This supporting video was very helpful for a 70 year old somewhat handy man. I did have to ask for help to hold the roof down while I secured the supplied screws. I was otherwise able to be creative with backing support when screwing the walls together. Having someone nearby to call for help with the wall and roof installations is certainly a helpful option. Doors do not align perfectly, I am looking for that guidance now from Lifetime.

Just beware, build quality is pretty poor so you will have lots of steps where the screw markings don't line up or where holes are the wrong size. I'm sure they ran into the same issues when making this video because they conveniently cut when those issues are about to show up. I eventually was able to get it made but it took way longer than it should have and I had to modify parts of it

Yes. I also found that temperature becomes an issue because of thermal expansion. The plastic parts expand more than steel parts in the noon. So the alignment is a little better during daytime. The alignment is worse during night time. A lot of adjustments need to be done. 😁

HIGHLY recommend pre-drilling the self-tapping screws into the rods. If you want to hang yard tools in this I recommend omitting the shelf and instead attaching a 2x6 to the inner back with bolts so you have something to attach the tool holder to.

yes! AGREED!!!! pre-drill those "self-tapping screws" (ya RIGHT!!!) that secure the walls by the doors. Otherwise, you are going to thrash the plastic wall material and probably strip the screw.

I’m stuck at 1.4 and my screws just spin once through. I used a hand screw driver too so there was no way I was applying too much torque. Is there nothing that supports the screw once in the plastic? Either way, I’m an engineer and this is a major design flaw. There should be something other than plastic for those screws to tap into

*If you have the Lifetime 60441U shed from Costco, you need this important information.* On step 2.12 in this video you need to first MEASURE the "GCU" tubes prior to installing it in the front corner (L&R) panels. In the manual, the tubes are listed to be 67 3/4" or 172 cm. In my case the tubes were over an inch too long. I installed two of these sheds. For the second shed my GCU tubes were not even the same length out of the box. Both too long. I trimmed them to 67 3/4" before installing them and breezed through the install. Also note if the door tubes don't seat properly into the hinge caps "HNE", dont force them but check for pieces of plastic in both the hinge cap and "GCV" door tubes themselves. In my install there were plastic pieces from inside the door that were blocking the slotted channel from seating in the hinge. Followed the video step by step and took 3.5 hours for the first install taking my time. Second install was 2 hours. Good luck, really nice shed for the price paid.

update: 2022.July.28 ++++++ 1. This is a challenging project. So, be prepared. Manual says 2 hours. It is a joke. It may take you more than 10 working hours to finish this shed storage assembly. It took me almost 3 weeks to pass section 4. A lot of adjustment and fix. 2. Temperature is an issue. Plastic parts expands more than steel parts. So, the alignments may be off (and way off) depending upon when you are building it. 3. Roof position is perhaps the most challenging one. I took wall steel support off in order to make roof position correct. After that, I reinstall the wall steel support back and the screw positions fit much better than before. 4. For those of whom do not have impact drivers, you need to use your drill bit to drill a hole in order to fasten those screws. 5. The shed storage looks nice. If you want to have some fun to build it, this may be for you. If you want a quick assembly, this is definitely not a good one for you. 6. MOVING: Once assembled, if you want to move to another place, you can use forearm forklift to move the shed. Good Luck with your shed assembling. ++++++ old post 2022.June.18 Section 1.4. How did you guys screw in the ADZ screw X 6. I have tried to do this for about 30 minutes. The head of ADZ screw head is somewhat flat. Any suggestion? Did I miss something?

Make sure you have the screw at an angle when your drilling. We also find this step to be easier when you put the screw on the starting point then drill slow and when it catches add more speed and pressure.

It took me almost three weeks to get pass section 3. But I was finally able to put the roof in position. 😁 My suggestion? Temperature is a big factor to consider. I was not able to get the roof fit last night. But I did it in the noon at noon. Some of the alignments are magically in better positions! Felt like a game clearance. One by one. Ha Ha. Will see how it will go. 😅😀😁 At section 3.9, you can clearly see that the the alignment at section 3.11 is weird. However, at section 3.11, the alignment is magically fit! Ha Ha.

@lutravelstheworld 2 жыл бұрын
Just finished mine, and let me tell you, if you want to pay a handy man some cash to assemble it for you, that might just be the best option. If you want to spend seven hours under the sun trying to get bolts to enter through wobbly plastic, then this might just be the right challenge for you. To assemble this, you will need more than just the instruction booklet. You will need some slip joint pliers/ linesman pliers to pull back a screw or bolt when they don’t enter straight through. When it comes time to shoving the rods into the doors, (first steps) you will have to hammer hard with the rubber hammer. On the other end where the rod/ stick comes out, you might have to bend the hole with the pliers to allow the rod to have more room to exit out. The booklet is not too good at showing nut/washers/screw sizes from every angle. They only provide one angle so you must study every nut, bolt, washer/screw carefully. There will be times when you will need to get creative and put two chairs in front of the walls just so they won’t fall on you. Note, it will be best to assemble everything in the place where you will be leaving the shed permanently. Once you start moving it around, you risk having the doors coming apart. It is not the best quality of a shed, but it does look pretty good when you are done. In one of the bags with parts, they provide a screwdriver Bit in case you want to use it. I did not use it, so I can’t provide you with feedback if it is good quality or not. I used my own. This video helps more than the booklet, but you will need both to get every angle of everything. It's a difficult shed to put together, but it is doable and rewarding at the end.

In short, it's takes a little time, a little patience, but it was pretty easy, with one big caveat... You need BOTH, the written instructions and this video. Combine these two, and this project is easy, however do it without both, and I can see how this becomes a nightmare. Cheers

For the self tapping screws you really need to go back the drawing board. They are a complete fail. I called your support and all they say is "use more torque" on your drill. Also I was told you included a "drill bit" on the phone. NO a phillips head bit is not a "drill bit". THose self taping screws strip if you use a powerdrill with your bit. FULL STOP. So I had to get an actual metal drill bit and force the holes bigger. THE SELF TAPING screws should be something other than phillipshead. Also I think my roof is warped... No way to line it up.
@thomasnoe2714
@thomasnoe2714 2 жыл бұрын
Those screws strip even with a hand screw driver. The answer your support gives "more torque" is unacceptable when the screw just strips. Customers should not be expected to find creative replacements for that particular screw that you use a handful of times.

I just put together style 60300 from Costco. This is a different assembly than the one I have. Could not find a video for the one I bought however this is as close as I can get. To install the doors unto to cabinet is impossible without a drill bit to go through metal. The metal that is insert to support the wall is where the hinge attache. Not sure how well the wall will be supported after we drill 6 holes in it to support the door hinges. Thought I might have done something wrong so had my neighbor read through it and came up with same thing. It looks like it will be sturdy until I realized we will be drilling 6 holes in each one. Holes didn't always line up so nice like it was for this guy in the video but with a little slant of the screw it worked. If I can't get the doors on, back to costco it will go.

I was able to straighten the roof by placing it in the sun with some weights on it. Loosened one wall support L bracket completely and only attached after all other steps were done. It would not allow the roof to fit. Screwed a side wall first instead of the back wall. Guy in video is using an impact driver which I don't have. I had to pre -drill the metal tubes. also, have one person inside push UP on the edges of the roof support beam while another person pushes from the outside...inward on the side walls and down on the roof at the same time....otherwise the metal beam will stop the wall/roof from aligning correctly on the sides

Any advice on getting the roof to line up and screw on? Having trouble keeping it aligned
@Gregdescargar

Get 2 people to put downward and sometimes side pressure on the roof outside to get the holes to matchup while you screw from inside. It’s crucial that the holes matchup up. Focus on screwing it in in sections. Go screw by screw and take your time.

This is rhe worst thing we have ever tried to put together. We are around 4 or 5 hours on it and still not done. We are going to rewatch this video and see if we missed anything. At the moment the roof isn't going on well, we had to walk away again. Our neighbors are laughing at the difficulty on this, they will not be buying one. Is it so hard to lable bolts and screws, the parts. A number system works well. We put lots of things together, but this is horrible. I was going to buy another one for my mother, but I'm pretty confident thats not going to happen, I dont want to go thru this again. It is not far from putting on trailer and taking it back to Costco. I want it to work, but this is beyond ridiculous. Maybe I'll tell costco to assemble it for us.

Who designed this shed? and the manual? These crazy people made the metal bar wholes so tiny and they asking us to put the screws through them. Do you know what happen next? The screws got stripped and stuck in the metal bar. OMGoodness....what is wrong with the world today? I spent 1 day and a half trying to put this together. There are two issues and if you don't know how to resolve them you will have a hard time putting this together. 1st issue: when you are at step 1.5 putting the deadbolts on. Don't follow their instructions or this video. You will need to take a drill bit that is a little bit bigger size 11/64 and drill the wholes on the metal bar first to make them a little bigger. Then after that, you can put the screws in without any problems. If you accidentally drill the whole a little bit wider, go and buy 5/8 inch pan head Phillips (or any size that will fit the wholes) then you should be able to go through. 2nd issue: when you are at step 3.6 putting the roof on. The GCU wall hinge tubes will not fit. You don't need to cut it as it will take too much time. You need to take an exacto knife and cut the wholes on the roof to make them bigger so the tubes can go into them. Follow this video and also try to glance at the manual to make this a successful installation. Seriously, this is a terrible product making us the customers going through so much hard time putting this together.

Step 2.23 beginning at 14:45. The back wall supports. Lined them up perfectly but could get the steel support to be flush with top of wall no matter how I tried. If you make it flush, then the bottom of the support near the flooring is well below it’s designed slot. Had to either bend the steel support (hard to do) or drill into a new hole, which I chose to do. This not satisfactory either because the steel support rod was no longer resting inside its designed insert. Incredibly frustrating. Returned to Costco.

Hi Anthony! Sorry to hear you didn't have a great experience while assembling this system. We've also found this step to be easier when you start screwing from the middle first rather than the top. This will help create some wiggle room so you can adjust the rest of the wall channels as needed. It may also be beneficial to have someone pushing the top end of the wall panel inward while you drill to help support the channel to go in with out the wall bowing. If you have additional questions you can always reach out to our customer service experts. They can be reached at 800-225-3865 or by email at customercare@lifetime.com. Customer Service hours are Monday-Friday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm (MT).

We just bought this at Costco. The instructions were straightforward and the hardware for each section was bagged and labelled with drawings in the instructions of each piece needed and the sizes of screws . It went together extremely well. The only issue we had was alignment of the roof and that was only because our patio wasn't exactly level. That was an easy fix with a shim or 2. Everything lined up perfectly. I didn't even swear once which is quite amazing for me because I am easily frustrated with stuff that doesn't work. It took us about 3 hours and that was going slow. Don't listen to the bad reviews. Just review the instructions carefully and watch the video.

Buyer beware! This shed it a POS! We ended up returning the shed to COSTO 12 hours after buying it, and didn't get any further then the second step on the first page. The screws to secure the metal center plate to the door where too large as were the screws for the door latches. In total we spent close to three hours and only drilled in eight screws. We have another Lifetime shed that I put together a few years back and which was much easier to build. This one was a complete nightmare. I don't know what Lifetime was thinking, but this shed it a absolute swing and miss. And that's tough for me to say since Lifetime if better than Rubbermaid by a mile, but I can't say enough bad things about this shed.

Sorry to hear that you had a difficult job assembling the system especially in the floor aspect. The floor is a two-person task. We've found it best to have one person holding the floor down on the ground by standing on it while the other person angles it at 45 degrees and inserts the second piece. If it doesn't catch after preforming this task, we would love to take a further look to see if there is a molding issue. If you still have the shed, please reach out to us at reviews@lifetime.com with pictures of your build so we can take a look at what else could be going on.

DO NOT BUY !!!! HORRIBLE INSTALLATION REALITY: we bought this from Costco thinking it would be even better since it’s made in the USA , turns out after installing this shed I really think the Chinese really know how to manufacture and have the correct tolerances and radiuses correct with years of experience in this type of field, This shed has the worst diameter measurement for holes , it feels lazily manufactured and some of the rods is not cut properly, most importantly that makes this consume more time is the fact that none of the actual screws are labeled I saw their response …just to save on manufacturing cost(wow company is that greedy?) anyways I had to make bigger holes in the roof to fit the rods from the door hinge rod, worst of all, there are no holes in the door rods itself( assuming it again manufacture cost savings) I took half the day trying to make a whole for the door rods, shelf is an inch short from the end, I wasn’t a fan of the floor being connected from half and half I rather just have one piece made already, the screw holes that you are supposed to screw into is barely visible sometimes even having the screw protrude a bit, just saying again just because it’s made in the USA does NOT make it Better STAY AWAY!!!!!

All of the holes are not properly drilled out even the ones for the steel to Sarah supposed to go through the doors now I know that you guys prepped everything before you started putting together in an air conditioning building but these things warp extremely bad and if there’s anybody that likes to put projects together they will hate these shades because they suck The person that likes to put something together and take their time they will find out that they suck. This is the second shed that my wife bought she took the big one back to Costco the one that had the windows in the doors and the ones I had the windows on the front and a little vents on the left side in the right side of the shed the roof come together in four pieces it’s sucked we took it back it took us 20 minutes to take it apart because it’s a piece of crap and brought it back to Costco and got over $800 back. The smaller one that does not have any Windows absolutely sucks as well I can’t post a picture of the screw hole that’s in my right hand because I was trying to drill into the little tube that slides into the door and it came loose and went right into my right past the palm of my right hand these things are pieces of shit. If you want junk then buy one of the sheds if you want something real go to somebody that prefabs everything and brings it to your house and put it together all ready to go in a very short period of time. Don’t buy plastic sheds. Get one from Home Depot or Tuff shed because this thing is a piece of shit and you’ll wind up throwing it away in a couple of years and start all over again After you buy one of these you will feel that you need a check up from the neck up and why did you spend all of your money on him box full of warped plastic
