No drinks for me 'til after training... I usually train in the evening, even if I just have a singular drink or two at lunch and then you're going for heavy lifts that night... it does nothing but throw everything off, get some killer cramps no matter the hydration and your body just isn't functioning to optimal performance.... so after taking note of how drastically it impacted my performance I now hold off on drinking til after training, never before... Now if you're at home and doing some yardwork, auto stuff, or what have you then knock yourself out lmao but def don't mix drinking and lifting it's just a huge detriment and not worth it!

I've tried a beer before training while in a hypertrophy phase and it definitely helped the pump. Tried it again during a strength phase and it made training feel worse

Chris Duffin has said that doing shots while doing heavy lifting has some carry over on being more explosive of a lifter. He’s explained it on mark bells and Lex Friedman podcast

@@Zooky424 that’s true! If I remember correctly he explained that it helped with blood flow in the body, and also had effects on the central nervous system which would temporarily increase force output or some scientific 🧪 shit to that effect.

@@notchback93 If I think back about it. I've never boxed nor fought anyone or anything but I got 805points on a punching machine after drinking. I was even scared to hit the machine cause Ive never tried those so it was a half assed hit :D Maybe I hit it way harder than I would sober? I dont know.. I'm 173cm and 73kg and not very strong compared to many gymrats :D

I spent some time in Shanghai and at every gym i trained at, some old guy showed up drinking beer between sets. All the locals said it was the norm over there. I always scratched my head at that.

Drinking on gear fucked my blood pressure so bad lol I can only drink like once a month during a cruise or medium dosed mild blast.

@@mistermister1366 hell ya I feel you, my blood pressure got up to a little over 200/100ish during a blast after drinking on the 4th. I was having insane anxiety attacks too and had to go to the hospital. From what I've read I believe the alcohol increases my estrogen even more. Lol I have to do so much to keep my blood pressure under 135ish during a bulk. All worth it tho. If I drink on a cruise and keep it under a certain amount of alcohol I'm good every once in a while but that's it. And I still feel extra shitty the next day I just don't die. Not worth it.

I love beer but I don't think it's good for the muscles at all if it's not moderate lol I drink everyday though, but just a bottle a day so it's not much

Smoking weed as pre workout does help I think, it definitely leans you out and you can ignore pains and really push yourself. I have used it that way for many years with success, but you won't see the injuries coming when they do.

The incredible lesson here is that even if you do a ton of shit wrong & actively sabotage your own gains, copious amounts of steroids will still slap some muscle on your body. Hopefully this guy will find his lost brain cells before he gets too drunk and crushes his neck under 315lbs.
