Lifting My Honda Fit Part:3 - Do 205/60/16 Tires Fit On A Honda Fit? - Yokohama Avid Ascend GT

In our first video we did some base testing on a set of aftermarket rims and tires (205/50/16) that was about the same diameter and offset of a stock Honda Fit 16" rim. It did and didn't pass the log test and required some assistance for the Fit flex test.

Part:2
After going up a tire size (205/55/16) we gained about 1/2 " of clearance. Although minimal, we were able to complete the log test without dropping on the 4x4 as hard as we did in the previous test. We did scrape a little bit on the Fit Flex test, but we were still able to drive over and complete the hump. This was something that was not possible on the 205/50/16s without the use of assistance. Part:3
This is where I planned on installing the Tema 4x4 lift kit. The Tema 4x4 spacer kit is a decent kit, but not really recommended for people who do a lot of driving. At least that's what I was told, so I decided to go up another tire size. 205/60/16. This lifted the Honda Fit almost 1" The clearances are getting tight, but only seems to rub the fender liner on a full turn.

If you can weld or know a welder, you can lift the strut plates in the front and add taller shocks and springs in The rear. I had a dodge neon lifted this way and was able to have 22 inch rims with zero rubs.

Honda should just hire you as a field tech. I admire your enthusiasm and how in-depth your videos are. How many miles are you up to now?? Do you have any plans for changing suspension? I need to replace mine on my GE8 soon

Thank you Brogan. I just hit 115k Miles. I'm going to try the Honda Insight or HRV springs and see if they actually lift your Fit or just stiffen the suspension.

This is really cool! I love how you take a great econobox car and make it an adventure-mobile. I'm curious why you chose low-profile wheels for this. Wouldn't normal profile tires be more durable over bumps and potholes?

Thank You. The Sparco Terra Rim has about the same specs as a the stock 16" Honda Fit rim, its just 1" larger in width. The 205/50/16 tire was about the same diameter as the stock 16" tire, but also 1" wider. I'm essentially on a stock rim & went up two tire sizes.

I have never done this but I have been told when you modify one thing, you should modify everything related to it. Stock is fine tuned for what the manufacturer intended it's use for. You need to come up with the formula that best suits your use

This is the only reason I'm not lowering my suspension or putting larger wheels on! I can afford it, but not all the other related work that'll come! 😂

You're correct. Even an intake and exhaust should be tuned after installation. If not, you may have even be decreasing Horsepower. An alignment or other suspension parts may be required when lifting or lowering your vehicle.

You should have no problems. It's the same diameter as the stock 16" rim, it's just 3/4" wider.

Don't let me steer you away from the lift kit. There's plenty of happy Honda Fit owners that have it. I was told not to get it based on all of my long distance road trips. Instead, I'm going to install the Honda Insight/HRV springs. They should lift car up a bit more or so I've read...

Higher. 205/50/16 is similar to stock. 205/55/16 Gains 1/2" 205/60/16 Gains 1"

Thank You. I was advised not to install the spacer kit if I was still going to go on long distance road trips. I'm going to try installing the Honda Insight or HRV springs. It should lift the car up some and or stiffen the suspension.

@@HondaFit4AdventureHonda fit ge’s (previous gen to yours) are compatible with insight springs, they will lift the back a little bit because they are stiffer. In the front they make no difference, from all the lift kits I’ve seen from sitting on forums they all use insight springs in the back and the spacers in the front. Otherwise the car will have a raked stance.

@@HondaFit4Adventurenot sure if the insight springs will fit this generation, as far as I know, no one has tried it yet. The rear axle beam, whatever it’s called seems to be a slightly different design than the previous two generations

@@bulgarianicedtea7897The insight springs will work on the rear of the GK5. They wont work on the front of the GK5 for the reasons that you mentioned above. I have a 16 gallon Auxiliary fuel cell in the back, so that slight lift that the insight springs will give me in the rear will help out at full load.
