Really enjoy these tutorials. I stayed away from the compositor till now but these examples really help me to understand the process more & how to use it thank you Chris. Def would like to see more of these. If you're looking for challenges for future videos I've so much I'm trying to muddle through that I'm sure you'd have a better way of doing & may help lots of others who are having similar issues. Keep up the great work!

Thanks for this ! I'm trying to adapt it for rim light on a 2D character. I'm using multiple view layers instead of an image, so I can't use the real time compositor. I will experiment with this cryptomatte node too, I didn't know about it 👀

View layer support would be great. for simplpe A over B comp I wwondering Material Ids or Object IDs could help with that

Thanks for the tutorial! I do agree with you about the compositor. The real time compositor seems to be great for scenes only in blender, however for integrating elements from other software/real footage, the old compositor is better and should also be made faster. One note about the result: after you add the shadow, the light spills over the bottom of the bucket, which is weird. Either the light should not get there OR make the bucket floating, where the light can reach the bottom. Thanks again!

You could also mask out the bottom with a gradient multiplied onto the light wrap layer.

Interesting technique and good to become a bit more into the real time compositor and to manage the early version problems. In general the refections loses some exposure, especially when on dark surfaces; probably you can manage the undesired transparency effect, with that too.

@@jatinjulka6478 I think you must ask to Chris or ask to Blender foundation. I have a downloaded of the first experimental RTC on my pc, but I think that is obsolete, because I didn't followed it.

@@simoneiorio9703 they removed it from public access , as per the person who made this he said on his website that it will come in orignal stable update in next year or so but no release date till now nd i m working on some project nd want this viewport Compositor cause its very helpful for me

@@chrisprenn Maybe you could record a video on how editing a tutorial in the VSE would work for you? (If you grab the beta VFR is supported, so screen recordings will not have sync issues).

@@chrisprenn Ok yes 100%...I think GPU acceleration in the actual compositor as well would make much kore sense. So none of the documentation about this project mentions any such future implementation right? 🤔 Strange. 👀

Hi Alex! Yes, same thing. You can find Blender chroma keying tutorials on KZfaq and then add the light wrap effect onto your subject just like in this tutorial.
