The red birds, the sunflowers the compendium is coming together nicely. My takeaway is that the Foursacrowd pretends to be harmless in order to attract food? No one would miss tourists or transients, I'm sure it eats well especially during the Halloween season!

It's not as bad as the story where an exterminator was called to deal with these tiny spiders were living in the eyes and through out the customer and his wife's body including her stomach. After the exterminator found a web 1000s upon 1000s little spiders and they all came out of every space possible and they ended covering him completely and ended up getting in his eyes and lungs and every place they could. Lighthouse did this story also if you haven't listened to it yet I recommend it.

@@island_girlomg freaking palmetto bugs are the worst. Living in Florida I have and I forget sometimes that they can fly so you see one on the wall and go to kill it just to have take flight. One night I was sitting just scrolling KZfaq and all of the sudden out of nowhere this 3.5 inch flying thing came straight at my face. I had no idea wtf it was until I saw it crawling on the pillows next to me, best believe I didn't rest until it was smashed beyond recognition and flushed down the toilet. I can't believe one how big it was and two how my scream didn't wake up my neighbors. 😂

This was a pleasure to listen to tonight! I love the slow and almost relaxing build-up in the first half, with the narrator's skepticism and focus on his surroundings, and then the surprise ratcheting up of the horror in the latter part. As soon as it had finished, I replayed the story in my head.

It's similar to the Dark Tower rose, but less of a key or powerful item, and more an indication of supernatural or at least "strange" activity (and just a fun easter egg from the author - they throw a reference in all their work, calling back to another work of theirs). So is the Hatchet Corporation; Hatchet is used a bit less than the blue sunflowers, but it's also from this author's shared world.

@@kyleoliver637 Stephen King's The Dark Towel series of novels. It's excellent although the last book or so was a big disappointment to many, as King usually did struggle with endings, especially by the time he was wrapping up that masterpiece of a series. It is a must read and hey you might be one who likes the ending. (My understanding of King's newer work is it is all struggle now, but I've only read one of his books in the last decade.) Oh yeah, anyway there's an important rose in that series. I won't spoil it.

Yeah, I don’t care how intriguing the legend or folklore may be, you couldn’t get me to camp out in some decrepit and crumbling paper mill with the intention of seeing a creature… Even if it was supposedly tame, friendly, or downright heroic, helll no. I’d have to be strapped to the gills with a myriad of firepower and blades to even get within miles of that area! There’s no viral video or fame to make me want to intentionally put myself in a situation where I’d be up against an as of yet unknown being that may or may not have the tendency to perceive me as a meal…
