I’ve just gotta comment on the “antics of a heavy metal band” It’s hilarious because every up and coming metal band I’ve met in the scene here in FL are like big teddy bears. Always super kind and respectful to any place hosting them and the patrons alike. I have a feeling it’s not too different anywhere else lol

You might have a point…I will say at least Alice Cooper and Dee Snider have proven to be something close to decent people. Not at all like their “Rock n’ roll” predecessors like Mick Jagger who were having drug and booze fueled orgies with 12-14 year old girls and didn’t even really try to hide it, only starting to keep their pedophilic antics behind closed doors when their popularity declined enough that people took the rose colored glasses off and started asking serious questions.

One of the coolest bands I ever met was Disturbed in Denver, Co. My daughter is high functioning autistic and loves those guys and they showed nothing but love back to her. So awesome to see a girl in E.G.L. like her idols, Baby Metal, get a group hug photo😊

This actually reminded me of the Twilight Zone episode “The Monsters are Due on Maple Street” for the middle portion before it went off in a different direction. Nice story and well read as always!

At the very start the way they just cleaned up the room no questions asked rubbed me the wrong way but by the end this story really got me. It's so rare to see one of these stories where it feels like supernatural evil but each individual part could be explained reasonably. Very hard to pull that off well.

"The problem with that is Corpse Rot never found fame or fortune." This presupposes the devil is real, the devil excepts sacrifices from humans, the band would have performed the ritual correctly, AND the band would have worded their request correctly. Just because you didn't get something doesn't mean you didn't ask for it.

and further assumes the devil will comply withe tuls of the band members and the life of the heir demands. The question is why would it do extra work since it already got what it wanted the souls of the band members and the murder of the girl. What could the band members offer in the future? About wording it correctly... you can't. There will always be a way to interpret it so that it gets twisted against you.

Damn, I wish that's what an independent tour was like. When I was in a metal band if we weren't playing we were driving or trying to scrounge money for the dollar menu. Also, Atomic Witch and 10,000 Rambo's are two actual metal bands in the Cleveland scene if anyone is interested.

I really found myself engrossed with this story! Even though I love your work, the supernatural stories with overt spiritual or religious undertones do creep me out way more than those of the less spiritually-based ones. Still, ignoring my quiet panic, I listened till the end. And it was a well-communicated tale! I just feel a bit of panic at the Satanic-type stuff. Won’t stop me from listening, though. Also, my brother is the lead singer (well, growler) of a death metal band. And yet he can rent motel rooms without destroying them him and his whole band. People who go in and rent rooms and destroy them because they're rappers or you know heavy metal/ death metal bands just for appearances And apparently it would be fun for them, is just stupid (imho)

Corpse Rot? What a name for a band. I’m from a small town and me and few of the guys got together and came up with a new punk rock group. We wanted to have a really cool name. So, one of the guys in the group came up with this really wild name that was very original. We called ourselves, The Athlete’s Foot! We couldn’t get any gigs in the town. So, we took the band on the road and got a few one nighters at a few dive bars. I dunno if anyone’s every heard of us. We had this hit song back in the 70’s, “Ass Crack of Love.” We eventually had to disband the group when we got barred and thrown out of this leper Colony in Muleshoe, Texas. Believe me, you gotta try real hard to be escorted out of a Leper Colony. They didn’t even want us to finish the 3rd set. I blame all our troubles on our drummer. You can’t be taken seriously as a punk rock group when he wants to open the show with a Ventriloquist Act. Anyway, at least we tried to make it in show business but things just went from bad to worse.

This story feels more like the real culprit is ignorance and a lack of therapy in small towns. The gal likely did run away with the heavy metal band, they broke up due to lack of fame and lived normal lives, and their messy album cover is just that, they were just too lazy to clean up after themselves in the hotel room and left to avoid consequences. The gal likely just did not want to talk with her ignorant family anymore which is the reason for the lack of contact. The small town being full of gossip and ignorance, basically ran with the tale and blamed every odd occurrence on this band for no logical reason, not helped by how the motel owner had an unhealthy obsession with the girl. Even the detective was influenced by the hysteria, what he saw in the smoke wasn't a demon, just a hallucination from being in the burning building for that long... it's pretty simple to explain away the things in this tale with how realistic it was in its writing. It can easily be seen as just small town ignorance, which in itself is a scary thing. Or you can see it as paranormal with the ending. But all in all it is a good story.

Reminds me of another story about bands. Except the Devil was the main guy in the band . I think the story is named Billy's Goat or something. It was narrated by demon creep. What a lot of people dont know is that the Devil stopped making deals with metal bands in the mid/late-80s. Now metal bands have to be Christian to get any kind of supernatural assitance. Music sounds largely the same though.

What happens? When mutations occur, the body prioritizes the chemicals of the system...... so what if the immune system takes control? And the red blood cells become a secondary system able to transform, change, and even repurpose itself. Will we spit venom, or fly? Who knows. What I do know is, when I stabbed a needle ( last ditch attempt to escape) the small sample drawn in the hypodermic had no visible red blood cells.
