It's time again to do some hazard reduction burning on our other property before storm season. Come with me as I do a bit of hunting between making firebreaks and lighting fires.

Excellent vid (of course!) Always love your hunting etc. but it was really nice to be reminded of how crucial sensible pro-active sustainability and / or fire hazard reduction methodologies are. Imagine the potential carnage if this fuel load was left unmanaged for the fire season.

That’s exactly right mate. If more people and the councils did a lot more controlled burn offs there would be no where near the amount of bushfires that we get every year. There is way too much fuel building up in places and just asking for a mad fire and then when it happens they blame it on climate change or something when it could have been avoidable.

Haha yes. Unfortunately I didn’t get the chance to film any of the dozer and grader work but it was so dusty that you probably couldn’t see anything anyway for dust 😂

I use 55gr Hornady soft point. I buy the boxes of 6000 as they are the cheapest but still shoot really well.

Hey Josh a nice burn 🔥 just a few mls of rain to get some nice green pick. How do you find the Komatsu grader? My son did his apprenticeship with Komatsu about 20 years ago and he reckons all their gear was good 👍 except for their graders 👎Did not have a very good reputation. Nice video Mate

Yeah hopefully we can get some rain soon. Not much good feed down there for the cattle. We got this grader about 2 years ago third hand and it has been a great machine. Never given us any trouble but has been looked after too. I enjoy driving it. Although I can’t say I’ve every driven another grader so can’t really compare it to anything. But have been told they they seem to be pretty well built and good machines so the will tell. It’s only done 4000hrs.

Indigenous people only burn very small areas, about spear throwing distance across so when the roos and wallabies come for the green pick they can spear them. They did numerous areas a few miles apart so as to get food. No other reason.

Yes and everyone says they did it to look after the bush but we all know it was to help them catch food to eat. But while doing so it did help out the bush.
