On May 29, 2021, Lily Cornell Silver and her mom Susan Silver did a livestreaming for The Mental Health Coalition on Instagram to talk about the generational differences in approach to and acceptance of mental health and how Susan helped Lily to build her own mental health toolbox starting from a young age. They are joined by Dr. Marc Brackett of @ruler_approach who elaborates on the importance of preventions vs. interventions, the validity of distraction as a coping technique, and more.

Two incredibly brave, sensitive and strong women! Lily definitely seems to have inherited the good from both parents. Still so heartbreaking to think about the loss of Chris and it's impact on his family.

This really moved me. A groundbreaking discussion that's truly helped me through my usual self-medicating day. Wish someone had been brave enough to address this before. For the first time, I'm learning not to feel like a pariah and there are mechanisms to help me cope and heal. Thank you so much Lily and Susan for your honesty.

I think it's wonderful you are touching on mental health. I am disappointed that I no longer see the current videos. Maybe you are just posting somewhere else but for what it's worth thank you for bringing the subject too light

We love u two. Some strong ladies. Susan, u were done soooo dirty and im sorry. Im sorry that it happened to be from a super famous rocker , making people a lil oblivious over what u two must have dealt with. I have common sense so i can see... Im sorry Lily that your life had to feel that way. I lived the same but my dad is just some Normal narcissist. Ur forgiveness is huge. Ur loving towards ur silbiling, knowing they didn't ask to be born into their life. All I know, is from what ive seen, look after ur lil sister. Ur gonna be fine. U have the tools and i think people around her are making her think they are shoulders to lean on. They will guide her wrong. Just keep her close. U can cope!

I usually have a lot of bad things I believe the internet and technology has done to humanity, but in this case this is an example of the good it can do. Thanks for making this video and God Bless the both of you.

Thank so much for this series Lily! Especially loved this episode in talking about tools, and openness about parents & children in relation to mental health. I have stuggled myself with depression. My experience was very much like your moms growing up. I told myself it would be different with my own kids and have always stressed listening & identifying feelings from a early age. My daughter suffers from panic attacks, anxiety, & depression. We are always looking for other strategies to help prevent &/or interventions to use during attacks. Again, thank you so so much!!

Such beautiful women. I’m so happy that Chris Cornell married well twice - his children are well loved, well brought up, kind, eloquent, talented and after all this time, they look happy. Thank you Vedder family and ALL of your wonderful friends (too numerous to name🤗) for being there for both families. This is how we heal deep pain and sorrow. ❣️❣️❣️

I think his daughter is real strong for speaking out on mental health.. if someone is going threw depression it’s a pretty dark And lonely place😔 In my life it seems I can’t do anything good and now it seems like I can’t ven work anymore due to issues so yeah. Sometimes suicide seems like a way out of the problems not saying it is but it can seem that way when you are down

That’s a really stupid thing to say. You could say “what if” about every single moment in time. For example, I could say - “If CC stayed with SS maybe he never would’ve gotten sober”. See what I mean? Your comment insinuates that his life got bad because he was married to VC…but the same could be said for how sick he was during his marriage to SS. Suggesting that the wife - either wife - was responsible for his fate is a rotten thing to do.

You never know, but it seems like Susan and Vicky were both strong women in his life and that wasnt enough he had other things he was battling it sounds like. Good to see his daughter is being proactive about mental health and wants to help others. Something positive is coming from CC passing.
