Limeni is a beautiful village in the Mani region of the Pelopennese, mainland Greece. I visited with my family in late May 2024 and was surprised to see signs warning of sea turtles swimming in the waters near shore. Unbelievably, we saw 4 of them and I even managed to swim with 2 of them - longer video will follow!
It is not too wise to get too close to wild turtles, they are wild animals and as such, have been known to bite occasionally. However these turtles are incredibly friendly and have been almost tamed by the local restaurant feeding them the by-produce of the fish they serve. This has meant they are not scared of humans and have a reliance on the food they provide.
