A step-by-step method for developing unlimited chromatic vocabulary!
By following these rules you'll be able to generate intervallic chromatic melodic cells which can be chained together to create long outside lines and phrases between chord tones. These can then be used to play over changes by using one of your pre-learned vocabulary phrases which fits the interval. A great way to generate language from Bebop and swing genres through to modern and fusion styles.

I like this very much, I use a slightly more practical (less rules, less thinking) version of this. I call it you're only 1 fret away from a successful resolution or, "I meant to play that"! Seriously, this is excellent because it makes the intervals purposeful rather than accidental. ;-)

This is incredibly valuable! Not only did I learn what rote learning means, I also learned an interesting way to use chromaticism. Btw, at around 5:30 in the video, there's a dark orb that flew by your head.

Hi Charles, this is really interesting. I've seen a number of Galper's videos online and they're incredibly helpful. Do you think you could post a couple of screenshots of the Forward Motion book. I can't find any images of how it looks / reads, just the cover, and I'd love to see it before I buy
