Linda Ronstadt could sing anything in any genre. Country, blues, pop, rock, bluegrass,show tunes, Tejano, folk, you name it, she could, and did, sing it and sound sensational. One of my favorite singers of the 60's and 70's. Likewise Johnny Cash. You know one of my favorite things about this performance? Watching him listen to her at certain parts. He was possibly more impressed than he thought he’d be. And he did such a good job at framing her up as if to display a flower. He wasn’t “show-boating” or anything even though it was his show. He was humble and showed her to be admired. AND LORD DID SHE SHOW UP FOR THAT BEAUTIFUL PERFORMANCE. The professionalism and mutual appreciation seemed so good, and such a VERY RARE opportunity for anyone to witness. THE OTHER ONE of my favorite things, is the perfection of how their vibratos matched and fell together. I mean, Hi, can you please exquisitely tell a story about a suicide yet make it sound adorably charming..?? Almost irresponsible how well they did that song! LOL!

Ms Ronstandt was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, she is 67 years old, and had difficulty walking, never mind trying to do aerobics. Is not lack of discipline. Is simply hard to even do simple tasks. She has given us so much of her talent, just let her be.
@unamckillen712510 жыл бұрын
I agree. I find it hard the judgments made on a woman if she "lets herself go". Linda already had a difficult syndrome before her Parkinsons. No-one remains a "babe" forever. Even if a woman is well herself, she may have caring responsibilities, and these increase as we age, and preclude a slavish adherence to a gym routine. (I know that when Linda was young she ran regularly and worked out - almost obligatory where she lived.) As you say, she has given us so much of her talent. She has had a long, amazing career and interpreted songs in ways we will never forget. That is a legacy, not retaining the body of a "babe" into your 70s.

She was nice too. It is an old-fashioned concept but she she so was. Emmy-Lou Harris experienced that niceness when Gram Parsons died. Linda was such a good, kind, loyal friend. She looked after her musicians too, recording their songs (Andrew Gold, Little Feat and others) and just supporting them. I saw a concert recorded in Central Park and Linda was like a fond mother with her boys; bouncing around the stage and show-casing all their music. She was one of the most generous, selfless musicians I have ever seen. I so wish her well now she can't sing. She is a better person than me so she will find causes till the day she dies.

As somebody who became disabled in my early 60s, I find the comments on Linda's affliction with Parkinsons very cruel. One thing about life is that there always change whether we expect it or not. Linda had a fantastic career as a singer and has received numerous awards. She did not ask for this disease nor did she expect it to happen, just like Michael J Fox, so lets have some respect here!

Linda is still beautiful, even at 75 and the Parkinson's did not change that. My mother died of something very similar to Parkinson's and like Linda she will still stunning.

@@jimiclemente1 True words. I once judged a friend about his pain. I worked hard Physically demanding outside work all my life. It got to the point of torture. I never mentioned to my friend that I doubted his pain. But he was the first person I called to ask his forgiveness of my stupidity. That was hard but I had to admit it. Now I have terrible chronic pain and I am Judged as I wrongly Judged him. We are still the best of friends. People don't have a clue until they have the same shoes on so to speak.

I remember watching this show and at the time it was quite shocking that she was in a mini-outfit barefoot onstage singing before she joined Johnny Cash because people were not used to seeing that but when Linda opened her mouth and sang all were hypnotized by her stunning voice.

I was totally in love with her. Some years after this was recorded (around 1978) I was working in an office. A new girl started working there. She was the double of Linda Rondadt. I was smitten and talked to her a lot and felt there was a connection. Then I met her boyfriend. Six foot six and full of muscle. The end.

@@jorgea.rodriguez1952 the story goes that way. June Carter knew that Linda Was wearing no underwear. or better, never was. And she also knew her husband...so she was searching for a pair of panties for Linda.
