Do you know any of the Spanish players well enough talk to them about their struggles with the Federacion? World's best team (sorry USA but it's going to be a while before we catch up), world's worst org. So sorry your career was cut short! Hope to see your around town! (as the name indicates)

I've always been a USWNT fan, but became a true diehard during the 2019 World Cup and Sam and Lindsey were a big part of that. That team was powerful and unapologetically dominant both on and off the field. As someone who has closely followed the team, it was devastating watching Sam's injury become so drawn out. She was at her prime when she got injured and was poised to be consistently on the best player's list. She also was a major contributor in the equal pay efforts. Best wishes to you Sam, but gutted you had to retire. Amazing to get to see you on Snacks and get to know you on a different level. Looking forward to this new podcast. :)

SAM. I have to admit that it wasn't your incredible success as a soccer player that made me a Super Sam Fan, but it was SNACKS. I'm sorry to have 'missed' your total domination in the sport, but I am so glad to be here to see your passion and charisma shine in your conversations. You are so authentically invested in women's soccer, you make it easy to root for you- and all women. Thank you!

Hi Sam. As a former college basketball and field hockey player I laughed out loud at the goldfish story. It brought back the many silly things we did, like trying to eat lemons without making a face. or chewing multiple pieces of double bubble gum. It is something we still laugh about if and when we see each other. Please know those special memories will stay with you and friendship does survive even when you all go your separate ways. Good luck

this was amazing. love the insight provided by lindsey's answers and your questions, especially about the emotional/thought-based side so many of us fans are curious about but rarely get to hear (i.e. what's it like when your penalty is the one to end the tournament for your team, how player rivalries work, what players think about the olympics vs the world cup). and thank you for asking the question that prompted the lindsey vs emma in the champions league talk--it was VERY interesting and also hilarious to hear that emma was going around talking about winning it in that december camp. makes me happy to hear as a chelsea fan and also funny to hear given that's the exact opposite of what she's been saying in all her press conferences. oh, that's an idea--y'all should try to get emma on here!! you always asking the perfect questions plus emma always giving the perfect (or at least entertaining) answers/non-answers...it would be a masterpiece of a podcast. though, to be fair, that's exactly what this is! massive respect to you and appreciation for your work inside the game and around it. love love and love to you, this pod, and this project's future.

Thank you Sam for the program! This was a great interview!! Can't wait to see the next one as Mal Swanson is our Chicago hero! 😂 One suggestion. In your future episodes, it will be cool if you can insert some short video clips for the events you and your guests are talking to make your shows even more interesting to watch. For example, when you and Lindsey talking about the confrontation in the game and later their interaction in the press room, then Lindsey said they're on the same team now and still friends. An a few seconds video clip replay would bring the viewers back to what happened that day. 😂

Great second show, looking forward to more interesting content. Your first show gave me memories of walking away from the game many years ago. I really missed playing and the comradery with my fellow teammates. Yes, the first few years are hard, but you will always modify your life and still make the most of it.

So as an elder college athlete here's a bit of advice...you're still the "Tower of Power" should you choose. This is only bc you were that "Tower" on the pitch, you have the respect of your peers, AND you have an incredible heart full of empathy, humor & wisdom. This next challenge in your career is possible only bc of the career& legacy you built on the pitch. You will be tested. You will see stories that will be hard to bring to light o' former English major. Please don't stop being that Tower of Power...only you with all your soccer and that big heart can accept this next challenge and make women's football even better! Be YOU Sam Mewis & congrats on such an amazing playing career!

The biggest reason to go abroad for anyone in this sport would be to experience life and play in a country where they live and breathe the sport where here it's an afterthought. Secondly would be to force our players to develop the technical skills to complement their natural athleticism.

Lindsey can kick rocks. A lot of Americans watch soccer outside of American teams. For instance I’m a Liverpool fan and also fallow a lot of teams in Europe. Just because we don’t care about mls or nwsl doesn’t mean we don’t understand the game. Good luck next World Cup with a fan base that supported you now turning on you. It’s one thing for people outside the US to have this perception of us but one of our own is disheartening. Soccer is one of the biggest youth sports in this country.

Sam, we fans will miss you. Not only did we lose one of the best midfielders in the world when you retired, we lost a good person. Your presence has been missed very much by the team, and the results show it. Lindsey, I know you realize the huge responsibility you now have on your shoulders as a captain of this team, especially at a time of great challenge for the team. I'm one of the fans who was one of the first to follow and support the team since the Michelle Akers day, and therefore one of the fans who felt backstabbed by the team by Rapinoe and a whole bunch of kneelers. While you made a mistake describing the fans recently in an interview, kudos for making a real apology. I'm absolutely rooting for your success as I and so many others WANT you to help make the team represent all of the US instead of allowing politics to divide us. I want to come back as a passionate fan, but will keep watch first as to the team's actions, as I don't want to invest so much emotionally in the team again until I know my trust will not be misplaced again.
