Hello again... apologies for the gap in posting new videos: I’ve been occupied with a few commissions, so do forgive me.
Carrying on with the theme of fast, loose working, I set out to do this with the drawing in under 10 minutes,& watercolour added in another ten. I achieved it, but when I came to edit the videos, I couldn’t work out why the files were taking so long to process and transfer....this stage for instance was nearly 58 minutes long! Then I twigged- I’d only filmed it all in slow motion 🤦🏼‍♂️
So, this is actually take three( take 2 was completely out of proportion in terms of the drawing). Hope you get something from this...I’ll upload part two after the Easter weekend ( here in the UK.
I do mention these in the commentary, but in response to many requests, the materials used are:
Moleskin A5 watercolour sketchbook
Unipin fine liners: 0.1 &0.3 nibs
I’ll list the watercolours used in the description on part two.
Have a great weekend everyone.

I found it much more helpful to have the image right beside the sketch and very close in size. It really improved the value of the presentation by showing clearly angles and distances. Thank you for great running commentary. Chris

Thanks for sharing this John, Lotherton Hall is a family favourite and you've captured it well. Love to hear you talk your way through a drawing as it gives a valuable insight into how your brain works

Thank you...you're not the first: I'm working on a way to add out as on overlay in the top corner of each video...zooming out to include it means the work in progress is smaller. thanks John

Yes, I like seeing the reference photo: it helps me see that it isn't necessary to be a slave to details. Good luck with iPhone 12, I got mine last fall.

Good subject and for me it was useful to see the reference picture as you made the drawing. I found it helped understand the drawing technique as you progressed with it. Thank you. 😊

Fabulous drawing! It’s so helpful to see the reference photo as I was following every pen stroke. It only took you 10 minutes but for me it’s still several times longer, one day I’ll manage to get the hang of it.

You made my day John, thank you - i recently had four goes at a drawing before i was comfortable with the finished job. To watch an accomplished artist like yourself have 3-4 goes at a drawing gives me great confidence to continue on my next drawing later today. i really admire your work and keep trying to emulate it down here in Melbourne, although we do not have many dry stone walls, we do have some lovely old Australian barns that i hope to adopt your style. Thank you again John - keep the videos coming - they are terrific.

Mr. Harrison, I just started watching your videos today and I have now subscribed to your channel and follow you on IG. It is pure joy to watch your pen dance over the paper. Oh, to be so talented! I have a lot of catching up to do, both literally and figuratively LOL I am just beginning my journey with watercolour and am really drawn to your beautiful pen and wash art. I know I have a long way to go but I wanted to let you know how inspiring it is to watch you create. Happy Easter from Canada ❤️

Thank you, I found this most interesting. Time for me to loosen up and seeing your demonstration, it makes me want to take the plunge and go straight in with ink, normally playing it safe by pencil sketching first. Also will try a reference photo as opposed to an image on a screen. Looking forward to Part II
