Great review, I've used this for a year now and it has really helped me with Japanese. You've covered all the bases in this app in a really well edited video, it's quality! I looked back to your older videos like "What Time is it" skit and your Japanese Food series, you do a good job showcasing/creating a story. Also, congrats on nearing 1K subs!

I am glad to hear that LingoDeer has already been helping you learn Japanese. Thanks a ton for your comment and checking out the video. I really do appreciate it. I am glad you are also enjoying the older videos that where story focused. I had a LOT of fun making those and really hope to make more in the future time permitting. Next time in Japan my camera will definitely be with me so good chance! Thanks again, this channel has been quite an adventure so far :)

@@Jappon in my last binge with my friends. We had done the whole part 1. We're in the advanced portion. We took a hiatus because all of us had work. Especially me with my medical studies. I realized I needed japanese for some work ( Not really going abroad or looking for a job. Not everything has to be monetary eh? ) And then i stumbled on your video. It was really good timing because we had never used the app to this extent. You really did take your time! Loved your enthusiasm throughout the whole video. Thanks for making my day. If only you knew the extent of the help you really did.

I am very glad to know this had helped you so much. I really didn't know the potential of an app review until now. Thanks a lot for that! Thats impressive you had taken the whole first unit to completion. I am currently on the travel section in the first part and learning a TON. I definitely am taking my time with it as its hard to fully switch my brain over to the new language grammar. Yet each play gets easier, always feel better after a round. Throughout this process I have many new ideas for lessons to share which is also a good benefit. I hope the Japanese at work is getting easier, nice motivation for sure. Medical school from what I can imagine must be intensely busy, so good for you on keeping up with external studies while you can. Thanks again for the feedback and checking out the video. Best of luck! As always feel free to ask questions along the way and I will see how we can help.

@@Jappon oh nah. When I said japanese for work I meant it in a different way. Japanese is a language I have faith in as an encryption. When I would do my medical work. I'd write it in Hiragana and katakana. Not because that's the right way to do it, it was intentionally to hide it. In English people could read. Asian Countries are a bit different from Western ones. Especially my country, where a different mindset or a different approach to studies is enough to get you into trouble. And I mean MASSIVE trouble. When I take medical notes or share my experiences with friends, I need to make sure they're private. I'm using Japanese as a code language in a way. That's why I'm learning to speak it. Not to speak to people but to be confusing to people. ...unless a japanese person pops up. But hopefully he isn't a person who's gonna get me into trouble. A language is an amazing thing and has multiple uses. My use is a unique one but it's only because of circumstances. As you can see, that's why I thanked you as much as I could. I like having the freedom to write and speak without the drawbacks of my country. And I know no one will invest the time into figuring out what i'm doing, Japanese is an investment after all. So i'm safe :D Thank you again! And hope you have fun! P.S shifting a video game into japanese or phone software sometimes helps a lot. I'd put myself in that situation to see how much I can decode now. Life has become a lot better for studying now. Computers and software are amazing. Have a nice day :D

Maybe the mobile app is different from the web app? But here is my comment from elsewhere: I find Lingodeer just awful. I paid for it, as at first it seemed fine, but it has multiple issues: 1. The sound files sometimes cut out at the start of the sentence 2. For someone first learning, the phrases are said WAY too fast. And the option to slow it down sometimes makes it incomprehensible, because they just slow down the play speed instead of having another sound file recorded at that speed. 3. Virtually NO explanation in regards to grammar. You just have to try and figure it out yourself. 4. No customization to do more of the exercises you find effective. You are locked into the same ineffective exercises. They actually say to pronounced "ra ri ru re ro" as "la li lu le lo", instead of actually telling you how to pronounce the sound. Completely laughably bad. Just say away from Lingodeer, it may actually HURT your learning. In any case, it is a waste of time as you could be using that time to do more useful learning techniques.

@@Jappon Memory, I have come to the conclusion that the only way to get better at a language is to speak it every day, preferably with a native speaker. That way the words you learn are used, so you will never forget them. How many people can learn 5,000 words without speaking them?

Thanks for your insight. What app do you prefer? I have found no app to be perfect nor one learning resource in any format. However, I quite enjoy finding differences between apps, books, audio programs, as this lets me know that I have made progress and can tell the difference between methods. In any case, my opinion on this app is I love it and have learned a lot from it and still enjoy it. I also found the explanations to be far more detailed than other apps. But to each their own... Please let me know of an app you prefer as I would love to check it out!

@@Jappon I find apps only decent for learning characters and words. For that, Bunpo for learning Hiragana and Katakana is fine, and Kanji Tree and Obenkyo for Kanji. But even with these apps, I think they MUST be written out for effective learning. The act of writing out the shapes helps dedicate them to memory more efficiently, which is the same for all languages; it's just how the human brain works. I think full grammar is best done with the Genki I & II books and writing thing in an old Genkouyoushi workook. You probably know all this, of course. To be fair, I'm using the web app for Lingodeer. I checked out the mobile app, and it actually seems more complete. Not sure why their desktop version is so badly designed. Seems like a massive oversight. I do have to say, even the mobile version's speed choice is badly done; they just slow the syllables down, so at around 60% it gets distorted, same as on the web app. I may use the mobile version a bit, but honestly, I think I will stick to traditional methods, just nothing else compares.
@Jappon
@Jappon 3 жыл бұрын
Nothing beats traditional for sure. Thanks for the insights. Apps I have found to be beneficial for consistency. yet they don't force you to use or think as deeply as traditional. It does help me retain what I currently know and pickup little by little as I go. So still helping me out for sure. I'll checkout the other apps you suggested!
