I deleted Duolingo after a couple of days of using it 😂 I really love Lingo deer because of how structured it is and the grammar points.

I would say you learn grammar through Duolingo, as well, because you keep on repeating the same structures. They also added that light bulb feature which deals with grammar. I think Duolingo has changed a lot and more of their sentences make sense. It's true that there aren't explanations on Duolingo except in the forum, but it is free. Lingodeer does have a lifetime membership, but it has gone up. I prefer Memrise when it comes to vocabulary. I have no major complaints about Duolingo since it's free. I have learned a lot. I didn't like Duolingo for Korean. I like it for Spanish and French. I have used Lingodeer, and I liked it, but they were using a very formal form of Korean, which I rarely use in Korea. That turned me off a bit.

By using Lingodeer for just 3 minutes I learned that "ella no tiene sillas en su casa" means "SHE HAS NO CHAIRS IN HER HOUSE".

I remember when I was using Duolingo and seeing people get kicked out of learning groups just for missing a week, even if that person had a high level and was consistent for weeks on end and maybe they just got sick or went on vacation. It began to feel like a 2nd job for me and I wasn't going to get kicked outta there lol so I pretty much rage-quit the entire app lol.

Well the scenario is quite different now. Duolingo added a ton of lessons and tips in the Japanese course. So I use it along with Lingodeer and bunpo.

i used duolingo to start learning japanese. like i didn’t directly learn grammar from it and it’s was quite slow so it took me a while to get to the equivalent of half-JLPT N5 but it did help me construct my own sentences and get around 1000 words so at the same time i don’t regret it
