Dr Doom was the best part of this episode. Now we know what is behind the collapse of the speculator boom - it was DOOM, and his evil plan to lower the cost of comics!

I always enjoy the Quickies episodes, they're short and sweet and offer us a window to a different time. Also I wish comics were still sold on newsstands or in grocery stores. Would make the hobby more accessible and (hopefully) less expensive.

Ah ATW. The only show where the lazy catch up stuff is a treat. Like seriously I appreciate the long format, high effort analysis but just as fun is a stop into the snarky stuff. If there were several of these in a row I'd be totally ok with it.

I dutifully await the day linkara covers perhaps the ultimate comic book quickie- combo man! The promotional story of a kid who gains the powers of a dozen heroes and villains by eating pizza cracker snacks! Perhaps one of the most powerful heroes in the marvel universe, undone by a ridiculous costume. The most surprising part, it was written by mark frickin Grunewald!

I love the comic quickies almost as much as longbox of the damned. MoArte just makes me smile so widely.

For what it's worth, Linkara, we still love your stuff no matter when it comes out. Those of us that follow you on social media know you've been going through a LOT of shit in the background; getting married, having to move house multiple times, dealing with the unexpected adds up. Plus your video projects have been getting more ambitious on a more regular basis while you've also been gradually transitioning to a new tone for the series, and that's awesome. Basically what I'm saying is, while it's incredible that you were able to maintain the dedication to keep such a reliable schedule for so freaking long, longer than any of your ex-Channel Awesome coworkers, barely missing an episode and the only real change being moving from Mondays to Tuesdays, eventually all things change and we must change with them, and if that means you need to change your release schedule to "When It's Done, Dammit", we respect that. You look after you, buddy. We'll be here when the new episode is ready, so there's no rush. It's done when it's done. If it were done before it was done, it wouldn't be done, would it? And something being done before it is done simply couldn't be done. So it isn't done until it's done, and when it's done it will be done and we'll all have cake and dance. You want your cake, don't you? Then wait until it's done.

When my local comic book store went out of business in the late 90's I used Archie's subscription service to continue collecting Sonic the Hedgehog for close to 15 years, right up until the series' run concluded. It was a pretty good price too, I think it was close to half the cover price. Unfortunately as far as I'm aware IDW doesn't have a comparable subscription service, so I'd have to buy the issues individually AND pay shipping, thankfully as long as the Collector Cave (the only dedicated comic shop in my area) remains in business I have a place to buy them the regular way.

I'm a huge fan of the Batman and Dr. Doom bits from this show. This episode immediately just became one of my favorites.

"Nothing says Mr. T like sweetened corn and oats." Ah, but it was said that it's formula was based Cap'n Crunch, which the creator described as "vaguely want more-ish." This is a real quote, look it up. And I can't think of anything more vaguely want more-ish than Mr. T.

The Doom-Batman interaction had me laughing long after the video was over.

So what I’m getting from this is that Superman subscribes to Legion of Super-Heroes, Joker subscribes to Weird War Tales, and Doom is Master of the Savings.

I have to say that I think one of my favorite little details on this show is that whenever multiple characters are connected to one dialogue box you do the voice-of-the-Legion thing.

When "finger" came up and it was about Green Lantern, I just knew that cover from Emerald Twilight (GL vol. 3 #49) would come up. I don't recall ever having Mr. T cereal back in the day. I certainly wouldn't want to open a vintage box now... I mean, I'm no Ashens. Besides, I wouldn't even recommend touching cereal that's only a couple of years out of date, much less several decades.
