Tyson'sTrains I didn't pay for it because my brother is friends with one of the engineers on the 844, I'm not sure if you can buy tickets for a cab ride online but if so its well worth it!

Dear Eric As a teen with a long career in trucking ahead of me, I will follow in your footsteps into the wonderful world of o scale model railroading. P.s. I love the crew sounds they add a layer of realism and authenticity to these models that other scales don’t offer. Pls continue your passion with love and happiness. Sincerely, a loving subscriber and born truck and train fanboy. Roll on Eric!!!

Very nice Eric. A beautiful locomotive and model. It appears from looking at your rolling stock that you have been weathering a lot. Thank you again for your dedication to the hobby.

Thanks for the review Eric. The weathered reefers look great behind the engine. Back in 2013 I met the 844 at the College World Series in Omaha and got to go into the cab which of course was amazing!

Outstanding review. One of your best so far. BFIMO unexpected but cool. I would like the camera to follow the locomotive more and not so much a static camera
@bretthodgins70887 жыл бұрын
Eric- I enjoy your thorough reviews very much. That said, one minor suggestion for you to consider in future. JUST WHILE THE ENGINES ARE STATIONARY and you're reviewing the details with your green pointer, the addition of some supplementary light (eg. a working light on a tripod that painters use) to illuminate the front, sides and rear of the engines would enable the viewer to see the details better. Black die-cast steamers and diesels in dark colours such as Lionel's CN Ten Wheeler, UP FEF 4-8-4, NP Alco PA ABA are three that immediately come to mind where supplentary light would have been helpful. Just a thought.

LCCA did the same thing with Nickel Plate 765 that they did with UP 844 by relettering it to Lionel Lines and renumbering it to 726, the same number as their postwar Berkshire.

Eric, it looks and sounds as close to the real thing, from my memory of seeing this engine back around 2010! when it stopped for the day in the town, I am from, although it had the UP coloured tender on it by itself when it was here the time I saw it! As well as the drivers box was open in the back of the locomotive engine, and the smoke defecters had been a last minute add on, based on what the engineer who was operating it at the time stated to me at that time! Although, I do like the fact that the defecters on this model of the 844 are not wavey as they are on the real locomotive engine! However, all of that aside it is a cool prototypical model replica of the real locomotive engine! Even the whistle sounds extremely close to the real deal! And I thought that I uploaded some of the video of the 844 when it was here then, onto KZfaq, although, I have not been able to find it, in my uploads! It was still a great experience to see the 844 in person, and that they made a model scale version of it as well!
@aaronspringborn346 жыл бұрын
The whistle sounds similar to the real model and to your Vision Line Big Boy but the bell sounds like a diesel here. I am disappointed with the bell. The real 844 bell is one of the best.

@VirtualRailfanProductions8 жыл бұрын
You forgot to mention that 844 now has a sister in the SD70Ace No. 8444. It's funny that UP never forgot 844's old number of 8444 and gave it to a SD70Ace and she is almost always paired with the 844.

Hello Eric. I'm curious about the red light on the front of the 844. Does it come on automatically when you slow the engine down, or is there a button you press on the Legacy remote?
@allegheny488 жыл бұрын
An excellent review, Eric! I have the Sunset/3rd Rail FEF-3 in the Overland colors and it is one of my favorite engines. Unfortunately Railsounds 4 lacks the correct whistle. The red safety light on mine only flashes when the engine is run in reverse. Interesting that, when the real 844 got back out on the high iron for some shakedown runs, the red safety light was not yet installed. Eric, any chance of you acquiring an NYC Niagara in the near future?
