Wow... the alternating cylinder effect is really incredible, as are the radio chatter and whistle. I’m a guy the runs heavy smoke all the time so this is right up my alley. Thanks for the slow-roll close up to demonstrate all this.

That engine 🚂 is SMOKIN...lol I just found (been looking a year) the BNSF anniversary black one. Gonna ship Tues from Wisc. Watching your video, seeing how great the colors on that Daylight set are. I might try and hunt down a set.

Thanks for sharing this beauty with us. You're right about Eric doing an amazing job of pointing out every little nut and bolt and his reviews are great but I thoroughly enjoyed watching your shots with the train coming right towards me with the Mars light pulsing and steam everywhere! great job very fun video!

I am surprised it doesn't have a steaming whistle. What a beautiful locomotive though. Very impressive.

The GS-four model does not have the smoking whistle. They opted for dynamo steam instead. I believe this was due to how close the whistle is to the smokestack. You wouldn’t be able to see the smoking whistle as well.

I'm honestly curious about the pulling power of the model. Lionel has been putting out steamers that regularly exceed 5 pounds of power lately.

Can't get cylinder steam effect to work. I've tried everything! Pressed Aux3 so many times, my finger is sore! Air comes out, but no smoke. Stack and dynamo smoke don't last long either, have to keep adding fluid to get smoke. Don't want to overfill. Blown compressed air through all orifices, but not helping. Called Lionel, but no help either except to send it in and wait 4 to 6 weeks! Any ideas? Thanks.

Did you prime the smoke units when you unboxed them locomotive? Typically, I add 20 drops before I turn on the smoke. Then add 5-7 when I see a decrease in output. The cylinder effect takes some time to get started. Sometimes I send it around the layout then reset and it’ll kick on. Could be a fan unit issue? I’m not sure what the mechanics look like inside.

@@ChrissTrainsandThings Yes, I added smoke before running the first time. I have added smoke several times trying to get it to work, but not too much to overfill. I know it takes a bit of time to work, but it still doesn't work after several times around. I think there is a valve in the main stack smoke unit that diverts smoke to the cylinders...maybe it is malfunctioning. I just hate to have to send it in and wait so long for it to return, especially since I just got it last week! Leave it to me to get a bad one though! Thanks for the prompt reply.

How do you change the classification lights? I haven’t figured it out yet

The 4 and 7 key on the legacy remote should change them. I noticed mine only changed the tender lights. I could be missing a step though.

I figured it out. Hold down the aux 2 key and it’ll pull up the lighting buttons you can adjust front and tender lights from there

No - this model has the reciprocating cylinder steam and dynamo steam

If MTH goes out of Business then Lionel is going to OutPrice most of us from the Hobby. This is a very nice looking engine but it's way beyond my price means and what I'm willing to spend. My Local Train store has these for 1899.99.
