People are jerks. As a realtor it was almost impossible to list my friend’s homes or find homes for them. I even had one “close” friend use another unknown realtor to find her a rental. Why, I asked. “because you’d make money”. Was her answer. Of course Id make money, and NOT OFF HER! The landlord paid the fee. I would have had to work hard to find her an appropriate rental. But that selfish human decided id make money off our hard work for her. And THAT was her selfish, bitchiness coming out. Nothing was a repugnant to her as me being successful. She definitely showed her true awful nature as what she did. Same thing with my family. The idea of me getting paid for my hard work while they benefited was inconceivable to them. They only see me making money. Not that they’d benefit greatly. They’d cut their own throats before they would see me happy. So….never go to family or friends. Remember. Most people are true assholes.

💯 relatable. But what I found is, there's the "how" part to doing these things, and if it won't effectively apply to the individual(s), the outcome won't be as expected. If you just "genuinely" do favors and don't include some of the other psychological factors, most likely, you'd be taken advantage of, and so, I believe you must carefully consider and apply these tips.

All of this assumes your dealing with a normal, psychologically healthy person, - Narcastist and sociopaths' will just naturally expect entitled and its everyone's job to give them things and feel no sense of reciprocity, as an example. You should do a vid featuring dealing with abnormal psych. Actually, it might be best to just avoid them.

Ugh, tipping is such a problem. It shouldn't be expected, let alone counted on. It's become inverted: you were supposed to tip if the service was better than expected. Nowadays, people expect to be tipped always, no matter how bad they do their job
@doribonesbonner884811 ай бұрын
That’s because (in the USA) waitstaff are usually paid WAY under minimum wage & tips are EXPECTED to make up the difference
@gionder11 ай бұрын
@@doribonesbonner8848 that's shameful. Too bad people put up with that kinda BS. A livable wage shouldn't depend on tips. As a customer, you have nothing to do with the way an employer treats their employees, so the financial burden being taken up by customers makes no sense.
@meandnotyoudude567810 ай бұрын
@doribonesbonner8848 No. They get paid minimum wage and expect tips for a higher wage. It's a choice to work in customer service, not an obligation.

@giovannagiovanna33495 ай бұрын
You just contradicted yourself. You started by saying that people don’t like you no matter what you say or do. So how can you say don’t be kind to the wrong people if in your experience everyone doesn’t like you no matter what you say or do then you shouldn’t be kind to anyone other than yourself.🤔

Most of the psychological techniques are ancient, but valuable all the same. People don't change. I learned about them in college Psych courses in the 1960s and you can read about them in philosophical texts from the Roman Empire. People respond. They are mechanical in their responses. If these techniques are applied correctly they elicit the desired response - often against the will of the responding person. Ben Franklin borrowing a book for example. Est said it best: "You are a machine."
@Mr371312 Жыл бұрын
They even write books with those ancient principles, print it anew and make best seller self-help books.

I disagree that people can't change. People can choose to change. I am not a machine, but I did make a conscious decision to change my behavior.

Reciprocity worked for me when I was in sales. Every time I asked my prospect if they wanted a drink (and it was literally water that I got from the sink in a styrofoam cup,) got me the sale even though I was selling memberships to my club. It was weird. I don’t know if it is because they felt extra taken care of or what but it NEVER failed me. I get cash upfront too when I tell them I will take off the sales taxes for cash 🤣

I have a funny example of pluralistic ignorance 😁 A friend of my sister gathered 14 people and stood looking up at a tall building, where nothing was out of the ordinary. More people, strangers, joined in. After a while there where so many people looking up at the building that the first 15 could leave and leave a group of total strangers still looking up at the nothing 😄

As a Mormon missionary I was taught ‘the commitment pattern’. Basically a way of emotionally manipulating people into doing what we wanted. We were taught to always ask questions with “WILL YOU….” because people felt obligated to follow through (even if they didn’t really want to). Then of course you follow up within 24 hours to try to solidify their answer. “So (insert their name) we’re still on for your next lesson we talked about yesterday, right?”

@jamesdewane16423 ай бұрын
Gets mystical at that point, right? The best liars always believe what they're pushing, too. The only way to elicit willing cooperation is to willingly cooperate. Selfish overtures elicit selfish responses. Damn, you mean there's not a way to be a selfish prick with the whole world at my command? No. Live by the sword, die by the sword. With the measure you measure out, it shall be measured back to you, and more besides.

Exactly! One simple thing I like to do is (even if I have to stand there a couple seconds) is offer to take someone's cart or buggy back to the store. Ive actually had a couple (older than me people )get tears in their eyes at this simple gesture, ( I am going shopping and going to use a cart myself) . I usually at least get a thanks! I like to say, " pass it on! Hava great day!" I especially try to do this for people with children. Can't take your eyes off them for a second sometimes. Hope you have a great day!🕊

Lol the gift thing can go sour if you do it wrong. Whenever i hear 'gift' now, it reminds me of the time i was doing business with Chinese vendors and one in particular was notoriously sending 'gift' with the pallets. I would not think anything of it but the problem was this vendor was sending garbage product with the 'gift', we did not want the 'gift'. We just demanded that we got the items we ordered in good working condition. But this guy would throw in obviously broken and qc rejects in the pallet hoping no one would notice i guess. We complained and demanded refunds or credit for the bad items which they would argue with us on point saying to just forget about them that they are ok or give excuses. When we really had them by the balls, he would say "But we sent you gift". The _gift_ was usually some cheap item like a plastic little coincell led keychain or a tablet stylus which was just a piece of cheap stainless steel tube with a crappy rubber tip that would just rip off on a screen if you tried using it. 😂 i still remember that pathetic "but we sent you gift" line as a response for screwing us on items that were orders of magnitude more valuable than the 'gift'. 😂😂
