I've been to many places in China and love the land and the people. The ancient less traveled to places are the best. The people still practice simple living for thousands of years. Genuine loving people. I don't understand their language but feel as comfortable with them as I used to in my own grandmother's house 60 years ago. And now I'm a senior citizen. Born and raised in America but have always referred myself as a man without a country. Simply because I don't like the way America does things anymore. Me and many others my age have witnessed America went to Hell in a hand basket. And many places in China still hold the traditional ways of life. Many of the best things in the world are made in China. These people put America to shame. And I'm delighted they still exist!

I am impressed by your knowledge when you were expounding upon Hongcun and then I remember that you are a geographer. The rich man's house is replicated in the nineteenth century but with less grandeur in British Malaya and can be seen in the old settlement towns of Melaka, Penang and even in Kuala Lumpur. It is a privilege and a pleasure to watch your well crafted videography. By the way your father is so supportive of your social media calling. And true to your Chinese culture you refrain from asking your audience to like, subscribe and comment on your videos, so I shall do it for you (although I am Chinese). As a saying goes, looking through a lens can work in two ways: (i) you are showing us the world around you, and your "Chinaness" brings a deeper and fuller quality to everything you are presenting us, and then (ii) we can peek back a little into your soul, into the way you perceive the world, and we find a gentle, well-balanced, charming person. Very beautiful video. I really had no clue about the paper and how it is made from tree barks. So many people involved just to make one sheet of paper, that's so impressive. When I watch 仙侠(Chinese historical fantasy drama), they often have beautiful calligraphy shootings. I studied Japanese and my Japanese friends told me that they could tell a lot of things about the writer just by observing the calligraphy. It was like modern finger prints😁. Water is life, having clean water going through a village is such a blessing. In Italy, despite being such a small country, there are many dialects too, in fact people cannot understand each other if speaking a different dialect. However, as nowadays Italy is a very multicultural country (many people from Africa and Eastern Europe live there), dialects are only spoken in remote areas. My mother was born on Sardegna Island (famous for its crystal clear sea water) and my father was born in Calabria (South Italy), their dialects are totally different and they only speak Italian. My father was sent to Sardegna for his military service, he fell in love with my mum and they moved to Milano (Roma is the capital and Milano is the business capital of Italy. I cannot imagine how far people in China can travel to meet their family and friends. I also love Traditional Chinese Medicine so please show us some interesting stories about that. My last wish is to learn more about folk tales. For example in 仙侠, they often speak about animal spirits that can shapeshift into humans. Where do such legends come from? In Europe we also have many magical creatures, witches, etc. according to folklore but in real history, since the Christians took over Europe (they had an army), they declared the inquisition where countless women and men were tortured, killed and sometimes burnt at the stake just for living a non Christian lifestyle, knowing herbalism and magic healing. Italy, Spain and France according to history, were the places where most atrocities were committed. Before Christianity, the most spread belief was paganism. Interestingly, nowadays herbalism, traditional medicine and other holistic approaches are back, more popular than ever and backed up by science. Thankfully, religions no longer play the role of authority and most young people cannot accept their Conservative views.

Calligraphy and painting is one of the Treasure of Chinese culture. And looking at the ink, brush and paper making you get the full sense of the wealth of art within an art. And this richness, beauty and noble refinement lies deep in the heart and consciousness of the Chinese people past and present. So lovely, thank you.

Hi Ms Yan, I am a Malaysian and I worked in Xikou(near Xiuning) for almost a year. Yes , it is a very small town but I enjoyed it while I was there in 2014. It is a pity I could not stay there much longer than I wanted to. I visited Hong Cun and another old town nearby but I have forgotten the name. I am looking forward to visit China again.

Huangshan is simply awesome! We stayed overnite at the hotel. The buffet breakfast was really good. The hike down took us more than 6 hours. I was limping but I made it and it was like winning a race. We also visited Hongcun. It was just so-so for us. We prefer Huangshan and also Jiu Hua Shan.

Yup, good video n alot of hard work in editing. One point to point out, excellent drone filming, looking at the buildings structures, plus fengshui adaptation, those builders were classic architects, can beat the present day college trained architects.

I really appreciate the nuggets of information and the systematic presentation. It's like watching a leisurely documentary presented on a personable level. The facts of the round table being separated until the family is reunited was never known to us. We even have one of those tables that can be separated into two halves. Never knew it carries that meaning.

My wife, brother in law and a friend spent a couple days climbing Huangshan mountain, we spent one night in a hotel on the mountain. Amazingly beautiful even though it was raining/drizzling most of the time. Very difficult hike, my phone said I climbed 67 flights of stairs one day, my wife and I are 73 so we did struggle a bit. But it was totally worth it, as the views and the camaraderie of our fellow tourists was wonderful. That part of China is very lovely, and though there were many tourists, I did not feel like we were just someone to be fleeced by the locals, but that instead they welcomed us and were happy to share their part of the world with us. Thanks for your videos, I really enjoy them, and enjoyed watching your interactions with your dad. Be safe

Hi Yan,....I watched some of your videos randomly but now I am going through every one from the time you went to the organic farm in Switzerland. I follow almost all the Vloggers in China and all of them are very good but your videos are unique. Maybe because you are from China and speaks English and Mandarin, you have an advantage but besides that I can see that you also do a lot of research and you add them to your videos. I really enjoy them and I also like your easy relaxed and natural style and your ability to connect with the people. You come across like a professional by just being yourself . Your background music is also specially selected. My belief is that you will grow and grow .
