You can then sketch your picture using Da Vinci Eye's AR mode. Da Vinci Eye is a digital camera lucida app, meaning it is an augmented reality art projector app!
But does this help you learn to draw?
The goal of this mode is to train your eye on how to see different color values or shades of gray. With practice, you will learn how to identify light, mid-tone, and dark areas without the aid of the app. Simply put, this mode teaches you how to draw realistic portraits.
What is the difference between this and tracing?
Sketching and painting realistic pictures isn't about drawing lines… It is about interpreting the light that you see and transferring what you see to your canvas. If you look at any old master's painting or actual photos of people, you never see any hard lines. Instead, there are gradual or sudden transitions of one color to the next. Tracing teaches you how to draw lines, this mode teaches you how to shade your drawings, adding shadows to create an illusion of depth.
Artists will usually start drawing by breaking a picture down into steps or layers. Painters will often cross their eyes, or squint, to make what they are looking at blurry, blurring the image lets them simplify the colors into lighter or darker areas. Then they draw the lightest areas first layering on top of them the darker layers and adding in details towards the end. That is what this mode teaches you to do.

I noticed you frequently zooming in on the picture, doesn’t that alter the original image which you already drew?

It doesn’t, the overlay image and the camera view are locked in proportion. I say it “zooms” but in reality it’s just a magnification of the area on the screen

Tone Chaser totally! Check out our other video on this channel making big pictures with Da Vinci eye. The newer video is easier to follow. All you have to do is move the move glass / phone to where you want to draw. This is much easier than trying to balance the phone super high above the paper.

The application is great but why do you make updates only for iOS? I have been waiting for a new update for a long time but it still doesn't appear .... The last update was in May and a lot of time has passed since then.

Hi Listrat Alexandra thanks for the question. I totally understand the frustration. At the moment a new Android version is being worked on, although it is being worked on slowly because I am actually only one person and not a team of people. Earlier this year I dedicated a ton of time to remaking the iOS app from scratch. I started out with iOS because it is a lot easier to develop this kind of app on iOS and the iOS version is a lot more profitable. Since the relaunch of the iOS app I have been tweaking and perfecting it trying to get all the UI / UX bugs out of it before I put out the Android version. Luckily the iOS app has been doing very well, so well that I am going to be using the funds from the iOS app to hire a team to help rebuild Android app. I promise that the Android app is in the works, and when it comes out it is going to be amazing. Thank you so much for your patience!

Also just to clarify this mode is available on both iOS and android it is just called Step By Step on android. It is the same thing.

Lamento eso. Desafortunadamente, soy solo una persona, y no un equipo de personas que trabajan en esto, por lo que me lleva más tiempo. Estoy trabajando en la versión de Android. Realmente no hay mucha diferencia entre la funcionalidad de las herramientas de dibujo entre ios y android incluso con la actualización. Todo lo que se ve en este video se puede hacer en Android.

La otra cosa es que la versión de Android es mucho más difícil de construir porque hay miles de dispositivos diferentes con diferentes procesadores y hardware. Para iOS es mucho más fácil porque solo trabaja con algunos teléfonos. Este tipo de aplicación necesita muchos requisitos para que funcione, por lo que me llevará más tiempo hacerla buena para Android. Sin embargo, comprendo totalmente tu frustración y estoy trabajando en ello. Solo sepa que no hay una gran diferencia en la funcionalidad entre los dos, incluso con la actualización. como dije, todos los videos con la excepción de uno, se pueden hacer tanto con iOS como con Android.

Lo siento, como dije, soy solo un chico ...El modo AR es bueno pero, sinceramente, el modo clásico es mucho más útil. es por eso que todos los videos del canal usan el modo clásico en lugar del modo AR.
