I’ve got over 200kWh of diy using JK! Love them ❤!!!! Totally off-grid, 17MWH last year!

I attach with my high temperature tape mentioned above one temperature sensor to the negative ring terminal security with tie wrap. The other sensor I slide down between the cells where the four corners meet you’ll see an opening about midways in the pack or as far as you can reach. Stick it down in there about 1 to 2 inches. Use high temperature tape to hold it. Done with your temperature sensors. No extensions needed.

Those are 22ga BMS leads. I use a 2” width of this tape to cover bus bars and hardware, ensuring no wires touch bare bus bars. Then I use the 8” width over all wires and bus bars, overlapping to ensure something isn’t dropped onto bus bars creating a short. If one wire shorts the entire battery will usually burn catastrophically.

New JK BMS’s have CAN and RS485. The LCD and power switches are nice too. The switches have a red “power on” LED ring around the silver button.

All 16ea of my JK BMS’s have 2A or 2000 mA of balance current. I mount all of mine using two or all four 3mm screws attached to a 1/16” thick sheet metal angle or piece of sheetmetal with a 90 bend.

I snip off b17-24 at 1” and put a 1” piece of 1/4-5/16” heat shrink on them. Just in case you ever need them.

I bought a new jk bms. Supposed to be 200 amp capable but I'm not sure about the small wires. Haven't tried it yet tho so maybe it'll be fine. I got the 2 amp active balancer model and hopefully I can get it installed when I get home in a couple weeks

I mount JKVMS to my end of the battery. The blue negative battery lead to go directly to my terminals. The connectors stick up and I am facing the label. I have a 90° aluminum bracket that mounts to the top of my oak board, my board is flush with the top of my battery cells. I have a board on the back of the battery nothing on the signs. And I use a 1 inch ratchet strap to apply light compression before charging up. on the front of the board I’m out my DC breaker TAIXA brand and a T class fuse on the red wire.

If you purchase grade a cells 105, 280, 304aH from 18650 battery store in Atlanta, Georgia, you won’t have any problems with balancing.

I'm wiring the same BMS this weel What did you use for the lugs? It looks liek two 7awg cables should fit into a 4AWG lug. But I just got a 6awg lug to fit so I am thinking of just using two lugs per side. I am in shock that there is any sunny day that can kill your batteries. I'd think you'd have a few days' worth of battery and enough solar to charge that in one good day. Hybrid inverters are interesting but I find them a little scammy. The main brand over in Europe or at least Australia, Fronius, is a hybrid but you have to pay a few hundred dollars for a firmware update to enable the battery support. It seems like its a one time update but I am sure if the trend is like most things these days, the price will be the normal price and once you factor in the battery upgrade it will cost you more not less. It is clear that they dont need discrete firmwares to switch from grid tie to hybrid, but its a cash grab.
