Does this bring back memories. In the mid 70s, I was about 9 and used to have an older brother who was 19 and he used to let me hang out while he would listen to music on his 8-track player and talk with his buddies around his lowrider while smoking his weird little cigarettes. I would mind my own business usually playing marbles in the dirt. I just liked hanging out with them. I remember often hearing this song there and feeling so grown up being around them.

Another prime example of the magical creativity that was going on in the early seventies, coming out of the sixties and raising the bar even more:) Even though I was just a kid then, the music of that time would make me a life long music lover. Peace To All!

In light of current events, I feel this message more even though I've loved this song for more years than you've been alive. But running from problems doesn't work either. "Celebrate" life, then get back to work on making a better world.

Can't remember if it's the US Festival, or CalJam, but there is a great live version of this song that is twice as long as the studio version, lots of jamming. The Drummer is the lead singer on this song, unusual, and he is very good. This came out in the very early 1970's, we used to dance to it at my very progressive Junior High, where we had a modular schedule, every twenty minutes some classes changed, and you would have an "odd mod", no class, where you could go to the gym and they would be playing popular records for dancing. Good physical activity, and a great social atmosphere, during the school day. It was pretty cool. "I Just Want To Celebrate" was one of the MOST popular songs for them to play.

Love it! I used to play thi a lot as a teenager. When I got cancer at age 50, after 7 months of chemo, surgery, and a heart attack from the Chemo, I got clean PET scans and cancer free on the following Valentine's day (I now call it my ReBirthday!), I blasted this song for a week!

This was considered Motown Record's first highly successful rock band. I owned this album since it was new, but never got to see the band. The drummer/lead singer Peter Rivera still performs, I think.

It made it to number 7 on the Billboard Top 100. I was in high school when this song was released and it got a lot of airplay on the radio back then.
