Author Anthony Murphy of Mythical Ireland reads from Charles Squire's 1912 book 'Celtic Myth and Legend: Poetry and Romance' live on Facebook as a means of taking people's minds off the developing coronavirus situation. Interestingly, the myths about the earliest inhabitants of Ireland - the Partholonians and the Nemedians - say that they were both wiped out by a plague!

Wonderful reading on the great Irish myths. I love to read, but there is something special about being read to, as well. Thank you!

Anthony I’m so grateful for finding you. I went to Ireland in 2018 aug/sept for the first time I’ll be 54 in July. My grandparents are from there, everything you’re doing is what I love. After listening to you today on Facebook I can’t wait to go back. When I went it was that really dry summer you had and I remember reading about the field where they found the circle underneath. It’s funny I grew up bragging about how great it is to be Irish ☘️ and it got me thinking about not really knowing anything about my Heritage. Next time I know I’m going with mythical Ireland. I honestly feel like a little kid at Christmas time. God bless and please keep doing what you’re planning. I love this!!! Gotta go now, more treasures to see here lol

I just caught the end of your live today - how did I not know about these? This is fabulous. I’m going to catch up and watch all of these past episodes and your next live. I’m writing a fantasy novel based on the Tuatha de Dannan and I first found your channel last year. I’m Irish American with lots of family still living in Ireland. I love hearing stories from my family and doing research - we still have my grandfather’s family home and land in the family and I love having these ties to the ancient legends and my people. Thank you!

Dana from San Diego. Fascinating! I especially love the deep, deep history. Thank you for taking the time out to read to us. It's very soothing. I've found that if I'm stressed out, I can pull up a video of you reading mythology or telling stories while driving, and it calms my heart. I'm looking forward to catching up with the videos from this week. Best of health to you, your wife and your family. Míle Buíochas!

I was supposed to fly to Ireland next week.. and I'm afraid I won't be able to now. I was soo looking forward to going. Still keeping positive though! So far I can leave the country but I'm not sure if I can Enter Ireland as I heard they are going to go into lock down and close the borders from people leaving or entering. in any case.. I'm glad to have you change the subject.. I'm already fed up hearing about this virus..

I too love to hear these stories, but I think I'll see to it finding the books and read them at leisure. The breaks in between, responding to listeners who make themselves known, is annoying. Why not separate stick to one activity? You're joining 2 very different worlds by jumping back and forth, through time and through the screen. This isn't for me.

Thank you so much Dean!! I really appreciate how you voiced/share your honest impressions/feelings. I, as you apparently do, love the topic. I am burdened with having to cope with slow processing speed due to Post Concussion Syndrome as a result of a distracted driver, who was driving with suspended drivers license, carelessly “rear ending my vehicle” at high speed approx. five years ago while he was looking at his phone. My recovery is steady but, of course, not as swift as I would prefer. When listening, to this podcast, I absolutely desire a simple visual diagram/ visual organizer of the content so as to assist me in learning what is being shared/taught to us all. Know that this (long winded text) is appreciating you! I am not implying anything at all especially not that you have the same experience nor background as myself. I am just doing as best as I can to connect with you and thank you for saying what I wish I had courage to ask for - assistance for what I need to be part of the group ( a basic/common learning aid) and to ask in such a way, like you have, which is a courageous, and “matter of fact” kind and plainly stated way. Thank you for your example. You have schooled me positively and kindly in a simple way to ask for my needs to be met. I will endeavor to ask for my needs to be me from now on. I become sad when my frustration of having my new “learning style” drives me to in essence “walk away” from what I truly am passionate about. I will take a good hint from you and just simply ask for what I need and hope that I can receive it. Receiving such a learning aid may indeed help me and others contribute positively to the dialogues about topics that we are passionate about. Blessings, love and peace to all.
