You'd be hard pressed in a LOT of jurisdictions to put someone in jail for an ounce of weed. It'll just get thrown out.

MattHeaven I'm thrilled to hear that we aren't throwing everyone in jail for a bit of weed! But assisting someone avoid arrest is very labor intensive and costs us taxpayers a great deal of money; much better spent assisting people avoid criminality and accessing necessary services like treatment or counseling for family issues to include domestic violence and child neglect or care challenges.

Kendall Morales Trust me, it only takes a couple minutes during a shift to go check to see if a confirmed wanted person is at a certain location. This guy had 4 criminal warrants. It’s not like he got caught with some weed and they repeatedly visited to see if he was there. The man arrested is not someone you want out on the streets. The officers were diligent and took another wanted person off the streets. I’ll give credit where credit is due. They were proactive instead of being lazy.

I’ve got 4 and their the nastiest little dogs to strangers and most people that aren’t their mom or dad (owners) but those dogs didn’t seem aggressive. My dogs are fighting crazily to get through the door barking. Those dogs were chill.

Beau Thomas Art Those type of dogs can be very aggressive, even though they are small. I currently own a pure breed, and he’s bitten multiple people and has broken skin before. They definitely go for the ankles but not really anywhere else.

So take her to jail too. Aiding and abetting a wanted fugitive is a crime that shouldn’t keep going unpunished. Failure to prosecute that crime is malfeasance.

You are so right in principle. Except cops have probably heard a thousand harboring girlfriends successfully claim they'd had no idea their guy was wanted. The more provable charge might be what we saw on the video. She said more than once that he was NOT there, that she had kicked him out and that he was at his aunt's, etc. She said she was sure, and she delayed police entry with the horse pucky about the aggressive dogs so he could get away. That's not deniable, like harboring, it's on film. All of those lies are obstruction end interfering etc. However she could still always claim that her criminal boyfriend had threatened her not to talk and that she had been in fear for her life and that was why she lied. It would be hard to prove that was not true. Which kind of makes it a waste of time to arrest her. Probably the life she is living is punishment enough.

Why didn't they charge the girlfriend with aiding and abetting a felon? Usually they will do that if she is impeding the investigation. She obviously lied to the police more than once.
