He said multiple times that the signal was so bad there and it had a hard time connecting, but we're just supposed to believe that it's still super accurate to the fact he never went in to the house. He might not have, but they can't testify to it being both ways. It's either reliable or it's not. You can't just say it's not very reliable in one area because of connectivity issues but that it also indicated decidedly that at that time he was stuck and never moved to a new gps point again.

If he vomited laying down it would be on top of shirt and floor. Not only lack of blood but also lack of vomit by head. One time, a few years ago, a friend of mine got himself into some legal trouble and a few hours before he did whatever he did, I happened to be hanging out with him. Detectives showed up at my house without body cameras, without a recorder and without reading me my Miranda rights, and accused me of being a party to what my friend did. I told them I don't talk to police without a lawyer and immediately googled lawyers when they left. I absolutely had nothing to do with what my friend did, but these cops were acting like because I wanted a lawyer that I must have something to hide. One of them actually said to me, "the right to a lawyer thing is only applicable in court, we're just trying to have a conversation with you." It was absolutely appalling and baffling that these detectives could be THAT ignorant or absolutely dirty. I still think about that BS often. KR googling a lawyer makes her smart, not guilty. That really makes me mad that the CW would try to pull that. It'd be the same as them saying in their closing statement "Karen Read exercised her right to remain silent and didn't take the stand, therefore she MUST have something to hide!" Ugh, disgusting.
@zinakelsch7572

i don't know what the circumstances are in your case but when interviewing you don't have to read someone their Miranda Rights it only triggers when the person is in custody so many times interviews that occur outside of police custody or not in the station house it is considered a conversation/ interview you CAN read people their rights but you don't have to. just speaking from my personal experience I've worked as a police officer and detective for 28 years.
@zinakelsch7572

And our department doesn't have body cameras I also will take notes but we don't record interviews either a lot of what people believe should occur is what they see on tv and that's not realistic If you are in custody and I am questioning you. Then we sit in an interview room and we record it and you have your Miranda rights read to you.

I can’t get over the fact that Karen called John 50 times between 12:40 am and-6:30 am. That’s psychotic and she was really ticked off at John. What was very concerning to me is when Karen said that she is home with the kids and said John you’re a pervert. It bothers me that she used the word pervert. Does she know something that we don’t know like was John a pedophile to his kids that he adopted from his brother and sister-in-law And pedophiles are really look down upon in society. A lot of people have hate towards pedophiles and can be aggressive to them and some people will beat up pedophiles so I’m wondering if maybe that had something to do with it.
@silikon2

@@emorelandIt raises my curiosity that she said pervert. To me it kind of suggests she got new information somehow after she dropped him off. But there's absolutely no evidence what she said had anything to do with the kids. Plus, your "beat up the pedophile" theory requires the people at 34 Fairview and Read be on the same page. I mean, I kind of think if that's what Karen meant, she would tell her lawyers, yes? And there's nothing in their questioning that even hints at that. Plus... it was one of the Albert kids birthday party.

Her voicemails were from a woman fed up with the contradictions. John is mad about the way she spoils the kids yet he uses her as a babysitter so he can go do whatever. It sounds to me like they have repeatedly argued about her being with the kids but here she is one more time - with the kids. She tells him the kids are alone in an attempt to get him to come home and watch the children himself. He's not answering. KR reads the situation as JO is hooking up with someone while she is watching the kids and that he says he doesn't want her doing. She is also trying to get him to respond because he didn't have transportation. She dropped him off. She is anticipating having to go and pick him up. She thinks that he is consciously ignoring her. There must be a history of this. I have empathy for KR. How many of us would want our angry voicemails played in court?

I think the most important part of hearing those voicemails (for me), was how genuine they sound. Unless she's the best actress alive, she doesnt sound like she knows she will never get a hold of him on the phone. She sounds genuinely pissed, she sounds like she really wants to know where John is, who hes with and what he is doing. I dont believe these calls/voicemails were meant to be some kind of alibi for herself. If she killed John and was leaving these voicemails knowing that law enforcement would hear them... she wouldn't have wanted to sound so angry (a motive for the police to suspect her). What if it wasn't our argument, what if it was an emergency with the kids? The fuck you think you can just ignore my calls. For all of this to be some elaborate alibi set-up, the calls, the texts, the panic in the morning after, it seems too far fetched for me. Possible, but not super probably imo. The texts and voicemails don’t change my mind about her innocence. I had a boyfriend who used me, dragged me along, gaslit, cheated on and lied to me. I thought I loved him and he drove me INSANE. Absolutely INSANE. My messages were worse than hers- even on a similar drunken weekend. He didn’t die but it dissolved the last remnants of my love and interest in him. I think they’d have broken up by Monday if he’d not been beaten or had an accident and left in the snow.

I was an attorney for 43 years. Cases like Karen Read make me think it may be time to consider an alternative to the adversary system in criminal cases. It is quite clear that, all too often, prosecutors and defense counsel employ a win at all costs mentality which results in innocent people being unjustly convicted and guilty people walking free. It is also clear to me that the criminal justice system is damaged if not broken.

KR was trying to convince him to come home cause he's got the kids. She's single, no kids and independent, she owed no one anything, and she could've been out all night if she wanted to. She was the responsible one that night, plus avoiding Higgins advances and that after party. I totally believe he was kissing that woman in Aruba. I didn’t like her demeanor when she was on the stand testifying. She tried to make it seem like John was like an older brother and it was just a hug and quick kiss hello. Seems like a lot of women were attracted to him. When she heard Karen screaming at John ( after a day of him sitting at the bar drinking all day watching the game and not doing anything with the kids and herself) she was already around the corner and came back to introduce herself to Karen. I could never stand women like her. Karen got gaslighted again, not trusting her own eyes and because she desperately wanted it to work with John ( a man in his mid forties that had never been married and probably would have never married imho) Karen apologized and offered to pay for that woman’s room) But in her heart and head she knew what she saw and that’s where calling him a pervert came from. I had a very good looking boyfriend years ago, that I ended after about 5 months or so. If I had been in love with him I would have lost my mind because of the women in our little group that threw themselves at him and how he ate up the attention. Poor Karen and no justice for John.

Also, instead of Karen googling how long it takes someone to die in the cold, on her own phone, she had Jen google it on JENS' phone. Makes Jen look suspicious. If I knew the cops would be asking to look at my phone, you bet your ass I would be deleting things! Messages to people you should not be messaging, sites you don't want people to know you visit. @ESPHMacD
@ESPHMacD 6 күн бұрын
Edit to add: If they wanted consciousness of guilt for killing him, wouldn't she search for a Criminal Defense attorney not a DUI attorney? Best I can guess is she thought that people would question her being drunk while dropping him off and wanted to protect herself from a DUI, not from murder charges. EVERYONE should have a lawyer, ESPECIALLY innocent people. Police will "protect" the law, Lawyers will protect your rights. Protect Yourself. One big question that never comes up also is how was John planning on getting home after being at the Albert's? Was he going to call Karen for a ride, hitch one with someone else? No way he was gonna walk it back in that weather..... And those messages have nothing to do with consciousness of guilt, in fact they kind of moved the needle towards not guilty for me. She sounded like a woman who's boyfriend was ghosting her while she was looking after his kids. I'd be pissed too. If they have been having that argument about her spoiling the kids and him using her for babysitting and stuff, then he goes to a party alone and doesn't answer any of my calls/texts I'd be upset to all hell. She said stuff like "I'm sick of you using me... You're out sleeping with another woman while I'm here with your kids" [paraphrased obv], combine that with her thinking he is ignoring her on purpose and her sleeping on the couch waiting for him to arrive home instead of the bed which I assume they have shared before..... Their relationship might not have lasted much longer than the weekend, but none of that points me to she killed him and was trying to cover her tracks. Even if it was an accident with the car (which imho has NOT been proved yet, but the CW case isn't done so we'll see), I can't see how they get 2nd degree intentional out of all that.

A large conspiracy is NOT required for this to be a frame up. It only requires the people in the house to close ranks and stfu and a deliberately botched "investigation" by Proctor. After that, all it requires is any cop that might think something fishy is going on to turn a blind eye. This is mostly a large cop family and cops aren't terribly likely to snitch on other cops. Actually, pretty mild if you ask me 😅. Worst things she said was that she hated him (which clearly was said in the heat of the moment, if she actually hated him she wouldn't be so upset). She called him a pervert & a loser. All while drunk & imagining the worst. "Pervert!" Lol. She's been through hell since that night. I'd be so mortified. Possibly even suicidal, tbh. She's a tough 🍪

12:36 am she connects to home wifi, only way that happens IS IF YOUR HOME OR WITH in a few feet of your home. The 2nd VM @ 12:45am where all you hear is “walking” you can hear her shoes walking in hard wood floor! She’s not in her car. This 100% shows she’s home (@ John’s house). Prosecutors case was destroyed by those 2 voicemails! No way this hurry can find her guilty. Even if she is not found not guilty, they have to at least be a hung jury.

If you believe those are dog bites on John's arm, and I do, then John had to encounter Chloe either in the backyard or in the house. I've considered that exact same thing about whether John could have been bending down to tie his shoe and somehow been hit in the front of the head by the car and then fallen on the back of his head, managing to crawl into the yard. If that were the case, he would have had to already have his arm chewed up by Chloe before that happened, no? So how would that work? Get attacked by dog in the house or back yard and then casually stroll out to the property line in front of the house, bend down to tie a shoe and get hit in the head by a car that is traveling in reverse for the sole purpose of hitting him? Karen would have to be 80 feet in front of the flagpole, notice him bending down, and then somehow gun it in reverse 80 feet to hit him without him noticing and getting out of the way. Makes no sense to me. I think John died almost right away in that back yard. I think it was one hell of a head injury from a fall on cement and he bled into his brain quickly. A lot of chronic alcoholics die from falling backward on their head. In John's case, I think the dog attack made him lose his footing. He got up briefly before the brain bleed progressed, but then fell again, this time forward on his head and hand. I don't think it's an accident that they destroyed the circuit board in the GPS in Karen's car. I suspect they didn't like what they found there.

Sadly that’s too simple and the fact that most of his blood-loss was NOT out there in the snow or frozen into the surface frozen already dirt. How would it even soak down far since the ground is frozen for sure? It couldn’t, His blood loss was in that basement that they destroyed. No one ever digs out a basement like that…That shows consciousness of guilt.

Listening to it again, they didn't actually lie they were much sneakier with their language. They said the search happened "before she voluntarily gave an interview with law enforcement." She's entitled to a lawyer before giving any statement to the police. What absolute shady shit. Despicable.

The voice-mails were clear that she thought John was out with a girl. My theory was when Jen, on speaker, told Jon, "You know where the Albert's live...its right near Maddis house." It was a dig to Karen to intentionally get her upset because he dated Maddis' mom. I think Karen had that on her mind that night and thought he probably was over his exs house.

If the prosecution thought these voicemails would help their case, I'm afraid they probably did the opposite. The jury consists of 10 women (or mostly women), probably most, if not all, have left these types of desperate and hurtful voicemails at some point in our lives. I think the jury will empathize with Karen about that. It absolutely proves she had NO IDEA what happened to him!!

Peter, someone knows where the dog Chloe is, unless they left her in the desert and drove away... You practically have to give an organ to adopt a pet now. Why can't the basement of the Fairview house be inspected, torn apart looking for dna, if it may have been the scene of a crime, regardless of who owns it now? Why haven't we heard testimony by the coroner or the ME, wouldn't this clear it all up? Is "pervert" a Boston term for liar, player, cheater, a-hole, effer or any other name you would call a boyfriend in the heat of passion if you thought they were seeing someone else behind your back..... such a strange word choice. Everyone travels to the funeral of a fallen cop in NY, non of them personally know, but don"t bother to show up to John's service, their so called friend... So many questions...

Thank you for tackling and articulating so clearly the issue of why it is so inappropriate for prosecution attempting to equate seeking legal counsel with conscience of guilt. A retired appellate attorney here who enjoys and admires your case analysis. I am saddened at how this case, (and others) reveal how little people understand, and consequently respect, our legal justice system. People! Our flawed, battered, system is the envy of the world. The prosecution and defense have entirely different roles and ethical obligations: the prosecution is ethically bound to seek the truth of the matter and to find justice. The prosecution’s role is not to win a case! Period. If you are analyzing a case this way, your premise is wrong, sets too low a behavioral bar for the prosecutor and is contrary to our system. A prosecutor’s role is to successfully prosecute a person guilty of a crime in a manner above reproach regarding justice; I have been appalled at moments during this trial at the prosecution’s lack of candor to jury, breach of evidentiary rules and conduct. Shame all around.
