Available Now: mercury-studios.lnk.to/YesApollo
In 2016, Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin and Rick Wakeman brought together their incredible talents and long experience of working in Yes to take to the road for a series of concerts celebrating Yes’ musical legacy of the seventies, eighties and nineties. Yes featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin and Rick Wakeman toured first in North America and then brought their live show to the UK in early 2017, including this performance captured at the Manchester Apollo. The band are in superb form in front of a sell-out crowd who are clearly loving every minute of the show which includes classic tracks such as Roundabout, Owner Of A Lonely Heart, And You And I, Hold On, Heart Of The Sunrise, Rhythm Of Love, I’ve Seen All Good People and many more.

Met Rick Wakeman once outside an Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman and Howe show. He was a super nice guy, stopped for autographs and spoke with his fans with genuine enthusiasm and gratitude. Vocals sound awesome! How much want to bet he's not a smoker? So sad when great vocalists lose their range. See Geddy Lee. Chris Cornell lost a lot of clarity toward the end as well. Smoking is so bad on the vocal cords. I'm sure there are many others. I watched the video when The Cure got inducted into rock n roll HOF and OMG Robert Smith's vocals sound as great as ever. Perfect. Amazing.

Yes all the the songs and tunes shown live here, are all from an age when not only could the bands read music, understood its measure and construction, and the fact that they can transpose, not just from key-to-key but instrument as well. Nor multiple dubbing and sampling we see today. I know that my parents (c. 1930) bemoaned our age profile b. 1950 onward and compared to the music of their time, but as Roy Wood embarrassed my father in a discussion over the Parkinson Show (1970s) and Wood did a line by line transposition of a Bach Fugue (not the expected Toccatta and fugue of Roller Ball fame) but another and how that could be borrowed and transcribed in to another song. Also rationalise and compare the thinking behind Beethoven-v-Mozart and how the latter was very advanced comparing him again with Bach. Much to my father's surprise could right music to the Stave. Just because in my father's initial sighting he was " long haired lay-about"; it took this interview to make my father realise that those writing and playing songs not just the 1960s but through to the early 1990s, could indeed play their instrument of choice but in various forms not just classical but jazz and "pop" of the day. Note how the likes of McCartney, Lennon as the make up of The Beatles the "fab-four" could all read music from the Stave; even the likes of the groups "Bad Company"; Abba ELO (who were indeed all members of a full orchestra at one stage, before they became The Move, later ELO). Although people made an issue out of The Stones, all could play their instrument, not withstanding their drug issue, but in the literal sense nor did the Beatles come to the table with clean hands ! The likes of Pink Floyd, could all read music from the stave and playing live, really meant playing live. Take away the micro-chip or the Sequencer-preprogrammed keyboard and the modern "band" are lost. More so since the advent of the chip and being able to replicate. Even Kraftwerk in the "new -music era" and keyboards, actually made a joke out of themselves by playing autobahn live, and then setting up the syhtheisers so that each band member, one by one could leave the stage and the tunes continue to play all by themselves by leaving them on continuous loop, until the stage was empty and people realised that they could be preprogrammed and actually no one need know how to play them, of course that was followed by sampling in the 1990s onward. Really from then on things went down hill and most modern pop music can't be written on a stave and take away the computer and they are lost. May be this time, we really have come to the end of the genuine music composer?

Thank you for this long comment. I often compare music to gastronomy, people like to eat but they go to McDonald's, people like music but only listen to prefabricated music because it's easy and today there is no has more than money and profit that count. That being said, there are always great cooks and great musicians and fortunately. Today it is just more difficult to find them, to discover them. You have to be even more curious than before. Thank you for mentioning ELO, I love them in my French region, just as I love Cheap Trick or other treasures.@@christopherrichards18
