Until the PGMOL stop their members taking lucrative moonlighting gigs in a league partly financed by the same people who own Man City, people are always - rightly - going to question why they ultimately keep coming out on the right side of these calls. It was a penalty. It should have been. But beyond that, Liverpool were marvellous. Can you imagine what would have happened if Liverpool had a full squad to choose from and were playing a City team without Ederson Walker Stones Akanji Kovacevic Silva Alvarez Foden Nunes and had Haaland fit enough only for the bench? Absolute carnage. Pep sending on another defensive midfielder instead of de Bruyne showed where his head was..hope we get them in the FA Cup final now.

It’s a weird one that I don’t completely agree that we smack them with our full team. There’s sometimes something intangible about how we perform when our backs are against it. With everyone fit in these big games I feel like in recent times we’ve been far too tentative. That was arguably our best performance of the season and it was down to the players available on the pitch raising their level for the lad beside them.

There's a lot to be said for the younger players in the team being more fearless against City. Bradley for example, I watched him specifically for the first 30 minutes and you could see he just had zero respect for them. Smashing into tackles, having a go at rodri, pushing Ake then shoving Pep out the way, getting right in their faces and scrapping for everything. His aggression was amazing to see. Now I don't think you'd get that if trent was playing. Similarly, I don't think Salah would do as much running as Elliott did. You need that relentless hunger in a team to match City. So I agree to a large extent. The only difference I would say, is that having a couple of the starting 11 fully fit would possibly have given us that cutting edge that we lacked. If Jota had any of those chances today he scores. Our front 3 had very little goalscoring threat when you look at the numbers. Nunez has picked up scoring wise, but Elliott and Diaz don't score much. I really think though, that if we had Trent and Jota on in that 2nd half, 1 of them would have scored.

Just thinking that every time Diaz goes through on goal. I love Luis for his passion, effort & determination but I'm beginning to think he's a back-up.rather than starter...he's certainly no Sadio!

We were the better team. Diaz has to take those chances. Simple as that. That said… disgraceful decision not to award a penalty for a literal studs up to the chest.

A Diaz brace would have been perfect compliment for that fantastic second half performance, gutted we missed those chances and Darwin needs to control his runs better getting caught offside far too much,that said magnificent team performance from a depleted Liverpool team against the best team in the world our midfield was awesome Endo and Maca were phenomenal,they was rattled, so proud of the team, 10 more cup finals let’s see where that takes us?

No idea how they survived that second half!! We absolutely embarrassed them! That was their very best starting 11 and we had 5 potential starters out had 2 kids in defence a second choice keeper and half fit players coming back. Regardless of any outcome I was fuckin proud of that display un fuckin real

With the Doku incident being so late, why did Oliver not take another look at the screen?! Why can’t VAR look at second yellows as well? Would be so easy and quick to do. Rodri grabs Diaz and Diaz should go down really. Had chances to finish that game long before the penalty incident. It’s in our hands, it’s only on us to win this league. Hopefully gives teams a blueprint to play City. They look uncomfortable when pegged back and they definitely don’t want a fight. Kev the Red going off looking purple shows everything you need to know about the intensity we had. Came back from a goal down, should have won and rattled City. Let’s take it and move forward. Every outcome for the Arsenal City game swings in our favour for the run-in. Up the reds.

Great performance and whilst we feel robbed of a last minute penalty, there is so much to be proud of. Fantastic post match pint again. Every time Ben Jonno is on I know I am guaranteed a good giggle too.

When Ederson went off injured for that Ortega i thought we had the 3 points in the bag. We could have had 4 or 5 goals if Diaz had his shooting boots on today. Got to do better there. Aside from our end product being way off, i thought the performance from us was tremendous. We had them shook and they couldn’t cope with the pressure we put on them in that second half. How that’s not a pen I’ll never understand. When you look at the replay Mac Allister actually got there first, before he got studded in the chest. Absolute Madness. Corruption at its finest. The good old PGMOL are doing everything in their power to stop us winning this title aren’t they. They are not going to stop this team. We are winning this league.

By the way, Rodri should have gotten a second yellow for his rugby tackle on Diaz near the end and Bernardo Silva should have gotten the booking for going in about 7 seconds after the ball went on Mas Allister so two potential reds missed as well and im not sure they would have been that soft.

We missed some guilt edge chances and should have won it outright. But the reason we didn't win isn't because a penalty wasn't given. We didn't take our chances. If Arsenal and City draw the next game and we win it's as we were and back in our hands.

Interesting how "playing the ball" apparently means a high boot & subsequent crippling kung-fu kick to the chest is fine. On that basis you can go in for a two footed leg breaker but as long as you play the ball first it's ok...utterly moronic. Playing the ball first doesn't negate a foul & that's clearly stated in the rules. Yet more incompetence every week for every team. Pathetic & guttless. Wait for the piss poor apology. We've now been stitched up against Spurs, Arsenal & City.

Yeah totally agree Liverpool should have had a penalty at end of game. Since when is kicking a player in the chest not a foul. Even the pundits on tv like Carragher and Keane were saying it's not a penalty as there wasn't enough force. That is bs! It doesn't matter how much force. A kick in the chest is always a foul end of. I get turned off football more and more with these disgraceful refereeing decisions. This could cost Liverpool the league. It makes a mockery of the game as so many results are compromised by poor officiating that the table is meaningless. Football is no longer a sport but is like WWE as the refs just make the rules up as they feel like.

I felt that Liverpool turned up it's hard to come to Anfield and play us. Yes city r quality course however we missed opportunities made but what a game we lived up to the expectations. I still believe Liverpool can do this win the league go on lads win it

John and Neil.... I really think you need to get together with Paul Tomkins and work up a piece on Big Decisions and Penalties that Liverpool are not getting. He has done a lot of work and I think you could make a good off season show out of the material... just a thought. And yeah Doku on Macca is a clear foul and hence a penalty. Oliver bottled that and it has nothing to do with trips to ref in the Gulf...

More than the penalty, it is the rodri second yellow card for the pull back on Diaz without playing the ball is a 100% certain decision and still not given. Just because Diaz does not go down, Rodri gets away with it.

100% stonewall penalty and why is their goal not disallowed for the blocking on our front post. Blocking is not allowed when it is our players and us scoring a goal! Referees have cost us to many league titles and they are determined to stop us this season, it is getting too difficult to explain their decisions away now!!

All the Salah hype but what did he actually do whilst on the pitch? One good pass for Diaz but overall poor and embarrassing going down far too easily. Big players make a difference in big games. Diaz was so frustrating with poor end product. Still proud of the team for that second half performance but gutted not to win which was thoroughly deserved. Once again, the Ref and VAR work against us. Didn't Mane get sent off against City for a similar tackle?

@@howardwhitehead3454 LMAO. The one against City away 2 yrs ago was similar to today which Mane buried from Salah's pass. Luis Diaz ain't even reached 50% of Sadio Mane's levels. A half fit Mane would score that chance today.

@@tonymontanatv_ Let’s see what Diaz’ numbers are by the end of the season. I think he is on track to get 15 and 10, which is not far off Mane’s output. Of course we’d sooner have peak Mane. But we can’t. Diaz is doing fine.
