The goal is salvation. God says He helps you overcome sin and rule over him. Repentance is a MUST if you sin (as a Christian), you’re in a relationship with God AND He teaches you HOW TO WIN by grace through faith. IF you sin, confess your sin and God is faithful and just to forgive your sin. 2 Corinthians 7: 10, “ For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world works death.” AND 1 John 2 is written to Christian’s about how to live and what to do IN CHRIST. Repentance is necessary, without it you’re not doing your part in the relationship. You’re in a relationship with God by faith in Christ. You can ONLY be in that relationship, because Jesus Christ was righteous and He paid your debt for sin (death) and He rose again ALIVE from the dead to make you righteous. Faith believes I am made righteous by the works He did. Then we live by faith…trusting that God’s got our back and we’re saved by His grace and mercy. Have faith in God. He will do what He says He will AND you follow Him (do what He teaches): love God and love other people HIS way. Faith has works, but it doesn’t work TO BE SAVED. Faith involves a fight, but it’s a fight of your spirit (will) against your body (desires of the flesh, physical) (Romans 7:21-25). God says in His word that He will help you (out of His love and mercy) to win that fight (Romans 8) BY FAITH IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. God helps you get your body UNDER subjection to what your spirit desires (God) and what your body desires (earthly pleasures, whether unnatural or natural). God saves you by faith, but faith works by love AND you won’t find how to REST in Christ’s work until you believe. Faith is entering the fight with the belief that you will OVERCOME SIN AND RULE OVER IT, because God will HELP you do it. God doesn’t force you to change…He does it AS you submit more and more of yourself in the relationship. He teaches you how to fight against your fleshly desire BY HIS SPIRT through faith. Anyway, there’s so much to know BUT ask God to give you His Spirit and power. He will. You have to know God by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ AND you rest in His works and His righteousness. I’m righteous because Christ made me righteous. I’m being made righteous by faith in Christ because I submit to God (by faith) out of sincere love (for God). I’ll be presented as righteous because GOD WORKS in me to be able to will (desire) to do God’s will and puts within me the ABILITY to do God’s will. Faith confesses sin and godly sorrow (for that sin) works repentance. You’re losing the fight because you have to fight until you give up on YOU being able to do God’s will WITHOUT God’s help. Have faith in God, doesn’t mean give up. It means give up on accomplishing a work of God WITHOUT His power and without His Spirit. It believing what God says. Jesus Christ said the word of God (as it is written, is truth) AND that He is Truth (the Word of God made flesh).

@@christianconvos I know what I’m about to say is something that may be controversial but I am interested to know your opinion. I started experiencing SSA around the age of 12. By my late teens I had started giving into those feelings and was watching gay p*rn. By my early twenties I was living a complete homosexual lifestyle. That lifestyle lead me into a very dark and lonely place filled with idols. I was extremely vain, over sexualized, and very perverse. It seemed that the more I dated men and gave into the temptation to act on homosexual feelings, the more lust and perversion that grew inside of me. And the more lust and perversion that grew inside of me, the more dark my heart and mind became. I soon found myself in a world of vain conceits/idols. Drugs, Alcohol, partying, prostitution, orgies, etc… If it was a work of the flesh, I was involved in it. By 32 years old I had given my life to Christ and one of the very first things I asked the Holy Spirit was “if being gay was wrong, show me”. Soon after, I was convicted that it’s not the feelings that are “wrong”, it’s the giving into them and acting on it that is a sin. He showed me that the feelings themselves are simply a perversion of what God intended the design to be for mankind. A “twisting” of what God has in mind for his creation. In other words, unnatural. God has since shown me the roots of my homosexual feelings and tendencies. He hasn’t shown me how to get free from them or how to overcome them fully…..YET. Everyday I battle to keep my mind pure and to let God’s will be done in my life. I live a celibate lifestyle. One of denying myself and perusing purity. I do have peace and joy at times, but often find myself wanting a normal relationship with a woman and the “family life” However, my attraction to men is as strong as ever and I don’t know if I’ll ever be “free” from it. I realize my story is my own and not everyone has the same experience and opinions that I do. I believe in my spirit that homosexuality is unnatural and from Satan. I believe he finds a way in to a young developing mind and uses fears/insecurities to drive people into all different kinds lusts, desires, perversions, and immoralities. I believe “homosexuality” is one of the MANY things he draws people into through these various temptations. I do believe at one point or another there is demonic power behind the feelings and thoughts of homosexuality. However, after time it becomes a stronghold of the developing mind and eventually becomes a “part” of who we perceive ourselves to be. My question to you is what is your thoughts about what I have just said? And what do you believe is the root cause of these “unnatural” desires? Or do you have an entirely different perspective than I do? I’m genuinely just curious because I believe that the roots and causes of “homosexuality” is unique and varying in every person. However, I believe there are many common threads between all who experience these attractions. Sorry it’s so long lol. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I pray all is well. God bless

I'm struggling with same sex attraction. I'm choosing to live a celibate lifestyle. I liked the point of where it's about what God wants us to do, not what I want to do. While to be physically intimate with a spouse is God’s plan; if you’re committed to celibacy because of ssa, then I’m sure that our life in heaven will be more satisfying and fulfilling as a reward than the gratification one experiences during sex because as the word says, there will be no marriage in heaven which precludes the act of intimacy itself. As a man who’s been celibate my whole adult life, it’s gotten easier really since you don’t miss what you don’t have. The feelings of ssa are still there after all these many years and I wish God would’ve changed that part of me when I believed but then there’s the problems one faces in straight relationships too. Learn to live life with the grace that God has shown us because in light of eternity, our lives here are so brief in comparison. Thanks Jack for sharing your thoughts on how to navigate life as a ssa person.

@@pastorbri When someones grows up in a christian house and they grow up seeing how different people outside of the church act compared to what they have known their whole life, it is totally understandable why someone would want to try to not be ripped from that part of their life that has been so integral to them. I think it starts out of a well meaning place, but there certainly is a very extreme decision and sacrifice you are expected to make when you follow God if you grew up in that sphere that is completely not fair and a struggle. It doesn't help too that for many, the way the LGBT community is framed from within that upbringing makes the tradeoffs seem terrifying and not worth. I love that this dude understands the complexity too and the way he's trying to navigate these waters, even though I worry that ultimately, the sacrifices people make to be celibate in the church may be cope.

Hello, hello... I'm a French journalist and writer, specializing in history, and I'm currently doing a little documentary research about young people and the Catholic faith in the media, in different countries. That's why I came across your video. In the American media, most of the time, we come across people who are completely exalted, who seem to need urgent psychiatric treatment. That's not your case, you seem like a very nice, intelligent, well-balanced boy. Cute, too ! But what you're saying makes me very uncomfortable. I absolutely don't understand how a young person today, in 2023, can let such retrograde principles rule his life. I'm not criticizing your faith, you believe in whatever you want, but to refuse the love and friendship of a companion and true human fulfillment because of some vague deity invented in a distant Middle East where you'll never go seems to me an incredible waste. I don't mean this unkindly, but it saddens me. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y5eihdiUvcjVf5s.htmlsi=R3BArM_quiWIc7W-@@christianconvos

Are we supposed to "believe on the finished work of Christ" or "believe on Him" (John 3:16)?
@christianconvos
@christianconvos 9 ай бұрын
Hi Toronto Bible Study, as it says in Acts 16:30-31, we are to "believe on The LORD Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved." In Hebrews 10:12 it says “But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;” and in the Old Testament we see the blood of the lamb on the door of the Israelites as being what caused death to pass over them (a shadow of Jesus Christ's sacrifice). Personally, I see trusting is Christ's sacrifice and trusting in Christ as the same thing, though some people may have a different definition of what "trusting Christ" means. I guess my question for you would be how do you separate the two of them, so I better understand your point?
@torontobiblestudy
@torontobiblestudy 9 ай бұрын
@@christianconvos Many people do claim they are the same thing, but I separate the two because they are different. One is Him, the other is what He did. They are different. The idea that we should believe "on His finished work" is more of a Christianese slogan than a Biblical prescription in my view. Acts 16:31 says to believe on Him. The other scriptural references you point out are not directly referencing salvation. But other passages that directly reference salvation seem to be advise faith in Him , not in His work (John 1:12; 3:16; 5:24; 6:47; 11:25-27; 20:31; 1John 5:10-13). The Gospel of John says it was written for the unbeliever to believe and get eternal life (John 20:31). No other book of the BIble contains such a purpose statement. The only condition placed on getting eternal life in the book is belief in Him. Some argue we must know Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again (1 Cor 15:1-4), largely because this passage is said to be "the gospel." But gospel means good news and it often appears with other meanings than merely "what we must believe to be saved." This passage says this is the gospel by which the Corinthians are being "saved," but it also says they must "keep in memory" what he preached to them, which is a work (v. 2). This "gospel" also carries on past v. 4 to at least v. 6 or possibly v. 8, yet most people will not say we have to include that information. I think the idea that 1 Cor 15:1-4 is "the gospel" we must believe to be saved from hell is man's tradition. It may seem like semantics, but it may not be. It may be that all a person has to do is believe that Jesus is "the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye might have life through His name" (John 20:31; cf. 1 John 5:10-11). If this is so, then insisting that people must believe in His death for sins, burial, and resurrection may actually conceal the gospel and prevent someone from getting saved.Saying someone has to believe on "His finished work on the cross" may be confusing, as with slogans such as "invite Jesus into your heart," and "surrender to Jesus." This kind of language may make it more difficult to be saved, I appreciate your thoughts on the matter, brother. God bless you.

Jesus was still there helping me understand why His way is better all along the way. Now as a married man I understand Jesus was right all along. It takes time. I get frustrated when I hear people tying our behaviors/works with our salvation. Its a total misunderstanding of how salvation works. We are once saved/justified, always saved/justified by the Blood of Jesus when we first trusted in Him.

I have one dream left in life. I dream of one day having a loving Christian husband, a small cabin in the woods, I spend most of my time in study and prayer, we are part of a church, maybe raise a family, just live a typical and boring life. But that is little more than a delusion. As soon as I can throw away my last dream, the last thing giving me any hope for the future, I may be able to live my life alone, that which is expected of gays in the church, the very first thing God himself said was not good.

It seems to me it is because people have been convinced that certain men, who had a tiny knowledge of science, psychology, biology, heard from God and wrote that He is really not ok with gay people having relationships.

It’s good to seek out other Christian’s that understand your specific struggles. However, the reason you haven’t gotten to the point of NOT conceiving the sin. You still think it (that sin) has a say in who you are.. desire (including sexual desire) is conceived and sin (the act) is born in you by you. Being celibate is something you may choose, BUT it shouldn’t be something you choose because you are not able to overcome sin and rule over it by faith through the Spirit of God and His power. That sin has no part in who you are in Christ, but UNTIL you confront the desires for what they are (sin) and confront the lies that Satan and the world has attached to that particular sin WITH THE truth (Scripture) by the Truth (Jesus Christ) with faith you’ll be hindered by ungodly and unholy desires (just like any other sexual sin). Sexual sin is sexual sin whether it’s fornication, adultery, incest, sodomy, etc.). God does NOT say that you have to be bound by sexual desires (of any kind). He says that He sets you FREE FROM SIN. IF you sin, confess to God by faith in Christ EVERY TIME (it’s God’s Will & it’s essential). God said do it! Do not be deceived, you can ONLY WIN THE WAR AGAINST YOUR SIN GOD’S WAY. Repentance is NOT a one time thing IT’S a lifetime thing. It’s not a denial of faith IT’S a work of faith. God says, “Don’t sin,” so you’re going celibate…GOOD. God says, “Repent, IF you sin,” so why would you drop that step UNLESS your faith is wavering. Do you believe God will do what He says? IF so, then do your part the way He says BY FAITH.

The deeper you read the Bible, the less it makes sense. The Bible was written by man and ripped off other fictional stories. The Bible was translated by man thousands of times to the point where the original meaning of the text is lost. Think about this: if God really wanted us to be good Christians, why didn't he use his divine power to write the Bible, then install a copy of the Bible into everyone's brain when they get born. At least there would be less confusion that way

Rudy, I left the evangelical religion, due in no small part to my sexuality. I was gutted. Forced to choose between my spiritual life, community and who I love. That was over 35 years ago. Now happily in a civil partnership and have a wonderful spirituality. God is not a Christian. I still feel attracted and repelled by the church, but being in the twilight zone of Christianity (feeling neither a part of, nor seperate from it) has been so rewarding.

People are so misguided. You don't struggle with same-sex attraction. Just as a heterosexual doesn't struggle with opposite sex attraction. We struggle with lust. Lust is the sin. It drives us. It is our god when you abandon the holy spirit. A heterosexual would not give up on recieving love and giving love to one person for the rest of their life because of their lustful struggle. They learn self control and put God first. A homosexual who rejects to give love and recieve love from another man on this earth, is denying God's gift to him, and letting the devil to work in you through lustful passions to continue to tempt too outside of God's gift. In the past, all the men only had lustful passions,it is why it said the men should not sleep with men, but now men have learned how to love each other righteously. Practices have changed. Your best friend or your community is not your suitable helper, for they will have one, one day. And you will be physically alone in this world. If you can accept, do so, if not, gays, marry the man that blossomed from your youth.

You're doing so much damage to yourself, punishing yourself for who you are, denying yourself a life of happiness with someone, and for what? Three sentences in a 3000 years old book, two of them just being part of a primitive code of law, much like it's illegal to be homosexual in some country's laws today. And if God really is a homophobic bully, why are you allowing yourself to be bullied?
