****** PLEASE READ ********* The reason your fuel pump failed early is the green fuel line. They sent me the same stuff, it is not good at all. You need 2mm ID hard nylon fuel line after the fuel pump at least. That flexible fuel line does not allow enough pressure to force the diesel through the atomization screen into the combustion chamber. Should be white nylon 2mm ID fuel line. Its cheap. Most kits come with it but some come with this softer fuel line which is not good. There is one way to solve your moisture problems. You have to create a vent so the heater can draw air from the outside for the air intake. Your combustion intake and exhaust are already from the outside, I am talking about the heat exchanger intake. Here is the reason why, but to sum it up, its the exact same reason the fastest way to defrost windows is to not have the air recirculating. Cold air holds less moisture than warm air. The air outside is so cold it basically has no moisture in it at all. Its frozen out of it. If you draw in the air from outside and then heat it up, then push it in the van, you are pushing in warm dry air. That air now that it is warm can hold much more moisture. Things in your van will dry out and that air will become moisture laden. Now you have to vent it out and get rid of it. Your heater is creating positive pressure in your van so opening a window or using any vent will allow the moisture laden air from the interior to be pushed out and replaced with fresh dry air from the outside. So now people would ask what about when its warmer and raining. Exact same thing. The air outside and inside the van equal out to the same amount of moisture. Its the same air. But now you get in the van and add more moisture to the air inside the van. When you increase the temperature inside, it allows the air to contain more moisture, which you supply from breathing, cooking, clothing you track it in with, and all the moisture that was already present in the van from the last night and before. Then later when the air cools, it cannot hold that moisture any more so it condenses back out of the air, and the cycle continues. You have to realize that nothing in the system is actually getting rid of the moisture. Matter is never created or destroyed it only changes states. You can not destroy the water by running it through a heater. You have to literally physically move it outside. You can let it freeze, and physically move it out, you can absorb it and move it out, or you can vaporize it and move it out. Vaporize doesnt mean destroy, it just mean turn it into a gas. Until you push that water out of your van, it will still be there. So the solution again is to have a system where at least when you want to you can suck air in from outside into the heat exchanger intake to be heated, and an open vent to push air through your van. Yes, this is less efficient and will use more fuel. But this is what gets rid of moisture. After you get the moisture under control you can close the vent and recirculate the air more. The factory built this into the van already in the climate system, you are just doing the same thing in your living area.
@RealHankShill
@RealHankShill 4 жыл бұрын
@@YhurHurt I wrote that so when the comments section responded I wouldn't get comments from people who dont understand how humidity works. Usually when you tell people how to create their climate system to eliminate moisture, they respond with something like "what if its raining" or something about fuel economy. Most people really dont understand how humidity works especially relative humidity, so I tried to explain it out to hopefully help someone in the comments section.

I love how your videos feel like you're on a remote expedition withstanding the environment and surviving. I watched some other van videos, like the van life and some others, and I couldn't stand them. It just seems like they're on some luxury vacation and at the end of filming, they get back into their house and have a long bath. The fake comedy and interactions just add to that fake/shallow vibe. I'm really glad to see genuine people like you doing this. To me, you represent the resilience of humanity. Able to survive through struggle on little means and despite all odds. Thank you so much for making these videos, and I'd love to see more of these extreme cold survival videos in your van. You deserve all the subscribers you've been getting lately, that's for sure! hey i just found your channel so i know nothing of your plans. but i do know that Yellowknife is one of the coolest places in Canada. i worked there one winter and went back for a summer vacation a few years later. here are some things to do that you may or may not already know about. i didn't know about all of these when i was there in the winter and wished that someone had told me. 1 Bullocks Bistro: located close by the Pilot's monument in Old Town. Fresh caught fish from Great Slave Lake. also caribou if i'm remembering correctly. Sign the counter while you watch it sizzle. this was the best fish i have ever eaten. DO NOT MISS! also they have real beer. 2 Weaver and Devore: almost directly across the street from Bullocks Bistro. real live operating trading post. you can buy serious winter gear there that you will not find anywhere else, as well as all kinds of camp goods. 3 Wildcat Cafe: around the corner from Weaver and Devore. built in 1937 this is one of the original log buildings in Yellowknife. it was built in 1937. it may be the most Canadian place i have ever eaten. they have great breakfasts. 4 Northern Lights: if you want to see northern lights head out on the Ingraham Trail (Hwy 4) to Prelude lake (20 kms or so). it is far enough out of town that there is almost no light pollution. it is a local favourite viewing spot. actually anywhere on the trail is a good place to view Aurora. toward the far end there is a huge pullout area with a picnic table. keep in mind though that you're pretty far from town if you have mechanical trouble. the road ends at km 70 which is where it becomes the ice road as you drive on the lake. (this is an incredibly busy road with a lot of heavy truck traffic just so you know. when the Ice Road to the diamond mines opens at the end of January there will be hundreds of trucks on it day and night). the ice road to Dettah should be open soon in town though. i'm sure you could find a ride just to have the experience of driving on an ice road. 5 SnowKing winter festival: right now there is a crew cutting ice and moulding snow out by the houseboats. every year they make a GIANT CASTLE on the lake. it is open for the month of March. so if you're still there check it out. 6 Northern Images: art gallery on Franklin Ave downtown. incredible northern art of all kinds that you will not find anywhere else. there is also another gallery on the road between Old Town and Downtown but i forget what it's called. 7 Ice Fishing, Dog Sledding, Snowshoeing....... there are many businesses in town that offer tours or packages or just single activities like these. Narwhal Northern adventures, Beck's Kennels, and Aurora Village are a good place to start. 8 NWT Brewing: local microbrewery on Franklin avenue. if you're into beer which i see you are. tomorrow is taco tuesday. now i want to go to Yellowknife. happy exploring.

Seems like a good part of us caught the gist of it.........I have hiked in the snow and have squatted and taken a dump once in the Rockies in November....I remember digging one foot of snow and then stabbing at the frozen ground to make a hole....it didn't work. Hopefully by late Spring, early Summer the turds would have bio-degraded themselves into oblivion.

I lived in my car for 1.5 year in Colorado. I would love to continue to do it to save money. However, people kept complaining about me not providing my dog a good living condition although he was fine going to work with me and staying at Starbuck every night (my dog stayed inside Starbucks). We just had to sleep in the car at night. I had to quit my job and move to other state.
