This little apartment has an amazing view because its in Midtown Manhattan right next to the Empire State Building. Also, if you share it with someone else, its actually affordable.

I've never been to the east coast of the country. I was born and raised on a farm in the Midwest, and I currently own ten acres in the rural southwest with a 4-wheel drive & nothing but open space around me. I find this channel fascinating, because I can't even begin to identify with the life I see. I would go absolutely stir crazy living in a huge city and a tiny space. I don't really like people as a general rule. LOL Being constantly surrounded by them would drive me to the nearest psychiatrist. 😬 It's amazing how different our lives can be, and we find happiness in so many different ways. I get to see another world watching this channel. I'd post my world, but it would bore everyone to tears. Very quiet with just the dogs barking or the chickens clucking and the occasional coyote yips. Thanks for the videos!

I can't imagine a more problematic layout for that first apartment with the fireplace directly across from a doorway, thus no room for a couch for that big screen TV. Again, somehow, they made an apartment with no actual living room. And $5000 a month. Even if you managed to put two people in there, it's $2500 every 30 days to live there. Insane.

This used to be the Hotel McAlpin until it was turned into rental apartments in the early 1980s. 1 of my old bosses used to live there when it was converted. Now it's actually a condominium. Unfortunately they've taken any of the old charm & thrown it away except for the exterior of the building. The only reason I can see for them getting the rents they're charging is for the location. Everything in the apartments is basic. Boring, bland kitchens & a microwave on -the counter?? No in-unit laundry in either unit. No supermarket close by & that Target is only a Target express store with limited selection & it charges more than a regular full service Target. Cutting up those apartments to add an extra bedroom in each is the silliest idea I've heard of. You'll get more vang for your buck somewhere else.
@hadeev
@hadeev Жыл бұрын
Those apartments are nice, and have charm (especially the one with the fireplace). It's great that they have rooftop access. They look larger than I imagined, but their best perk is that they're located in the garment district. So many places to eat and shop, with bus lines and subways galore. In the 1980s, I had a boyfriend who lived on 31st Street and Broadway. It was so cool doing things in the area, and his job was walking distance from home. The neighborhood has evolved a whole lot since those days.

the only thing this video shows me is that people that live in the city don't know how to mange money properly, for 5k a month you can afford a half a million dollar home outside the city. 5k is astronomical for a apartment that is on the same level as high crime areas. that apartment is pure section 8, ive seen people living off government assistance have better homes, i feel bad for people who willingly stay there

Where I live in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, roughly 60 miles east of Pittsburgh, each one of these apartments would go for no more than $600/month, including water and sewage. Gas, electric, internet, and trash pickup would run roughly $180/month. Rent and utilities included would be about $780-$820. To pay anything more than that is robbery imo.

I looked at this building when I first moved to NYC. It is quite nice. As you described, the apartments are converted hotel rooms, but given the vintage of the building, each apartment has a slightly different layout. It would be best to rent an apartment with a street view rather than the interior, if you want abundant daylight and views. The neighbourhood has much to offer, if only for the flagship Macy's. The studios-my favourite-currently rent for $3300/month, which is slightly lower than other similar apartments in the area. Overall, this building is a really good value for the money.

I live in a city, but don't leave the neighborhood unless I want or need to. When you have everything nearby, it makes it very convenient. I'm sure it's the same in NY.

The price a month blows my mind. I can't even imagine. Granted it's not in mid town NY..but I live in a 2 bedroom house with a basement. My rent is $700 a month.

That landlord is making.. (690 units x $4900 month x 12 month)... assuming all units from studios to 2 br average out dollar wise... That is $40,572,000 a year!! Crazy money 💵

You'd have to earn at least $200k/yr., $4000/wk. or more than $75/hr. or to live comfortably in Manhattan. Maybe more. I don't know how much food, taxes, power, Wi-Fi and other entertainment might cost so I think that $2000k would be the minimum. Correct me if I am wrong. This seems like a good guess.

I love when developers turn these old hotels into residential and preserve them rather than demolish them. The place looks great and the price isn't bad for the location.

$6,000 a month for barely any space just to live next to shitty chain restaurants and views of other buildings?? Yeah, real great. NYC sucks ass

Only 4900 a month to look at brick walls around you and hear constant noise from the streets below. Not bad indeed.

@@CODA96No. This apartment has no "brickwall view". From this smaller one, you see Empire state building, part of street, Macy's etc. I liked it. Great location. Midtown has always been the best part of the city. And the rent is not bad at all.

@@susannebrunberg4174 Dont know about the average rent in the USA but 4900 to live in a constantly loud and busy street doesnt sit well with me.

Meanwhile i live in a garage dorm in a developed city with bike paths, busses, solid infrastructure etc, everything one could ever need, in a quiet neighborhood right above the city center. All for 6600 NOK a month with electricity etc included in the rent, just use my phone as a router for my pc and pay below 500 NOK a month. All pure luck, the landlord, a job opening etc, and lucky to have a supportive family.

I know NYC is expensive. But, I don't think I could ever justify spending that much on an apartment. I can get a mansion here in W. PA for those rates.
