Allison, my friend!! You are literally on a journey. You went from flying around the world and a podcast, to van life and KZfaq. I think that life, driving solo, would eventually take its toll on anyone. And you're obviously smart enough to recognize that a change was needed. You always seem to have an interesting "next step". I'm sure your subscribers will be rooting for you, whatever you decide! Above all, just be happy! You certainly deserve it!

She's actually been out longer on the road full time about longer than anyone I regularly follow or have come across. Many have expressed feelings similar to her, but not necessarily exact, after 1 or 2 years. I learned it was a definite grind for those doing it 24-7, 365 days a year. Many stop and never return to it at all. Some by necessity, some just got burned out, and some just ran out of places to go or see. Timing is everything, and I think the timing is right.

I'm happy for you that God provided a landing zone for you. You have a friend to share with, a new place to explore and when you go on a road trip we will be with you and enjoying your adventure at the same time. At 80 yo I have worked 34 years, lived in sticks and bricks, 28 year in menopause. I had incapacitating days until I finally landed on the right medication. I could then face life, effectively domy job , enjoy my family, Church, ministry etc. Al I'm saying is don't struggle if you need help because help is out there. Will continue to follow you whatever you do Blessings ♥️🙏⚘

There's just something about looking out that car window.. after a while the places I enjoyed parking, I no longer enjoyed, something happened, I'm not sure what it was, but I wasn't enjoying car life ad as much and started overthinking it.. its weird because I was really enjoying it for a while, now I get a hotel 3 days a week.. the other days I stay busy with work.. and have a night job.. I'm only n my car between jobs now.

A good friend of mine did van life for a year in '18 I think, and the issues with isolation and loneliness was a big issue for him. He is a very independent nomadic person but it was actually better for him to do the van for a limited time and then settle down in a city in a base for at least a year and then move on. So I think it's wise of you to listen to yourself and not push this lifestyle past its benefit to you.

When it starts to affect your mental health, you have to do what's best for you. It's your journey. What I do appreciate is your transparency and honesty of how you were feeling. I think some channels have a tendency to share the adventures but not really share this side of van life, the not so good times and desiring to be in one place. Life comes with seasons. Seasons change. It is totally fine to switch it up. You look so happy, like really happy and that is important. Praying for your continued peace of mind and joy! 🙏 ❤️ 🙏

At first I subscribed just because I was fascinated with VanLife. Then you get to know more about a person(to a degree) and then it becomes more than just VanLife, it’s like making a new friend. Was I sad at first? Yes, I was. It’s kind of an odd feeling that you’ve felt like a staple in my life. It’s the oddest feeling. By the end of your video I realized that it’s not just about the van. This is about YOU. Wherever YOU go, I will watch your new content. Besides, we can have snacks anywhere 😅

Yes, I came to your channel for Van Life vicarious living and learnings as I started my path to being a nomad, but I "hope" that most folks stick around on channels because they find a kindred spirit in those that they enjoy content from. I'm so happy for you. You spoke to us with such sincerity and profound emotional words, feelings and emotions that it touched my soul. After you left the condo there was a different vibe in your videos. I kept thinking, "she's lost emotionally, missing the condo and its comforts. I am happy your settled. I am an older woman than you and in 2015 came with my family to start a new life on an island only one mile long between NYC and Westchester Cty. So in this small, isolated place my family came. (Nothing here but boats and i can't even swim). First month, i was diagnosed with stomach cancer, my daughter had a heart transplant, my hubby a stroke and then cancer. My older son a cop, shot in the face died, and all the while NOT ONE FRIENDLY NEIGHBOR. We were outsiders but dealing with medical stuff 24/7. Our two big dogs died. I spent 7 months a year in the hospital. Then in 2021 my hubby and i both with cancer got covid and my loving hubby of 50 years died next to me in ICU. Now, we are broke, lost, lonely. I can't work bald, etc and my daughter has endless appts with her new heart. So my youngest son, a professor in quantum physics in MIT was divorced and came to live with me to help. Then he became ill like my daughter and couldn't get a heart. He was brilliant, a great father, getting married again and at 6'6" and built, he was tall, dark, utterly handsome and a presence when he walked into a room. So he thought he was a burden. I adored him. I noticed his crew of friends and his fiancee were not around for a week. I asked him and he said, I think everyone is busy this week???? That evening i called him up in his room in our small cottage to ask him if he wanted to watch a movie with me. He said he loved me but was tired. That was 12:30 pm and at 5 am i found him hanging, dead and it was the end of me. He was my soul my son my life. He was so accomplished and loved by all his friends. NO ONE WOULD BELIEVE THAT ROB who was so loving and yet intimidating like hell would take his life. He would always bring home his friends who had no place to live. He was a fierce protector of anyone who was hurt by bullying, racism etc. So it is just me and my daughter, isolated, lonely, only interaction we have is with doctors. My boys were in their early 40's. I feel like you expressed...i cry alot, we are isolated and don't have the mindset to figure out how to move and find a place we can afford that's safe and we can afford. But tonight, your moving forward, your story gave me hope and i thank you for giving me hope. You did it and maybe i can do it too cause i feel all the things you felt. I believe God sends us people even thru you-tube to help us and you will be blessed all the days of your life. Be happy and enjoy everything in life. Of course, i will always be your fan. You are my hero. 😊😊❤❤

Susie, I’m so sorry that all this happened to you. Especially the loss of your sweet son. I lost my husband of 35 years to depression and it is devastating- I did not leave the area we lived in because I was afraid of being unable to make new friends at the age of 63. Our children live far from me but I still am afraid to move away. The isolation can be terrible and please feel free to contact me if you need to talk. I’m getting counseling and after a year and a half life is beginning to feel a little more real again. I hope that that is an option for you. I’m so sorry that your community is so unwelcoming. I’m glad that you have your daughter with you. Grace and peace to you.

Allison, you are so interesting and engaging. I’ve always watched reality shows and that’s kind of how I view your videos. I don’t know you personally but I know enough that I would like you. I’ve followed you and two others for awhile and you are the second to take a step back and I think the third will soon do likewise. That’s ok because it is real life. This life is so short but ever changing. Go where God leads you. He holds and knows our tomorrow. I appreciate you allowing me to follow your journey and admire you for sharing your faith in God. “I’ll see you when I see you”❣️

This is what happens when people turn KZfaq videos into a career -It's not fun anymore. You have to drag yourself up and film a new video to make sure that paycheck comes in... And too many people don't think about that when they get started. They see ridiculous amounts of money coming their way for basically taking videos of something they were going to be doing anyway - and they get a little crazy. Then they decide they might like to actually take a hike without the camera but they can't, they've got a van payment to make and they've got to get that paycheck. They wake up one morning sick as a dog and just need to stay in bed for a day or two and get well but they can't-got to make sure the viewers are there to get that paycheck! While you obviously need some kind of income in order to make van life possible, as you said, there has to be a balance. When you left on this adventure you obviously either had money in the bank or a plan for making money so go back to the original plan. You're not the only van life video on KZfaq and you're not that special - that was really mean and I didn't mean it that way 😅. But sometimes that's the pep talk you have to give yourself. If people are watching your channel because they want to see van life, there are probably a couple thousand van life channels they can be watching. If they truly watch because they adore you - then sweetheart, they're going to watch if all you're doing is scrubbing the bathroom floor... They don't care where you're living or what you do during the day, they're here because they want to spend a few minutes with you. You have to take care of yourself, you can't pour from an empty bucket, blah blah blah - you've heard all the little sayings. Do what makes you happy, do what keeps you healthy, and your channel will survive, I promise. Please make more videos like this so that people just starting out can see and hear the truth - It's not all unicorns and rainbows, it's hard work and it's not always fun. *** And for heaven's sake- do not jump into a van with a new camera and just assume that you're going to start a KZfaq channel and end up a millionaire by Christmas, make sure you have money in the bank before you ever leave the driveway! If you do end up with a successful KZfaq channel then that's a bonus - but that shouldn't be the plan.

I love that about you Allison. I will follow you at your friend’s home, in a van, in a car, in a sticks & bricks or just doing anything! You got a friend in Oklahoma forever!

I can relate I live in a box truck with my husband. He hasn't been here for a couple of weeks off and on. It does get lonely. There were many problems, and delays with our build so we were arguing a lot over the past few years. Things recently have been getting better but it's still difficult with mechanical issues, build issues, work issues, etc. Just do what you need to do. I want to buy land, and so we will keep working toward our goal, and this is the best way. We aren't travelog we live in the city, and both have jobs. We are doing that until we can start our business hopeful this year. Do what you need to do for yourself, and happiness. Good luck sweetheart! ❤

I think we often see ourselves as "one" thing when in reality the human spirit is several things at the same time. Once you embrace that concept life becomes easier because everyday is a chance for each of those several things to present themselves. I'm looking forward to seeing which YOU shows up from time to time. Enjoy!!

From watching many van dwellers, it seems you are not alone in your decision, it seems like the burnout rate is 3 to 5 years, especially in the states, it must be in our country you cannot get away from the heat, summers are getting hotter, I noticed the Canadian van lifers I watch are still going strong. I have learned a lot from you, I know now I rather be a part-time van/car life traveler, I live in Florida so I would love to get out of the heat in the summer. I am going to keep watching your videos, I like your sense of humor, positivity and honesty. So glad you found a place to settle.

For anyone who loves (or just appreciates) the desert southwest, Vegas is a fantastic hub for many and varied adventures. A major metropolitan city with access to all the handy services, opportunities, resources and cultural things you might want or need, yet with the wide open spaces literally only minutes away! So, so many fantastic adventure opportunities surround you, and even if you are not choosing to technically "full time" in a van, you still have the ability to use it for travel forays into the many wonderful places within an hour or three of the city. Topography! Different habitats and climates! Practically the nexus of 4 states! All within reach. You are wise to make the adjustments you need to be happy and healthy, and doing so doesn't mean you are giving up your adventuring. In the service of being faithful to the "van life" philosophy, I think something that gets under-represented is the ability to camp and explore with the van, quite apart from an unbroken full time life in one. I suspect that for many people, seeing that you can do recreational travel comfortably, efficiently and economically without an expensive RV is valuable by itself. The van life lessons make you an expert at this.

I love your transparency. I am always very skeptical about what people post because I'm a realist and often wondered about these people who are constantly moving on the road. The title of your channel is "Travel Snacks"...no "van life" in there so no pressure from me. I would love to see anything about Vegas besides the strip...I hear Red Rocks is beautiful and that's not too far. I hope you will still include some travel-type videos if you go somewhere fun. Also, congrats on giving yourself a much-needed break. I try to let God lead me in my life as well.

Thank goodness you realized you needed a change, you needed your friend, and you needed happiness! I have to say that I had a sister that did the traveling in her car, seeing lots of tourist's sites, posting about them and what adventures she was having, but she too was lonely, she didn't have someone to enjoy those times with and it got to her. I'm sad to say she took her life while visiting Death Valley. First time viewer this evening...so so glad you spoke up to your friend and accepted her offer. The 10th of May was my husband and my worst day as we lost our daughter (29) to the "invisible" horror of depression. She had taken on a Weight-on-her-shoulders, as well and could only conclude one desperate way to remove it. I was SO relieved to hear you describe the dropping/throwing-off of your burden. I loved your realization that, Forcing yourself to seek-out/see The Beautiful dims its beauty. You probably already know that there is a Beauty surrounding you wherever you are, but maybe it's a bit more "hidden" than, say, Hoover Dam. Stay well and keep the Faith!
