I moved to Lacombe in July from Winnipeg, and I can't be happier. Amazing smal city very close to Red Deer.

Moved to Lacombe three years ago and I feel like I am living in Shangra La. Extremely friendly people, great standard of living, close to Red Deer and between Edmonton or Calgary. Homes are well kept, no noticeable street people or beggars on the street, and theres an overall feeling of affluence here. Amazing walking trails, tiny lakes, and a university to boot. The “city” has multiple free events, especially for seniors.

I would add that for its size, the City Lacombe has very good recreational amenities - Soccer Fields, Baseball diamonds, Swimming Pools both at Burman and downtown, tennis courts, a skate park, many gym choices, hockey arena indoors and outdoors, free summer music in the park concerts that are always packed, the Airport fly in breakfast, and even Lacombe's own community police force (the Lacombe Police Service) overseen by the Lacombe Police Commission. There are also free waste roundups city wide that keep the "junk" from accumulating elsewhere. Although my property taxes are on the higher end - this is only magnified if you buy a house in the $500K category and up, and I often say "everyone pays about $3K anyway no matter where you live, so the premium you pay is only another couple thousand a year for a clean, quiet community. Demographically we see alot of new move-ins in the mid to late 30s with kids. The Edmonton Calgary corridor which includes our provincial regional Census District 8 (of which Red Deer and Lacombe is a part) is projected to have the strongest growth (approximately 1.4 percent annual growth). This corridor is home to almost 77 percent of the population and the most urbanized in Alberta. The corridor is expected to gain residents through migration and from other parts of the province. In 2023, Alberta saw its population surge by 202,324 residents (to 4.8 million), according to Statistics Canada. If you've got kids, Lacombe is a great safe place to raise them, esp. if you locate close to the many school options.

We were in Sylvan Lake a few days ago looking to perhaps buy a condo. We currently live on a BC Gulf island of about 4000 residents who have been stung by the tsetse fly. Er, a sleepy community is what I mean. Hermits. We talked to someone who knows Alberta well and recommended we visit Lacombe. When we mentioned it to the Sylvan Lake real estate agent, he did agree that Lacombe is a very pretty town, but he warned us that people there are extremely religious as per some of his clients who had to move out of town because they couldn't take the constant soliciting. Have you heard about that? Thanks for your reply.
