1. Nelson Mandela wrote in his autobiography, “Ethiopia always has a special place in my imagination and the prospect of visiting Ethiopia attracted me more strongly than a trip to France, England, and America combined. I felt I would be visiting my own genesis, unearthing the roots of what made me an African.”

But this was long ago and Ethiopia trained and supported Mandela, so of course he had a very special interest to the country. If he was still alive now, he would have been disappointed on what the country turned into.

I've said it before: Kenya 🇰🇪 and Ethiopia 🇪🇹 are sister countries and the definition of good neighbours. In an extremely volatile region, these two countries have never had geopolitical tensions or gone war. Ethiopia even sheltered Kenyan freedom fighters from the British during colonial times. The only place where Kenyans and Ethiopians are in direct competition is on the running track.

Nairobi and Addis Ababa compliment each other so well. They are both beautiful safe cities that attract tourists and international organizations. The world's greatest marathoners actually come from Kenya and Ethiopia and these two countries can definitely take the sports culture in Africa to to greater levels. East African countries are very organized and seem to work well with each other for the common good. South Africa has already set the standards but If west Africa can learn from east Africa the continent will outshine Europe and America ten years from now. Instead of suffering in the west, the African diaspora should think about returning to Africa and in my opinion the best east African countries to move to are Rwanda, Uganda, Ethiopia and Kenya.

I’m Ethiopian (born and raised in the United States). In undergrad, I had the opportunity to study abroad in China, London, Spain or Kenya. Of course, I chose Kenya. It was the greatest experience of my life. It was truly a study abroad experience. I learned Swahili, learned how to make several Kenyan dishes, spent time in challenging communities and made lifelong friends. Very peaceful nation. I love Ethiopia. I love being Ethiopian. Ethiopia is absolutely rich in history & culture, but we have a lot of unresolved issues that are internally established. Kenya and Ethiopia will always be connected. I love Kenya 🇰🇪 🇪🇹

the two countries should work together to build an express highway way from Nairobi to Addis Ababa. It will make the cost of travelling very cheap. the flight is only 45 minutes but the bus can take 4 hours. you can have breakfast in addis ababa, lunch in nairobi and dinner in addis ababa. and you come back with the goods that you buy in kenya and sell them in ethiopia. in 2 years this will be a reality.

Kenya is also a dual-citizenship country where one can hold more than one citizenship and this is an added advantage for us Kenyans in the diaspora. I think Ethiopia 🇪🇹 and Kenya 🇰🇪 finding each other is the revolution East Africa needed. Kenya was more focused towards Tanzania 🇹🇿 and Uganda 🇺🇬, which is good and not in the North. But the opening of Northern corridor, by former President Uhuru and prime minister Abiy, connecting Kenya 🇰🇪 and Ethiopia 🇪🇹 is a game changer. I pray for peace and unity in Ethiopia, and God bless East Africa and Africa.

I had a great time in Ethiopia, the food was great, I drank too much Tej in Yod Abyssinia and passed out. What you've raised is intriguing and perfectly addressed. In addition, Addis falls far behind Nairobi in terms of infrastructure (connectivity, technology, transportation, health, sanitation, and so on) and justice. Addis Ababa is well-known for its diverse cultural mix from many Ethiopian regions. Nairobi, on the other hand, has a cosmopolitan culture with a blend of Kenyan, African, European, and Asian. In terms of business, Addis is reliant on the government, whereas Nairobi relies on local & multinational companies. Nairobi has made significant improvements in terms of safety, but Addis has lagged safety behind by the Nobel Prize winner. In terms of tourism attractions, Nairobi is still a quarter mile ahead of Addis Ababa unlike the case 10,000m running event. Evenif I live in Addis with beautiful parks and hyper inflation, my recommendation goes to Nairobi. I will come to Nairobi were William Ruto, an African leader, leads.

The Ethiopian people are adjusting so many diverse issues within the country and that affects Addis Ababa too. currently, the cost of living is high, but the people are demanding that to change. In other side, Nairobi is well secured city in in Kenya at this time. overall, those two cities are going much better as time goes on!!

I’ve been to both countries and they are special in different ways, although Kenya would be more fun to live in, because of the economic development, beaches and safaris. You are lovely and beautiful african woman, very balanced in your criteria explanations and with detailed points. Addis is as beautiful city as Nairobi and because have or are living in both cities, your criteria and explanations are both informed. Hey, I knew that Addis is the highest city above the sea level in the world, but you have surprised me with snow. The war in Ethiopia was abhorrent and thanks to God its has stopped. Kenya has some political tentions which is politically engineered by politicians for personal gains or else Kenyans are generally very peaceful people and welcoming. Nairobi is a city that cohabit with wildlife on one side and forest on the other side. Its truly a green city in the sun. The weather is very good. I tell my friends in UK here who think africa is as hot as an oven. One visited Nairobi and was shocked. I think that Nairobi is modernising very fast but not westernised. Religion is also moderning and therefore one rarely hears the church bells and mosque speakers. Apparently Nairobi lacks vigorous cultural exbititions and even dressing attires. I know there is bomas of Kenya. Kenya cannot only be masai, the masai are making us proud but what about other cultures. No much effort and if there is very minimal to promote kenyan cultures. Mostly, Weyni you are welcomed to kenya. You are an African women and kenya is in africa therefore you are at home wherever in africa where you feel safe and comfortable to embellish your live. You are at home and Nairobi is your home.
