In this video, I cover the basics of what it's like to live in Rome, Italy. Not from a tourist perspective or from being here only a few days, but when you actually move to the city for an extended period of time to observe how the city operates.

👩🏾‍🦱 ABOUT ME 👩🏾‍🦱
Ciao y'all! My name is Kenya, and I'm an American living in Rome, Italy sharing my experiences and travels while living abroad. After beginning my obsession with Italy at the young age of 9 years old and visiting for the first time during a study abroad/Erasmus vacation about 5 years ago, I hatched a plan that somehow... someway... I would make it to Italy, and here I am!

"If you can drive in Rome, you can drive everywhere" Lol come to Naples and then tell me if you miss driving in Rome Anyway I'm often in Rome and I agree with most of the things you said. For the "negative" stuff there's usually a reason why it happens: for instance, most people don't accept credit cards because they're usually too expensive (considering banks' fees and other taxes) so it's usually too disadvantageus to let people pay with credit cards for a small amount of money. The public transport agency in Rome is having lots of problems, but again, come to Naples and then tell me if you miss the public transport service available in Rome lol

Ciao!! I've actually been to Naples and it was pretty crazy with the traffic too, I have to admit. 😂😂😂 I wasn't driving, I was just observing, but it was un casino. Haha! Thanks for watching and your feedback!

You should definitely consider it! Sometimes I take it for granted that I have all of this history around me on a daily basis. After a while, it starts to seem strangely normal! Haha!

Thanks for all these insights into what life in Rome is like! About the transportation/traffic aspect, you definitely need to come to Hanoi, Vietnam (where I currently live) and see the traffic here. Rome will be super tame by comparison! lol Is it feasible to drive a moped there? Or ride a bicycle? Is there moped/bicycle theft? I'm looking to move to Rome early next year and doing tons of research right now. I visited Italy in 2016 for almost 2 weeks, went to Rome, Amalfi Coast, and Florence. Anyway, thanks for the video! Cheers!

Traffic in Roma is normal , like in any other big city as London, Paris or Madrid . I was driving in São Paolo in Brazil ... that is actually crazy! Not Roma
@NaturallyKenya
@NaturallyKenya 6 жыл бұрын
Well, now that I think about it, the maybe the craziness of the traffic in Rome is probably based on how I think the traffic is organized. For example, I have never driven on a road in the US without clear lane division lines, which seems to happen in a lot of places here in Rome. I have never studied London, Paris or Madrid specifically in this concept, but maybe they do compare!

Well, it definitely depends on your price point, but I really like Trattoria da Teo(Piazza dei Ponziani, 7A, 00153 Roma RM) and Trattoria del Pesce (Via Folco Portinari, 27, 00151 Roma RM) for seafood. It could be around 50 euros or so.

with a student visa, you can work up to 20 hours a week if you would like to. That is definitely a benefit, but I think that in Italy they want you to focus on your studies more.

I have lived in Rome for 10 years and there are strikes, but absolutely not every month. More like 2/3 times a year. Also about the burocracy I don't agree, in Italy I easily got my passport, residence and doctor. By the way, in the USA healthcare is really expensive and in Italy it's free. The burocracy can be slow if you want to start your own business. Never in Rome they have rejected a credit card, by the way, it's against the law in Italy.
