After Living on 25/15/10 € a week, I did try the ultimate challenge: I tried to live on 1 € a day, in the year of 2024, after three years of inflation. Did I succeed? See for yourself. :)

All the meals looked delicious. A good reminder that a simple change of spices makes the same basic ingredients into something totally new.

Free would be interesting. Can u do a 2 week budget for around 40 or 50 euros? Most people i know do 2 weeks major shopping and then just pick up a bit here or there in between. It would be nice to live off 100 euros a month.

Absolutely! Thank you for the suggestion!! It's on the list. :) Maybe I'll do free first, but then two weeks on 40 € right after that.

Such tasty looking food! Perhaps budget cooking ideas for different events? For example, a simple picnic lunch for one or two people that isn't just bread. Food ideas if friends are visiting for coffee. Ideas for an extreme budget celebration meal like a birthday - perhaps not cooking everything but making a menu?

I love chick pea “tikka masala “ or curry.I have made similar dish for vegan granddaughter ! It’s very good. Watching from U.S.- I like watching how other countries are dealing with ridiculous food prices. Thank you for sharing your ideas.

I do not see why people add the price when it has already been bought. And its not like it is something fancy. But still the garlic and yeast were already paid for.

Next time add your chickpea liquid, called aqua faba, to your bread instead of water. It has food value.

I have a question, rather than buying tinned chickpeas, 4 cans at almost 2 euros, wouldn't it be cheaper to buy them dry? plus you could buy larger quantities of food, no? also instead of buying the milk, could you not buy raw oats? It would double up as breakfast and milk, seeing as you could eat porridge and make your own oat milk, again cheaper and more food? also Is pasta cheaper than rice in germany? it is almost 5 times cheaper here in uk

1. Yes, buying dry chickpeas would theoretically be cheaper - however, If I buy them dry, I buy them from my Zero Waste Store, where they are 89 Cents/100 gramms. Even if you guess that 100 g dry make a tin of cooked chickpeas, it would still be cheaper to buy the cans. And I don't have to cook them. 2. If I bought larger quantities of food, I couldn't have even ended up close to the budget I had given myself. And the idea was to spend as little money as possible per week. 3. Raw oats would be cheaper, but I tried to make oatmilk once, and it didn't taste good. Plus, the store bought oatmilk has added Calcium plus Vitamins B12 and D, which I really appreciate. 4. Rice is indeed cheaper as pasta, which is why I used rice in this video, instead of pasta. :)

Your question made me curious. So off I went to my kitchen and weighed 100 grams of chickpeas. It was all of a half a cup. At the price where she lives, that might be equal to one can of finished product.
@monica-2918

@@judyjohnson9610 but remember dry chickpeas expand when cooked So a 400g (240g when drained )can is equivalent to 100g dry
@monica-2918
@monica-2918 Ай бұрын
@@judyjohnson9610 in the uk, a can of chickpeas is 90p, but a kg of dry chickpeas is £2-£3 So the equivalent of a can dried is 20-30p, that is 3-4.5 times cheaper than canned If I bought them in bulk it would be even cheaper too!
@judyjohnson9610
@judyjohnson9610 Ай бұрын
@@monica-2918 That's right. But she said that 100 gr of dried chickpeas cost close to twice the price of the can she purchased. She got a bargain for the prices where she lives.
