Germany is where the angles and the saxons came from so surely Germany is the anglo saxon world?
@CocosUniverse
@CocosUniverse 23 сағат бұрын
Well, technically you are right, the Angles and Saxons came from the area we call Germany today, but since they all went to the British Isles and English as a language developed there, the Anglo-Saxon world is nowadays seen as the area in the world where English is spoken (as a first language/mother tongue).

I see that the store gives € 0,15 refund for the milk bottles, but if you were to find bottles along the way, does the store give money back for them if you bring in a bunch?
@CocosUniverse
@CocosUniverse 2 күн бұрын
Yes, they do! Someone paid the deposit at some point, so they give it to the person that gives the bottle back to the store. And some bottles and cans have 0,25 € deposit on them...
@EmmaHope88
@EmmaHope88 2 күн бұрын
There are people, often homeless, but not always, who go through trash cans to collect bottles at train stations and throughout the city. So it is not uncommon for other people who only have a single bottle or so, and can't make it to the store to return it, to just leave them outside the trash cans, so that those people can just pick them up without actually having to dig through the trash. Homeless people also like to sit outside concert venues, especially stadiums and arenas, to collect all the bottles that people have with them that they need to get rid off before entering the venue. People usually just throw them in bags or carts for them before entering. It can add up and is usually a nice amount of money.

Where is the healthy meat protein? I see only that gross chemical fake meat junk. Love all the healthy veggies, but those vegan steaks are cancer bombs with all that highly processed canola byproduct.
@CocosUniverse
@CocosUniverse 7 күн бұрын
Well, I am a vegetarian, so I don't eat meat, hence the vegan meat substitute. But if you watch the video completely, which I assume you haven't, you'd see me go through the ingredient list of the steaks, which is actually pretty clean.

@@CocosUniverse Yes, I did watch to the end, that's what raised my concern. The first ingredient after water is canola oil, which is highly processed. 🤢 Then you have textured wheat protein, which is another highly processed food, the same for methlycellulouse, the thickener. 🤔 ( I'm bilingual so that's how I could read the label. 🥰 Love all your videos!
@CocosUniverse
@CocosUniverse 6 күн бұрын
I'm a bit confused - canola oil is just oil, it's not highly processed, otherwise every type of oil would be highly processed. I googled the issue, and was interested to find an article about that: www.br.de/nachrichten/wissen/rapsoel-ist-gesund-egal-was-influencer-sagen-faktenfuchs,U0xaFFu Wheat protein doesn't worry me, and methylcellulose is an ingredient which is used in a lot of sweets and medicine, so, I'm not worried there either. I'm not saying we should eat these meat substitutes every day, but I don't think it's a problem if I eat them once in a while. :) Glad you like my videos, happy to have you around! :)
@arraybabe8514
@arraybabe8514 6 күн бұрын
@@CocosUniverse Yes, moderation is key! Nothing wrong with having a treat from time to time. The issue with canola oil is that it is hot processed, then steamed. If you can find " expeller pressed" canola oil, that would be a healthier version, but it's likely going to be a lot more expensive, so doesn't work well for budget hauls and videos, unless you can find it on sale or , which I am sure you can, girl with your eagle eyes for saving money! 🥰

Other things are more expensive though, so it's all a bit relative. You should see the food prices in the UK, even lower. I'd also like to point out that our food prices are lower than all of our neighbours', though they are fairly average when it comes to all of Europe. That being said, the German grocery market is the most competitive in the world, or one of the most. There is a lot of pressure on companies to keep the prices low. The win margins of both the stores and the companies that sell the food to the stores are lower than in pretty much all other countries. We have four big players, a lot of other countries only have two, and they all have a market share that is big enough to give each of them a lot of leverage when dealing with big name companies (and German stores have no issue with banning certain brands from their shelves for six months, if that company doesn't lower their prices), and they are all trying to win over the customers. It's the reason that the regular stores sell all of their basic shelf stable things for the same price as the discount stores. If they didn't, they'd lose customers.

What is being shown here are very good recipes that MOST people can afford. VERY FEW are actually eating nutritional food. The food industry has been pushing "processed food" for decades in the name of convenience and price. You need a dictionary to figure out the ingredients on most products bought at the grocery store. All in the name of corporate profits and the pharma industry to keep people SICK.

Such a really good start for part 1 of 4. My question for you though is how do you transport all those items while riding your bicycle? By that, I mean the weight and bulk of the items; to me, it seems on the harder side to maneuver and transport. When I do not feel like driving to the store and only need to get a few things I utilize my backpack and fill it up with maybe 15 lbs or so and it is a 3-mile trip to the store so it is 6 miles round trip. Anyway...I look forward to seeing the rest of the series.
@CocosUniverse
@CocosUniverse 17 күн бұрын
Thank you, Mark! :) I have a basket on the luggage rack of my bicycle, and if that is not enough, I'll use my backpack for the rest. It's a bit more difficult to maneuver, that is correct, but it's OK. For me, walking 6 miles with 15 lbs on my back would definitely be harder. :)
@markritacco270
@markritacco270 17 күн бұрын
@@CocosUniverse I had envisioned that you had a basket for the items and so glad that you have that. A million years ago when I had a motorcycle, I had a saddle bag that had a good amount of space on each side for "whatever crazy" items I carried back then. For me the good news is the first three miles is a breeze with no weight, just the return trip is the harder part, only because of the bulkiness and the people gawking. I walk for 40 minutes every day anyway each morning no matter what the weather is like. I have been doing that since Sept 2019.
