These prices are true... I was there in 2015 and spoke to a man from the U.K. who was paying $400US/month for a nice hotel which included air conditioning, TV, internet, daily cleaning, swimming pool, and breakfast included... I kept track of every penny for two weeks including meals, bought a shirt, beer, daily fresh mango shakes, etc. and it totaled about $7.70/day, excluding the hotel room... 13 more months and I retire and the race begins how much of this world I can see....Thank you Jerry and Lori for all your great videos.....

Hello, Kenneth. I will just paste the comment I already wrote as one of European countries is a pretty nice place to retire, too. Here it is: Why not retire in Serbia? It's in Europe and is very, very safe. You can buy a cheap house close to the city or rent for $250. TV, Internet, electricity and water would go $70 a month. You could live on $5 a day. With $10 a day you'd be more then comfortable. Less then $500 a month and you'd be living a nice life. My friend's parents moved there from Moscow after they retired and loving it.

I am actually living far better than I did while I was working full time. I am from Alabama, which is NOT a high cost of living state.I considered Mexico, as well as other Latin American countries, but Thailand won out because it's a far more interesting place to live. I wish I had quicker access to my Medicare benefits in the USA, but for now, Thailand is home.

Here's the thing about street meat: That meat sits out in the sun all day with flies landing all over it and if it doesn't sell, they will cut it up, put it in rice and sell it the next day. I have never known a street vendor to throw anything away because they cannot afford to. I've only heard of a few people that got food poisining from eating street food but it's not a risk I am willing to take. I would rather pay more and cook it myself or hire a cook. Just my two cents.

old retire people generally gotta figure cost for medical care so do you use local doctors?
@JerryBrownTravels
@JerryBrownTravels 7 жыл бұрын
Minorka2 excellent comment and yes making sure you have good medical care is very important especially when you're traveling and thank you for subscribing to her KZfaq channel Laurie and I really appreciate that very much. Lori had pneumonia and so we took her to a hospital in Phnom Penh (capital city) And received excellent care. It's easy to get prescriptions filled at the pharmacy you do not need a prescription made out from the doctor all you need to do is bring in your bottle show them what you want or just asked them and they will sell it to you. Another good recommendation is to have travel insurance say $150,000 medical and $150,000 is vacuolation insurance. This way if a severe emergency happens you have two options you can stay in that country and use up your $150,000 medical insurance or you could be activated back to your own country. I put in a couple links below you may be interested in. Past sixty, you can't get health insurance here, unless you pay obscene premiums which would wipe out the "low cost" advantage of living here. I am 67 and have pre-existing conditions, including cancer. 1500 dollars a year would not insure me. nor would fifteen THOUSAND dollars a year. Face reality.

The Philippines has health insurance but the retirement conditions are not as reasonable. I would have to deposit ten thousand dollars in a Phillipines bank account which could not be touched. I rely on my retirement income for living expenses. Otherwise, I would consider retiring there.

Not bad, I've never tried that stuff in Siem Reap. Siem Reap is not my favorite place in Cambodia though, it's mostly just for the tourists. Just a comment about what Jim Parsit says in the comment below: Don't try to be a saint in poor Asian countries. Fine tip a dollar occasionally. But don't give money to anyone who just has their hand out begging, without a shoe shine box or some attempt at least at a doing some sort of job. Never give to someone holding a baby. Begging is an industry here, with many of the beggars making more money than other workers. You can't be a saint in Asia, it is very hard to know who is deserving, who isn't, give to a child and ten more will show up, only give small amounts you can afford. If you are some sort of saint or sucker, places like this will suck you dry, and you will be begging next, or returning home broke.

Why not retire in Serbia? It's in Europe and is very, very safe. You can buy a cheap house close to the city or rent for $250. TV, Internet, electricity and water would go $70 a month. You could live on $5 a day. With $10 a day you'd be more then comfortable. Less then $500 a month and you'd be living a nice life. My friend's parents moved there from Moscow after they retired and loving it.

Cambodia when injury you can get a 30 day visa but you can go to a travel agent and apply for a work visa and get it for a year at a time. You do not have to show any income to live in Cambodia. What riled me up was the title of your video clip which mentioned 'beautiful girl' and retirement. It sounded like a typical single male retiree using his status to exploit an underprivileged class of locals (especially women and children). I will now enjoy watching your travel adventure videos around the world with your wife. My apologises once again.

If you book online just booked for two days and then renegotiate at the front counter and they will give you a lower price because they don't have to pay a commission. Internet is good in the metropolitan areas ( Asia is light years ahead of United States with the Internet and Wi-Fi ) 95% of the restaurants have Wi-Fi. Health Thailand has the best healthcare hospitals. Cambodia still in the Third World. But saying that we went to a private hospital in Phnom Penh the capital city and had excellent care and their equipment was state-of-the-art. Some travelers get travel insurance, some are self-insured and pay their way out-of-pocket. In Asia as in Mexico you don't need a prescription to buy medication in the drugstores just tell him what you want. Always good to be prepared maybe you want to take some over the counter medication with you for the times you do get stomach ache. And some you're typical travel illnesses. United States citizens can stay in other countries as long as they have a visa for that country they are visiting.( Example in Burma Miramar you get a 28 day Visa, in Thailand you get a 30 day visa,) When we are traveling we get travelers insurance for as long as you're traveling.(We use a company called seven corners Insurance company) You cannot use Medicare Insurance outside of the United States kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rbaWltx12bOoaJ8.html

Jerry do you get sick from the street food?
@JerryBrownTravels
@JerryBrownTravels 7 жыл бұрын
Do we get sick from street food? When we are eating from the Street food carts we look and choose where there is a lot of people buying the food. This way the food is being sold and fresh food is being put on the grill. We very seldom get sick ( an occasional little stomachache nothing severe) Also we eat a fair amount of food in regular restaurants. All of our travel in Third World countries we don't drink the water, we only drink bottled water, we don't brush my teeth using the water out of the tap. We Look for clean Hotels, washer our hands etc. etc. And all will know we keep pretty healthy. Thank You for subscribing to our KZfaq channel Lori and I appreciate You very much. Our goal is to help other people who would like to live in a country that has a lower cost of living and affordable for their budget and to retire. We are excited about increasing our subscription and followers on KZfaq Channel. We would appreciate your help If You can. Our goal is to have people share our You Tube channel ( jerry brown travels) on their personal Facebook with Your Friends. We would like to get 100 more KZfaq subscribers in the next 30 days.It is FREE.
