Beside KL, you may try to Ipoh or Taiping.. if you love slow pace & peacefully surrounding but with top medical facilities..

What a wonderful interview with Amen. KL, Malaysia is an ideal place to retire. However, there are many other places and cities in the country that are suitable for retirement.

If Amen like beautiful beaches, then he should consider Kuantan, the capital of Pahang, one of the three states in the east coast of peninsular Malaysia.

Interesting guy, but I really value your comments at the end about K.L. actually being a walkable city. Been there twice and found it to be a great city. Might even live there someday. I’m retired for 3 years, and still hunting for a second home. I go to Jakarta next month. Have you already done a man on the street type of interview in Jakarta? Been there many times and love the Indonesian people.

my father(3years) and grandfather coming from Kabul long time ago before Japan Invasion Malaya.....doing trading here and marry with local Malays. Then when 19years old my father joint Malaysian Army(RAMD)

I would say Brunei is better country for retirement the only problem is it almost impossible to get citizenship except somehow you marry with royal family or became Sultan family best friend 😁

Visit Da Nang, Vietnam. Hua Hin, Thailand. Vientiane, Laos and Phnom Penh, Cambodia. You may change your mind on choosing Malaysia.

Unfortunately in those countries english proficiency is low compared to Malaysia or Singapore. So, unless you're planning to live in the " expat" bubble where you don't interact with locals , you would miss the one benefit of moving abroad. Secondly, those countries won't have the same level of medical facilities , in Malaysia the quality is much better for hospitals and quality of medical care. And I suppose if you're a retiree, I guess access to good medical care would need to be part of the consideration in your choice to retire.
