Living in Arizona Now

Күн бұрын

When it comes to living in Arizona there are several misconceptions that people considering moving to Arizona may want to dispel. Subjects like aliens, weather in Arizona, cowboys, deserts, history and the culture of Arizona. We also talk about pronunciation of words across the state and a few more line items to know about Tucson, Prescott and Phoenix. Thank you to everyone who has been keeping up with Living in Arizona throughout the years.
#LivinginArizona #Arizona #MovetoArizona
Living in Arizona is quite a unique experience because of the vastness that the state offers. From the Sonoran Desert in the south to the high country in the north all the way up towards the Four Corners east and the Grand Canyon in the west. Known as the Grand Canyon state, Arizona is diverse in many ways. The state tree is the Palo Verde, the state cactus is the Saguaro, the state bird is the Cactus wren. If you are thinking about moving to Arizona feel free to subscribe and check us out on our other channels.

I was raised in Texas. Everyone I knew in another state or even my relatives in the UK thought we all lived like the people on the tv show Dallas and that Texas was just nothing but tumbleweeds. However the very first tumbleweed I ever saw was when I was living in Palm Springs! Now living in Phoenix for almost 8 years, I constantly have to tell people that different parts of AZ has different weather, that the entire state IS NOT 120 degrees all year long.

Very accurate video! Thank you for explaining in detail all those misconceptions. Although I don’t live in AZ and lived most of my life in Southern California, I travel there quite often to visit my daughter, who lives near Sedona.I have seen many parts of the state and it is truly a gorgeous place to visit. The deserts have a beauty that many people aren’t really aware of and don’t appreciate. The Grand Canyon is strikingly impressive; it’s a place that you must visit more than once because it is so huge and there is so much to see. The forests have a peace and quiet of their own. The red rocks in Sedona are impressive - great place to hike! The night skies are for the most part, very clear, for sky watching and enjoying the stars and the constellations. And yes, if you are interested in UFOs , visit Sedona where you can book a UFO tour! By the way, Area 51 is in Nevada, and if anyone is interested in UFOs there is a tour from Las Vegas that will take you close to it. Arizona has varied geography and different climates. If you want to see snow, just travel to the higher elevations. I was even caught in a snowstorm in Flagstaff during early April, a few years ago! Enjoy Arizona with its.deserts, gorgeous sunsets, the monsoons, the haboobs, it’s forests, snow, red rocks and those Javelinas. Although I have traveled and visited over 40 states, and lived in three ( MA, Fl, CA ) Arizona is by far, my favorite state to visit, and the one I will return to over and over.

My personal mispronunciation cringe word is "cholla". It is a Spanish word pronounced "choya". Close seconds are "Canyon de Chelly" pronounced Canyon du Chey" and "Mogollan Rim" pronounced "Mo ghee ahn Rim" and "Saguaro" pronounced loosely "Sah war o" . There are lots more, especially when you start getting into some of the tribal names and words Havasupai , Hualapai, Tohono O'odham, Piestewa. There is tons of culture, why i like it over some other states. There is tons of wildlife. hiking preserves everywhere, even in the middle of Phx. By brick roofs, I'm guessing you mean terra cotta? Chollas do not jump but you do not want to get one in you foot!

Sometime, in one of your videos mention the true sound of a rattle snake. This ignorant comifornian thought they sound like the movies make them sound. You know...... like a baby rattle. Was out one night on the middle, 2 acre part and hunting scorpions. As I walked along my electrified fence and thinking it had a "ground" happening I stepped closer and closer as the "ground" or "short"would stop and then start again all while the ONLY light I had was the small black light flash light on hand. I got close enough to the sound but not too close for a "strike" finding out quickly that a rattle snake rattle is a slight bit "faster" on a live one than the ones I've heard on TV.

... I’m torn. I was born in Texas, my family goes back many, many generations. My folks moved to Arizona when I was 12. I was an Arizona peace officer for 29 years. I retired 4 years ago and have been drawn to return to Texas. All Texans are raised to never forget our Texas heritage ... it’s in the blood, the DNA I guess. Arizona has been good to me but I just feel compelled to return to Texas. That’s it I guess. Edit ... it’s not a matter of birthright. People born elsewhere move to Texas and become Texans. They are indoctrinated same as native Texans. Sometimes they become more Texan than those of us who are born there. 😄

People think there's no life in the desert, and they are so wrong. Mammals, such as cottontail rabbits, jackrabbits, white tail deer, mountain lions, and javelina. More kinds of flowers than you can count. Reptiles such as lizards, many insects, and of course, rattlesnakes. The Arizona Desert is just teeming with life!

About to move to AZ and I like to be outdoors and it worries me that with the heat I won’t be able to have these outdoors moments as I’d like. I am moving from WA state so here we also face the weather when it comes to outdoors activities because of the rain but that doesn’t stop us from going on a hike. I really worry about the heat and specially when I have kids - I know it is long a long turn worry since I have no kids as of now but since we are intending to make AZ our home for a good whole so kids will most likely be born in AZ. I live in Texas and it's too hot for me. It is literally always sunny here. Yes, there is a mild winter when there is more cloudy days and gets colder, but during other seasons it is sunny most of the time. It gets boring where everyday the weather is the same, that is why I enjoy cloudy days so much. I like Arizona but the heat is a no go for me. It's even worse there than in Texas.

Three kind of deer in Arizona, coues deer, very small spotted adults. (Not the baby white tail which is also spotted). White tail and mule deer. Pronghorn antelope are here in small numbers. Also elk are here. I've seen otters which I never would have believed if I hadn't seen one in the wild. Javalina (havalina), Bob cats, mounting lion, black bear. Coyotes by the millions. The wolves as he spoke of. Most people don't believe this because they're so rare but I saw a solid black jaguar while I was out hunting. They very rarely come up from deep in Mexico but they do occasionally. We have desert long horn sheep. They're are wild horses but they're hard to find. We have tons of different birds including the bald eagle. Of course there are lots of reptiles, desert tortoises lots of different types of rattlers and lots of different types of other kinds of snakes, frogs, desert rats, mice and so on. I've been here a long time around 50 years and I know I forgetting some animals but there are a lot more then people believe.

I was in lake havasu city arizona in July I knew it was going to be hot as hell my friend and I spent a lot of time in the lake. We paid the 20 dollars 10 dollars each it was well worth it. It was July when we were there which for a lot of the country is the hottest month across the board. Arizona is actually the Sunniest state in the country. But unlike Florida arizona isn't always warm at least you can go to the mountains and escape the summer heat. I don't live in Arizona but like most of the western United States and south western United States arizona has changing topography and geography you have everything from pine forests to deserts and mountains just not ocean well arizona has a beach in Mexico I believe i saw that on this channel a year or 2 ago. If you're looking for never ending summer go further south specifically south Florida. Places like fort Lauderdale Miami Naples Sebastian. It doesn't matter which coast you're on.

1.) Jumping cactus. Not because the cactus moves... it's the smaller needles that shoot out when you brush up against the larger needles. Those are the real pain in the ass to get out. 2.) No one ever mentions that the last battle of the civil war was fought north of Tucson. 3.) The Coconino National Forest is the largest contiguous Ponderosa Pine forest in the world. 4.) McNary used to have the 2nd largest saw mill in the world. 5.) Look into the navel battles between Arizona and California on the Colorado river. 6.) The Arizona Desert Hairy scorpion is the largest scorpion in North America. They don't find them as big as they used to though. My dad stepped on an 18" that climbed on top of a rock and was threatening us cub scouts in the Superstition mountains during a hike. Not typically aggressive unless they're protecting young ones. 7.) Have you talked about the night hunts for scorpions in the hills around Phoenix using black lights? The Bark Scorpion is the most toxic scorpion in North America. If you have a palm tree, make sure the bark is trimmed smooth, as that is a common breading ground. To me, scorpions are the worst threat, as they can get into everything. A friends mother got stung when she thought she was crushing a roach in a tableware drawer. Northing worse than seeing on crawl up next to you on the seat of a j-john in the middle of doing your business on a construction site way outside of town. 8.) River rafting used to be fun until it got too crowded. No longer relaxing when your watching out for floating logs dropped from under neighboring tubers who don't want to get out of the water to do their business. Those are more surprising than scorpions; you don't see them under the water.

When you go hiking just be aware that there are dangers out there. You must have a high awareness. This jumping cactus is something to give a wide birth. I wouldn't take chances. I wasn't that close to a jumping cactus, didn't brush it or step on it, when it struck me. I was told that it is attracted by static electricity. So just stay away from it. When my brother was living out in the high mountains and when he was walking around rock hunting he came across a hurd of Javelina that chased him up into a tree. These Javelina stayed underneath the tree for hours. Then they moved on and he was able to get down and go back to his camp.

"AZ is filled with snow birds and canadians all winter". The weather comments are unclear. I would never want to be in phoenix for half the year and flagstaff is also not suitable for much of the year. But it is about the only state you could be in a comfortable area after a 8 hour drive.

Your face does show the heat in Arizona. You have a slight sunburn just making this video. Yep, AZ does get hot.
