I'd love to hybernate in the Winter. Strangely, I do enjoy my daily walks, even in the winter, of course, knowing that within half an hour or so I have a warm home to return to.

I agree exercise is important. I invested in my own Treadmill, Bench Abdominal, Weights, Elliptical Machine, and yoga mats. I also, converted a part of my basement into a home gym setup. It affords me the ability to keep my fitness routine up to date. While shuttering in place. 😊

@@mayaj3762 For some reason my legs don't feel cold so I just use the upper-innerwear. But yes, on super cold days (around -20) I sometimes wear stockings under my jeans :-). I do have a pair of uniqlo leggings on they're awesome!

Manitoba is insanely cold 🥶 I have the omni-tech Columbia jacket and it’s rlly good for our winter , I’d say it’s important to invest in it plus making sure your wearing the right layers underneath (like the ones you mentioned in the video)

I arrived in Canada before the pandemic, so unfortunately I'll not be able to share any experiences on this. All I can say is that while it must be an unpleasant experience, it will all be worth it once you start your new life over here!

That's a very good point! Many people wear scarves here, but I actually rarely do that. A scarf would definitely make you much warmer. The reason why I'm not that into it is because it adds a lot of bulk and it's more of a hassle to take it off and put it back on again when going out (in addition to gloves and hat!) Suprisingly, I've been fine without a scarf.

what about a neck warmer?

Sorry I'm not really an expert about that...I would say similar applies. Try to layer a lot than just having one thick layer. That way you can take off layers when it gets to hot and put on another layer when it's colder, to balance the temperature.

Personally, I think any base material works, as long as there is a 1. It's waterproof, 2. For snowstorms: Has an fur/faux fur extension to keep the snow out. In general, about wool fabrics, make sure you don't have too sensitive skin, because it can get scratchy. Hope that helps!

Usually the high collar of the jacket does it for me (surprisingly!). I just zip it all the way up. When I don't wear the hood, sometime I wear a scarf. I don't have any favourite material, as long as it's not scratchy. I prefer materials that don't require dry cleaning, for sure. Hope that helps!

@@angolic for Canadian winter clothing... for warmth: wool is best, fleece is next, polyester is last. You will learn to read the labels of clothes. Choose high quality wool so it's not scratchy, example: merino wool, smart wool, or even wool blend. Absolutely no cotton. It's bad for cold weather. If you end up overheating and sweating, you will get sick as cotton will stay wet until you finally undress. The purpose of the base layer (she called it first layer) is to wick the sweat, not for insulation. You need it to be either silk, merino wool, wool blend or polyester. But it has to be fitted, meaning the fabric should come in contact with your skin (not loose or baggy) so it can effectively wick the sweat. Your insulation comes from the mid-layer (she called it 2nd layer) and the outer layer. Mid-layer is any long-sleeved top like hoody, sweatshirt, sweater. You can choose thin, medium or thick mid-layer depending on the weather. Your outer jacket has to be windproof and water-resistant/waterproof, and with a hood. Down-filled and wool are best. Choose material with at least 70% wool for best quality and warmth. Insulated lather is also good. Polyester is my last choice. Mitts are warmer than gloves. Scarf or neck gaiters are a must. You can buy insulated, waterproof and windproof pants for extreme weather. For mild weather, use long johns (base layer tights) under jeans or slacks.

I would buy most winter clothes here, because there is a wider selection of suitable winter clothing here. I'd suggest to bring enough clothing for 1-2 weeks, and buy the rest here. And yes, it can be cold inside the house to, it depends on how well your place is heated. But you can always layer your clothes for more warmth.
