this is my favorite translation of Hora Staccato. he plays differently and so perfectly.

@relu58 I agree totally. To play this right you need to have been exposed from childhood to traditional Romanian music. That is why Prunaru feels so at ease, fluent and comfortable in this medium :-)

I have listen the heifetz interpretation the prunaru and others, above all I have heard the interpretation of the maestru Dinicu himself on a recording (the only recording he made of the piece). nobody exept the Dinicu, managed to sound ":authentic" on recording the piece. don't criticize heifetz, romanians tend to criticize him because they think only romaninan can play this piece. everybody has a personal way of playng and filter the music. nobody sounds like Dinicu even if they are romanians.

Liviu Prunaro plays the best interpretation of this piece , that I EVER listened to ! Love his "Temperament" Sound and Phrasing !! P.S better than " Heifetz Version" :) POSH BOW TECHNIQUE !!

I'm afraid I love a response like that. [I agree,btw.] I assume you're young(ish)and think this is a wonderfully direct response. marvellous violin-playing, tho I loved the rock-solid accompaniment, and have fallen for the pianist.[And I'm old enough to know better]

He plays both upbow and downbown staccato. _But what Heifetz would say - Use the bow!_ He shorted it too much so it sounds completely damped and very unatractive. That is why these techniques are very hard to master at high level and few musicians managed to do that. He made the wrong choice - traded the music for technicality, instead the other way around.

Very weak staccato. Listen to Heifetz, that's a true staccato which can be heard at the back of the hall.
