Oddie's Historical Feature - Episode 24
In August 1892, Fall River, Massachusetts Sunday school teacher Lizzie Borden comes across the grisly murder scene of her father Andrew, who has been brutally killed with a hatchet. Local law enforcement arrives, also discovering the body of Abby (Durfee) Borden, the stepmother of Lizzie and her older sister Emma.
Did Lizzie do it? And if so....why?

I want to thank all those who asked about Erin on my video about Lizzie Borden, and sent her strength and support. Erin sadly passed away on September 3rd. 2019 She requested that I cover the Lizzie Borden case at that time, (2017) and I gave her a shout at the end of it. She started out as a subscriber and ended up a dear friend. Always positive and uplifting. She never let her illness get her down and I will always remember her fighting spirit. I shall miss her dearly. Wishing you much love on your new journey Erin

With no hard evidence no person should be convicted of a crime. I recently had to fill out a form for jury trial. They have no idea how serious I take even the smallest crime. If I do get called in and need to serve, I will not listen to hearsay or rumors. I certainly will not say guilty without substantial proof. I am sick of our justice system getting away with putting people in jail just because one lawyer uses words better than another. Sorry for my rant. Love your videos.

I noticed the mix-up too. Emma was older by about 9 years. But that doesn't mean Lizzie wasn't protective of her older sister. Sometimes it's a younger sibling that is more protective of other siblings, younger & older. My grandmother was such a sibling.

Like with Bathory, I've seen people try to claim Lizzie was 100% innocent and "just a victim of the evil patricary." I don't believe it for a second. I believe, like Bathory, Lizzie was guilty. Amongst other things her father killed all her pigeons the day before the murder. He was a cruel, greedy man and Lizzie probably finally broke.

If you cross-reference evp spirit box sessions from the Borden household it was a conspiracy. The dad's ghost implicates Lizzie. Abby's spirit names Lizzie's maternal uncle John as her hit man, but she still alludes to a Lizzie as the mastermind.

Hello again Oddie! It's JS Matthew! I was born in Fall River and I lived there for many years. I moved back and forth from the next town over, Somerset, back to to Fall River, but I pretty much always lived in the Fall River area. This is where I was raised. I still live here today. I pass the "Borden" area almost daily. Fall River has a great history from the Industrial Revolution and the great Mills that created clothes, rope, and garments in American history. We still make military clothing today! This industry includes New Bedford Massachusetts, (which is still one of the biggest fishing ports in the US) and many other smaller towns throughout the Eastern New England region, mostly along the coast and the Taunton River. I live less than 20 minutes from the main house that the Borden's were murdered. Most people don't realize that the Borden's actually owned several properties as the family was very wealthy. (We still have the "Borden Mills" complex that it's still in use today, for other purposes). Those are some of the mills that Mr Borden ran. Check it out. There are a few movies about this tragedy, many not that accurate, but this was indeed, the first biggest mainstream murder in the news in America. Oddly, I'm proud to say I live here... JS Matthew~ PS send me a link to Erin at Providence hospital if she wants to. I live 20 minutes from there and I can either send a card, donation, or a visit if she's up for it. Pass it on... p.p.s. as a freelance writer myself, Google is getting out of hand... Selfish bass terds ppps. Thanks Oddie! Keep going. Don't give up!

This channel mostly presents historical crimes, mysteries, eccentrics and you were giving enough to share your own families experience with a haunting, which isn't horror. You are right... this is a history channel, not horror. All of Oddie’s features are from news reports, not his imagination. If you want horror go watch Friday the Thirteenth or some other made up story designed to scare you or make you ill. Oddie’s stories (except for maybe one) are written to share historical events which no one else talks about. If we all stop calling it horror (including Oddie) then maybe KZfaq will monetize the videos. These are news stories which Oddie has researched and put to amazing videos. All of the stories were at one time or another covered by newspapers or television outlets. If they were seen by the public in those venues, then why are they considered horror on this channel? If Oddie’s work is being harassed by KZfaq, then they should demonetized all of the news channels which originally broadcast these stories as headlines.

That business of the inter-connecting rooms seems kinda weird. No way to get out of you own room without having to go through someone else's? What happened to the gifts of property that Andrew gave Abby? Did they go to Abby's relatives or revert back to Lizzie and Emma? 17:08 - Whether Lizzie was guilty or not, good for her and Emma for not letting the town shame them and for bringing artists and actors into their new home! 19:55 - Sorry to hear about this young lady, Erin, being so sick!

One of my favorite murder mysteries! I try to update on any new finding when they present themselves and are made known. A program on the History Channel which has some success, Legend Hunter, did a program on this subject just the other day. It was they that put forth the idea that the killer was left handed. However, in your photo, the damage looked more on the right, but could have been the angle in which the damage was depicted. A shame they keep you from a more definitive picture. Also, it was this show that tied the railways in as a possible way for a serial killer to get around seeing there were so many like murders that happened around that time. They added interesting points, but like your presentation best. Too much jabber and transition in theirs. Good job. On to the next !!

@cheryl knlght It is one way to control us. Do not allow people to know the truth. I And the end goal is to reduce the global population to one billion. One way to achieve this is through control. Big Gates openly said it. The way to reduce the global population to one billion is through vaccine, healthcare GMO. How long this will take time will tell. Make the population so dumped up they can not think for them selves and they ask no questions. Bring the moral systems down to vanity, it is all about me attitude, eventually leads to depression of young children who will all be medicated. There will be no one on one communication, vertical reality will be the norm. We will be replaced by robots. Normalize perversions such a pedophiles. By the time this all becomes a reality we will become dehuminised.

LAM 101 Oddie said she did not approve of that relationship she was in. I don’t think her sister had anything to worry about. In Lizzie’s eyes, she was probably a victim of her father’s business dealings too. I do wonder though, if modern forensic techniques were used on the “evidence” would the outcome be different. Would Lizzie been living out her days in prison instead of a nice mansion?

I was born in Fall River. I live about 15 mins from there now. The house is a bed and breakfast and it’s as gorgeous as it was in its heyday ☺️ I went to an all Catholic girls school called ‘Dominican Academy’ on Park St. right down the street from the Borden house, linked to St. Anne’s church; which is beautiful, If you have a chance, check it out, it’s lovely. It, to this day, has a shrine in the basement open to the public & you can light candles for a fee. It’s a place I’ve gone since I was a child. My Nana knew the maid. She passed before I was born, but told my mother, who told me, the maid said “Lizzie was a spoiled, spiteful thing”... The Hill, is based on 7 hills, it’s a road that literally has 7 hills and the park on the side is a blast in the winter for sledding. That area is now called “The Highlands”. Lizzie is buried in a non-fancy grave at Oak Grove cemetery. Her plot is plain, which kind of surprised me when I saw it, considering the wealth they had at the time, but maybe out of shame & being ‘canny’ like her father, she went small & unassuming. I hope the young lady Erin is doing ok, she must be in Rhode Island Hospital. They saved my husband last year, he had a staff infection & had to have an above knee amputation. They were amazing in their care. ✌🏽

Oh My God, such gruesome old photos! I must admit this is one of the best Features ever! Loved the pictures. The story was told in such a way, my imagination was grabbed! No body can recreate History like you do, Sir Oddie! Thank you so much! You have a very great talent! I remember I used to listen to Prairie Home Companion radio broadcasts! What was I thinking! Well, I also love to watch old shows of "MR. BEAN!" on Holiday! OMG..I may be American Cherokee Indian, with German/Irish decent...but I surely must have been European in a past life. God Bless, and much Love to you Oddie & Oddette! Thank you very much, I really enjoyed this Story!...I happen to live close to the old Ma Barker home on Lake Weir, doesn't look like much, just an ancient 2 story home on a lake nearby....which was a hideout for Ma Barkers gang...I don't keep up with that. And the actor John Travolta also lives by in a private Airport neighborhood! I don't care for John particularly he hires Male nannies....if you get my drift. I just want you to feel better about your sweet doggie, shes in very good hands of our Angels:)) And so are you, and those of us who believe. May, I tell you one nice wish, that I love to say...instead of Goodnight? Why it's simple "Angels on you Pillow" always!

Erin Curtis. Thank you for requesting Lizzie Borden! It is such a well known story that I forgot that Oddie could make a video out of it. I think he did an extra special job just for you. The blood around the photos were a nice touch, don’t you think? That may have been the first time we saw that. See, just for you. Be well! Enjoy your holidays. Be sure to watch the video until you have it memorized. That will give Oddie lots of views before the day is out. Great job, Oddie. I knew you had a beautiful black cat, but I did not realize she was your muse. Such an important role! Your office is just as I imagined, maybe a little neater:) . Keep making videos! I hope that everyone would support you on Patreon, if needed. I still consider your work to be historic and not horror. If our world was filled with murders and deaths that were not gruesome, the evening news would have nothing to report. Your videos are just reporting to us stories of deaths which happened before most of us were born. You are a reporter like Edward R. Murrow or Walter Cronkite. The events are researched from news clippings and other reports, so then why doesn’t KZfaq treat your channel like CNN or MSNBC? Your videos are on that level of reporting and should be treated as such. Don’t let them lump you into the horror category. You are better then that.

Thanks for your wonderful & always entertaining feedback my friend. Bonchellini is very proud of her role, even though she's often napping on the job...and still expects a kitty cookie at the end of her shift. :) Yes I too consider my videos historic, but because of the crime scene images that I include, and other creepy filters; YT reviewers would only see it as horror/violence. YT is cutting costs I guess - it's called the 'Ad-Apocalypse'. I can't see anything positive stemming from this policy...it's just another wave of censorship that they force upon us. The whole thing is out of control.

Sarah Read I’ve always wondered what the Borden house was like. I’ve seen a show that proved it was not haunted. But, none the less, I would still like to see it. I heard that it was a B&B now. At least you can drive by the house every once in a while. Erin Curtis suggested the video. As Oddie mentioned at the end, she is a long time viewer who is currently fighting cancer. She has brought ObsoleteOddity to all the nurses on her floor. They must have a great fan club. A few months ago, Oddie had Erin do a guest spot on one of the videos. I don’t recall which one off hand. But, it’s really great to listen to her talking about her experience. Oddie is so wonderful that way. Look it up, if you can.

YAY! Like everyone else, I get so happy when I see a new video posted by Sir Oddie! The creative flourishes add so much atmosphere and are fun to look for, too! (You are a veritable master of dust motes, LOL.) It's a mark of your talent & skill to be able to take even a well-known story like Lizzie Borden & make it a distinctly Double-O Production. In particular, adding period pix, etc., truly enhances the overall effect. Thank you for your efforts! And thank YOU, Erin, for requesting this story; it's a classic, for sure, and it was great to hear it narrated by Oddie (such a great storytelling voice) and to get his unique stamp on it. I hope it boosted your spirits, and I join everyone else in wishing you a Merry Christmas with as much "Comfort & Joy" as you can possibly wring out of such a hard, hard time. (I'm a cancer survivor x2; keep the faith, sister.) Oddie (is that overly-familiar?), I'm definitely gonna write YT regarding their heavy-handed and restrictive measures. Strange, but I don't don't necessarily lump your videos into the category of "horror". Maybe because they're not gratuitously violent or that they're largely historical, I'm not sure. (Admittedly, I'm biased.) Regardless, it should be enough to give a standard "warning" without automatically removing ads. Plus, who's reviewing the reviewers? It's a highly subjective determination, that a video be censored (that's what it is to me, anyway) or penalized in such a way. To that end, it DOES bear stressing/repeating that "Skipping Ads" means "Shafting Oddie". I'm not sure that's universally known. Again, great job! Merry Christmas to all, especially {{Erin}} and your kitty! (I have a black kitty too, Cleo, who's ALSO a fan, judging by how close she is to the monitor...)

The background info on the Borden family lent so much info and the news reports showed your awesome research. THANK YOU! In addition, the gruesome pics of Mr. & Mrs. Borden showed the over-kill; what RAGE! I feel a richer, deeper understanding of this oft-told but abbreviated tale. Your work shows so much talent; thank you for sharing it with all of us!

Oddie, this was a great video, I found out things about Lizzie Borden I never knew! I’m praying that Erin feels better soon, and will beat cancer! My husband recently had another cat scan done, he had two nodules on his lungs. The nodules are cancerous, but they have been caught fairly early. His liver and colon cancer are contained for now. This new chemo he’s on is supposed to help his cancer to stay controlled. I want you to know that I support you Oddie, your videos are always great, nothing is bad about them , and I’m sorry you lost some of your revenue. That’s just terrible. Eventually, no one will be here on KZfaq because people have closed minds. Merry Christmas to you and yours my friend. Sending you love and light! I’m also sending Erin love and light and healing hugs. ❤️

Shilo Harrington, dear, I hope you don't mind my saying but (as a suggestion), try to get into the habit of saying when you talk about the cancer that's rudely invading your husband (my condolences, cancer absolutely sucks and I wish it didn't happen to anyone), but try saying it like this, "This new chemo he's on is supposed to help THE cancer to stay controlled." It's not YOUR HUSBAND'S cancer. Your husband doesn't own that cancer and that cancer sure as hell doesn't own him as much as it may try. I say this because I was born with Sickle Cell Anemia and it blows. It really, really sucks. I used to say all the time when I was younger when I'd explain to people, "My Sickle Cell this... My Sickle Cell that, blahbitty blah..." Until someone told me, "That's not your Sickle Cell. It's not something you want, right?" And it hit me. Of course it's not something I want, I wouldn't wish it on my own worse enemy! The pills I have to take for life, the excruciating pain I have to feel when an episode hits, not to mention to pain I feel on a daily basis. I'll never have 100% comfort, I've come to terms with that despite having to sacrifice things I love such as dancing. But it's true, it's NOT my Sickle Cell. And I find that every time I say it like this, when I don't attach a my + Sickle Cell, it empowers me. It makes me feel in control. I have my days for sure. But I'll never say it's mine every again. And cancer is NOT your husband's. No one asks for that, that's a pest looking for a home to stay in. That's just how I see it and how I see Sickle Cell. Just wanted to share that with you because it kinda broke my heart reading you say it that way. I truly hope everything it working out for the both of you and that treatment is going well, dear.

OO, please never stop your exquisite narration. Sometimes I sit back in the evening after a worrisome day with a neckwarmer over my eyes to ease my common eye strain, thus without your narration, I would miss out. Never change your way. -B.
