Here's my situation. I am also stressed out. I needed to request a transfer. I could not handle the site anymore. Waiting for my boss to find me a new site. I had to leave the lawfirm account. Too much drama, too much politics. Putting a dead mouse inside my security blazer with an attached threatening post-it message is the straw that broke the camel's back. It is a toxic environment. I worked there for almost 2.5 years. The silent treatment became unbearable but the dead mouse and threatening note did it for me. Monday night was my last day. I am now a man without a site anxiously waiting to start working at a new location. People are really mean which is the main reason why I love to be alone. Thank God I have enough sense to save money for a rainy day. I hope to be at a site in the next few days. You say?

Every single job I’ve been in has been this way. There will always be at least one person to cause drama in the workplace or micromanage you…
@rosierb852
@rosierb852 2 ай бұрын
That’s true it’s either a single person, narcissist, big mouth, always talking for the entire 8hrs even on their breaks, always want people around that person will target you if you’re not stroking their ego and if you’re not also catering to their false self. If you see them for what they are they and just focus on the work, mind you no matter how many people they have kissing their butts, they will be zeroing in on you! These women watch me from afar, they’re not manager and most times they don’t even work in my area (hospital pathology laboratory) they are so hateful to me, but then they follow me, stare at me from afar. I don’t like drama nor aggressive people I have CPTSD and aggressive people trigger my fight or flight. Since I don’t like to fight, I flight and get a job elsewhere. Once a place is known to be toxic it’s just that toxic, you don’t do anything to dilute the toxic you leave before it poisons you.

Congrats on choosing yourself and valuing your health. Yes life is too short and hard to add more stress when things out here are not easy anymore. Jobs wants you to sacrifice everything for the company. But will fire you when they no longer need your slave services. Never be loyal to any company, don’t go above and beyond. My parents always taught me, “never work yourself for a company and never go above your job description, never take on more work or do to much, they won’t reward you, they will burn you out and expect more from you all the time.” my dad had his own business and my mom was a nurse that dropped jobs with no hesitation. The only job I went above and beyond for, worked hard long hours, wanted to prove myself and I actually cared about the company, was the first job that fired me the moment I stood up and stood my ground against their bullying and shaming tactics. Learned my lesson without one. I passed up so many jobs for this company they offered so much more and working my myself. Never again! I don’t care anymore, I will job hop until I die. As I’m stating to take the approach of these companies, they see us as slaves, I see them as dollar signs that’s it.

I am the only black in my department, too. I've been there for 7 years and am still working in an entry position. My boss, when I told him I want to learn every aspect of the mailroom, he told me "basically everyone is set in their ways and wouldn't want to slow their pace to train anyone". Not long after that he placed someone who got hired after me in an area to get trained. Everyone who started after me has literally moved on while I am still in entry position. The job itself isn't stressful but the microaggression in that room is overbearing.

I was in a similar situation a few jobs back. I got written up the first time in my life for failing to respond to an email Which by the way all my emails were also cc'd to my boss. If she felt I took too long to respond she would reply that I need to answer faster or she would just reply herself. She would stand behind me during phone conversations with clients, telling me what to say. I was always watched and corrected over minor things. I had so much anxiety and would literally cry in the office bathroom. Thankfully I am in a much better company now.

I think that's why I didn't get hired for the jobs I applied for. I have alot of low self esteem. I wouldnt show it but it always in the back of mind. The thing is...when I wasnt chosen I would just cry because I wanted so bad to be out of that toxic job. I wondered what I did, what I said wrong, what they didn't like about me? Just it was somehow my fault. I truly believe the original manager we had there created the toxic environment . She was mean. She ended up getting fired for the bad treatment she caused us. The only thing is that they didn't get rid of her minions. So the hostile environment continues to this day. This place is cursed. When the district manager came to visit us after she was fired he actually said as soon as he walked in the main office, he could feel the tension among employees. That's pretty sad.

I’m in the same boat. Left in March. Worked at a bank in the climate team. Micromanagement, passive aggressive behaviour, personal insults and infantilising me in front of my coworkers wrecked me. I even had dreams about them plotting on me which was crazy. People on that team were weird. Karma struck because my workplace ended up on the news because of a debanking scandal a few months back. Awwwr I’m so sorry you went through all that sis. I’m glad you left, i live in Wales in a small town, so I know very well that some companies just throw a really few black people for a fake representation of “diversity” & “inclusion”. Concerning the micromanaging manager, that’s narcissistic personality disorder & the Jezebel spirit, you were actually getting subtly emotional & psychologically abused. You should have done spiritual warfare & bind them demons. People possessed with that spirit are very controlling, manipulative & insecure, but pretend to be confident & will strip you of all your confidence too if you are not careful. I got so angry watching this, I dislike bullies. But don’t worry, God is a fair judge.

Wow! This comment! I don’t even have words but you’ve nailed everything. @@gmariebullitt5533 “Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold” - Matthew 24:12. So yes there are a lot of narcissists now. But at the same time if you are a prophetic person, the Jezebel spirit hates prophetic people. Read the story of Elijah and Jezebel. That spirit will try to bully, intimidate & hurt you. And it normally does it to prophetic people who don’t know their identity & authority yet. So please don’t go anywhere if God planted you there that is. Bind the demon everyday before you go to work & also do serious spiritual warfare against that demon, until it stops the craziness. Effective prayers against demons require to be in right standing with God though 💕

thank you for sharing your story! i’m watching these toxic workplace videos to hear i’m not alone in this as i’m awake at 4am feeling sick with anxiety because of a job that’s been chipping away at my mental and physical health for 11 months. i handed in my 4 week notice and didn’t even last the first week as it seems i’m now being targeted, and my manager refuses to hear my side of issues. so i’ve decided to take these last 3 weeks as mental health sick leave - they have specifically told me i was unwelcome in the setting and i refuse to destroy my mental health any more for people who don’t value me and acknowledge that i have been trying my best despite everything.

So many things hit home! Esp the point of "everything is blown out of proportion" is very very very evident at my current job... they instill fear in you and give you so much anxiety whenever you do ANYTHING (writing a simple email, trying to set boundaries, asking for your basic rights). I have seen people break down at work and start crying from how much stressful the job is and the fear management instills in the employees. Everyone works overtime there... this happens on a daily basis to the point where this is what management expects from you.. if you refuse to work overtime you are labeled as "lazy" "unproductive" "hates the job" etc. And many many other toxic things. I am only staying in this job to gain experience then bolting out the door the moment I find a new better job :)

Thanks for sharing your experience Lizzie! I have recently left a toxic job and couldn't be more relieved! Same thing happened to me, it knocked my confidence and filled me with dread just at the thought of going in. The company was huge - about 400 staff with only two black people and they both left. I was the only ethnic minority and I feel like I stuck out. So sorry you had to go through that but it sounds like you have learned a lot going forward! I also know what to ask now in my next interview. As much as they are there to interview us, it is our right to make sure that they are a good fit for us. Well done you should be proud for not only surviving that but also having enough confidence to leave!

I think everyone can relate with your experience. For me personally I found myself suddenly about a mile beyond my breaking point when a manager said something that was not only unprofessional but he deserved to have his teeth smashed out. My wife had died a month prior and he began to tell me how he needed me to work more (already working 12hrs a day) and including the weekend. He finished it off with you're the natural choice to work these extra hours since your wife passed away and you have less of a home life. Won't go into detail as to how my employment ended due to an NDA but I doubt he'll pull that BS ever again.

I am a white minority in an all black field. Everyone is black in nursing homes even the management. . I’ve had a lot of hostility towards me and snarky comments about me being white. So I agree with you there should be more diversity in management. These white managers she had we’re probably prejudiced towards her but did so on the down low that it would be hard for her to bring legal action unfortunately. In my case my coworkers were being obvious about the prejudice but I can’t seek any ramifications because I’m not in a legally protected class. Fuck these people making lives miserable for us all being prejudiced when we need to put food in the table and pay bills.

Most of the time management is yt sooooo you will have more luck being accepted than folks traditionally labeled minorities. With that said, no one should be bullied. I worked in school cafeterias and was often the only black American among many Hispanics. When they realized I was not Hispanic and didn't speak fluent Spanish, some of them had cold, dismissive attitudes towards me.

Thank you for sharing your story, insights and tips - I am, like many, so sorry you had to experience this in order to share your story with us. I came across your video because I am in a toxic workplace. Two months in and my anxiety is through the roof! I can feel the stress in my body (lower back & shoulders) and my mind is occupied every minute of every day with "how do I Respond and not React to her and her nonsense?" (my co-worker who is not my boss but has taken it upon herself to supervise the rest of us on the team because we have poor higher management - they say "she's good at her job - good help is hard to find - I just ignore her pot-shots - she's mean to every new hire, I've spoken to her but she cries, so what do I do? - you try talking to her - she's caused a lot of people to quit." If I'd known ANY of that, I would have not taken the job! The ironic part, is she is not special. Her tactics are text-book passive-aggressive bullying, creating a toxic work environment. Everyone else in the business (small business) is lovely. But in the end, she's been allowed to have all the power and there is nothing I can do about it but find another job - which I have. Not a great job. Not a high paying job. Just something that will buy me sometime until I can gather myself again and find something better. But it sucks!! I love my job. It's in a new industry that I've been exploring and researching for over a year now (pharmaceutical). I proactively put an oar out to a local business to ask if they'd entertain the idea of me coming on board, starting at the bottom and they did. They hired me. BUT I didn't ask any questions. It didn't occur to me to find out how long people have worked in each position (longest employee is four years - most are under a year - that's telling for a business that's been around for decades!!). And, looking around the company, there is zero diversity. I'm white but I prefer to work in a diverse team which better reflects society and is far more creative and intellectual. Anyway, I thank you for your inspiring videos and I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavours - You are absolutely helping others and I commend your courage. Cheers!

The gaslighting. The constant threats. The lack of promotion for me. When I got Covid (not to make light of whose that have suffered) I was happy because I could stay home. Sounds like my place once again. They have this fmla addition to our regular fmla time where if you have a serious illness or something that could affect how you work, you can call into work and say you are using a fmla day cause your having a flare-up. You use your pto and it's excused and its private. You are given extra time to use whether you have pto or not. It's excused and you can use it as much as u want. It could be lupus, rheumatoid, chronic arthritis, ms, you being the sole caretaker of a elderly parents, etc..At least 90% of people have it at my workplace. So we are always getting call ins and the people that don't have it have to pick up the slack. People abuse it like crazy and most don't even need it. The job is very stressful and a fast paced production environment, similar to warehouse work. These people complain about the aches and pains. I asked "if your having such a hard time w this job? Why stay" They talk of how much they "hate the job everyday and how they shouldve called in today "Taking advantage of the benefits. Oh ...and these people are the ones who spread gossip, constantly refuse to do the work cause they feel they are being treated unfairly, and get into verbal arguments w management on the office floor in front of everyone. It makes me mad right now cause I am the complete opposite. Do what I'm told, but can't even miss one more day or I get fired.

Lizzie, Here's my situation. You say?

That's really horrible for colleagues to do that. Some of my colleagues in the UK pretended the workplace had a poltegeist, and it particularly 'targetted me'. I managed to tell the boss that some of my colleagues were caught on CCTV. They were not sacked only spoken to and no one apologised for their behaviour, only one I left the workplace and I found myself at his art group years alter..and he did apologise. I am glad to have been made redundant. I have a lost a lot of trust in my future colleagues and as you say I love it when I am alone away from people

Use your interviews as a chance to interview them. Ask them questions such as “what is your management style? How do you respond when there’s a crisis? Etc. The moment you start to reject the jobs that aren’t right for you, is the moment the jobs that are right for you will start coming to you. I understand it’s tough because no one wants to be jobless but your mental health is the most important and being able to do your job effectively without feeling belittled is just as important. For me the biggest things are reasonable hrs and respectful coworkers/managers/bosses. If customers are annoying sometimes, or if I can’t relate to my coworkers, not ideal but I can handle that. But no matter how great the job, if I’m working 10+ hrs a day 5 days a week, ima lose my mind. And if the managers & leaders don’t have your back-throwing blame/unfair expectations, life can quickly become a hell-hole 😄
